Over 200 students from govt college secure ranks in PGCETs

Rajamahendravaram: The Government Degree College (Autonomous) here has once again demonstrated its academic excellence, with more than 200 students securing ranks in various postgraduate entrance examinations for the academic year 2025–26. Students from the college achieved notable success in AP ICET, APPGCET, CUCET, and AP EDCET. S Komali from the Mathematics department secured the 3rd rank in the AP EDCET-2025. In AP ICET, over 60 students secured ranks within the top 1,000, including ranks 153, 209, 261, and 263. In APPGCET-2025, more than 150 students earned commendable ranks across various departments such as English, Telugu, Commerce, Economics, Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Geology, Mathematics, Computer Science and Geography. Principal Dr Ramachandra RK congratulated all the successful students and appreciated the faculty for their outstanding mentoring and academic support. This achievement is attributed to the special postgraduate coaching classes organised during the summer vacation, where faculty members extended dedicated academic support and mentoring. Vice-Principal Dr Sriram Murthy and PG coordinator Dr B Mallikarjuna also extended their best wishes to the achievers. The Heads of Departments expressed pride in the students' achievements and attributed their success to consistent preparation,disciplined study habits, and the college's academic environment.

Rajamahendravaram: Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) Vice-Chancellor Prof S Prasanna Sree announced that students, who have qualified in APPGCET, are invited to apply for Postgraduate (PG) courses offered by the university. On Friday, the Vice-Chancellor unveiled the admissions brochure at her office, detailing various programmes and facilities available at AKNU. The university offers PG courses across its campuses in Rajamahendravaram, Kakinada, and Tadepalligudem, in disciplines such as Arts, Commerce, Science, and Technology. The V-C said that with the highest number of affiliated colleges in the united Godavari districts, AKNU stands as one of the largest state universities in Andhra Pradesh. She emphasised the university's student-friendly campus with a wide range of facilities, including experienced faculty, Dr BR Ambedkar Central Library, separate hostels for men and women, Wi-Fi, health centre, bank, post office, NSS units, and sports amenities. The university, recognised by AICTE and NAAC, has also signed MoUs with several national and international institutions to promote academic and research excellence. Admissions to all the courses available in various campuses of the university will be based on qualification in the state-conducted common entrance test. Eligible students admitted to the university's campuses in Rajamahendravaram, Kakinada, and Tadepalligudem will be entitled to government fee concessions. Tirupati: Minister for human resource development Nara Lokesh formally released the results of the Andhra Pradesh Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (APPGCET) – 2025 on Twitter on Wednesday. Speaking to the media in Tirupati on the occasion, Sri Venkateswara University Vice-Chancellor and APPGCET chairman Prof Ch Appa Rao said that 88.6 per cent of candidates secured ranks, with 19,488 candidates qualifying out of the 21,995 who appeared for the exams. Registrar Prof M Bhupathi Naidu, principals of various colleges, and deans were present at the press conference. The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) entrusted Sri Venkateswara University with the responsibility of organising the APPGCET this year. The entrance test was conducted from June 9 to 12 across 31 subjects for 143 postgraduate courses offered by 17 universities in the state. Prof PC Venkateswarlu served as the convenor of the CET, while Prof K Surendra Babu was the co-convenor. Among those who appeared for the exam, 13,485 were women, of whom 12,025 passed, recording a pass percentage of 89 percent. Among the 8,510 men who took the test, 7,463 qualified, resulting in a pass rate of 87.7 percent. The results are available online at

Tirupati: All arrangements are in place for the smooth conduct of the Andhra Pradesh Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (AP PGCET–2025), scheduled from June 9 to 12. Sri Venkateswara University (SVU), under the aegis of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE), is fully geared up to oversee the examination, marking its return as the organising university after a four-year gap. Addressing the media on Saturday, Vice- Chancellor and Chairman of the PGCET Prof Ch Appa Rao, along with Registrar Prof M Bhupathi Naidu, convenor Prof PC Venkateswarlu and co-convenor Prof Surendra Babu, outlined the university's readiness and the comprehensive arrangements in place for the examination. 'We consider it a privilege for Sri Venkateswara University to lead AP PGCET–2025. Our team has taken all necessary steps to ensure the process is fair, inclusive and seamless for all aspirants. With bilingual question papers and efficient scheduling, we are ready to deliver a student-friendly examination experience,' the Vice-Chancellor said. A total of 25,688 candidates have applied for admission into 143 postgraduate programmes offered by 17 State universities, with nearly 25,000 seats available. The examinations will be conducted at 30 centres across the 13 erstwhile districts of Andhra Pradesh and in Hyderabad. The exam will take place in two shifts daily over four days. To avoid scheduling conflicts for candidates appearing for the DSC examination, the Physical Education paper originally slated for the morning of June 9 has been rescheduled to the afternoon of June 10. Notably, 68 differently-abled candidates will appear for the exam, and the organising committee has ensured all necessary support, including the provision of scribes, is in place to facilitate their participation. The results of AP PGCET–2025 are expected to be announced by June 25, followed by the admission process. Candidates are advised to strictly adhere to reporting times as latecomers will not be permitted to enter the examination halls.
