Huma Qureshi performed in Dil Thaam Ke from Rajkummar Rao's Maalik for free: ‘Doston se kaise paise le'
Actor Huma Qureshi is starring in a song titled Dil Thaam Ke in Rajkummar Rao's upcoming film Maalik. In an interview with India Today, she confirmed that she did not charge a fee to perform in the song as she didn't want to charge money from friends. Huma said in the interview that she fell 'in love' with the song the moment producer Jay Shewakramani (whom she called Jayu) played it for her. She also stated that shooting for Maalik felt like 'a bunch of friends coming together,' so she had to say yes. Confirming that she didn't charge a single rupee for the track, Huma said, 'Doston se kaise paise le sakte hai (How can one borrow money from friends?) It was just two days of shooting, so I felt it really wasn't necessary to take money.' However, one particular day on set turned into a 16-hour schedule, she recollected, due to a complicated shot that was 'no one's fault'. 'I don't believe in walking away, saying my shift is over. My conditioning is such that if I'm at work, I'll finish my job and then leave. So yes, it went on for 16 hours, but it wasn't planned. It was just one of those intense days on set,' she said. About Maalik Maalik is directed by Pulkit and produced by Kumar Taurani and Jay Shewakramani. It stars Rajkummar Rao, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Manushi Chhillar, and Medha Shankr. Huma makes a special appearance as Mallika in the song Dil Thaam Ke. Sachin-Jigar composed the film's music. The film will be released in theatres on 11 July. It went on floors last year and wrapped up by November. Maalik is touted to be a gangster drama about a man's rise to power in the underworld, if the promotional material is anything to go by.

Dil Thaam Ke: Huma Qureshi song in Maalik leaves internet wondering why every dance number looks like Aaj Ki Raat
The new track from Rajkummar Rao-starrer Maalik, titled Dil Thaam Ke, was released on Friday. Picturised on Huma Qureshi, the peppy track sees the actor dancing up a storm in a shed with several other female dancers. Rajkummar also appears, but barely shakes a leg with her. Fans reacted to the song and gave a thumbs up for Huma, even as comparisons with Stree 2 song Aaj Ki Raat also cropped up. Watch) In the song, Huma is seen showing off her moves in a shed with multiple other female dancers. Rajkummar, who plays a gangster, enters the shed with his men, which catches the attention of Huma. Even as she tried to tag him along to dance and loosen up a bit, he refused. Reacting to the song, a fan said, 'Huma can act and even dance so well. So good to see her.' A second fan noted, 'Huma Qureshi is such an underrated performer. What a look & those moves.' However, many users also noted the similar trend of dance numbers after the huge success of Tamannaah Bhatia's Aaj Ki Raat track from Stree 2. A user commented, 'The music, the dance steps and the whole vibe of the song are quite similar to Aj ki Raat maza husan ka song from Stree 2.' Another said, 'Why do I feel Raees vibes?' This was made in reference to the styling of Rajkummar's character, which looked quite similar to Shah Rukh Khan's style in the film Raees. 'Why is this song similar to Laila Mai Laila and even Aaj Ki Raat? Can't help,' noted another user in the comments. Produced by Kumar Taurani and Jay Shewakraman, Maalik is set to be a gritty tale of power, loyalty, betrayal, and one man's rise to rule it all. Pulkit, who is known for TV series like Bhakshak and Bose Dead/Alive, has directed the film, which will be released on July 11.

Actor Deepti Sadhwani on beauty standards in South: They don't want skinny actors
Actor Deepti Sadhwani, known for her role in 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah', recently opened up about the beauty standards in the entertainment industry. She spoke about the pressure to conform to stereotypes and how she eventually overcame an exclusive interview with Deepti recalled an incident when she was set to walk in a fashion show. However, things took a turn when the designers called her 'fat,' prompting her to undergo a drastic physical her story, the actor said, 'Before Cannes, I was supposed to walk for a fashion show and someone told me I was fat and I took it to heart. If you compare me from last year to now, I've lost 18 kg. This was around seven months ago, just before Paris Fashion Week. I was all set to be a showstopper. Everything was ready, but during trials, the outfit didn't fit. That's when I said to myself, 'I'm going to change. I'll fit into that size 8.' Eventually, I went beyond that and I came down to a size 6. I lost more than expected.' The actor further spoke about how beauty standards in showbiz can take a toll on one's mental health. She compared it to the South Indian film industry and pointed out how women have been objectified in Bollywood for the longest on the issue, she said, 'That's absolutely true. But things are changing now. Earlier, fashion shows mostly featured size four or size six models. Today, inclusivity has become a key focus.'If you go to the South, they actually prefer a fuller body, being skinny often doesn't work there. And in other regions, it's the complete opposite. This just shows how women have been objectified for the longest time. Take Tamannaah, for example. She looked stunning in 'Aaj Ki Raat', but soon after, people started calling her fat. She herself said, 'I didn't even realise I had gained weight, people just came up and told me.'Sadhwani added that Tamannaah is happy the way she is and doesn't appreciate being labelled as 'milky,' 'fat,' or 'slim'.'This objectification has long been part of the industry. It's show business, where looks often come before talent. Acting is considered only after the appearance. But thankfully, that's starting to change. People are finally beginning to value acting over just how someone looks,' the actor Sadhwani started her journey as a singer who lent her voice to tracks like 'Haryana Roadways', 'Lala Lala Lori', and 'Toot Jayein'.
