Macau set for blockbuster summer with Toy Story events, star-studded concerts

Macau's tourism and casino revenues are poised to see sustained growth in the second half of the year, as high-profile events and concerts attract an increasing number of visitors. The city has a busy concert pipeline over the next two months. Hong Kong singers like Sandy Lam, Aaron Kwok and Eason Chan will hold multiple shows in the casino hub between now and September, while South Korean actor Park Bo-gum, who starred in the TV drama, When life gives you tangerines, will meet his fans in September. At the same time, summer attractions tied to the 30th anniversary of the Hollywood blockbuster Toy Story, including character experiences with Woody and Buzz Lightyear, and art exhibitions are expected to fuel visitor numbers to the city. Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, director of the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), was confident about the tourism prospects for August, noting the city's overall hotel occupancy rate was currently close to 90 per cent. Kevin Benning, senior vice-president and property general manager of Studio City, said the hotel-casino resort on the Cotai Strip had recently seen an uptick in family visitors.

HK superstar Aaron Kwok gifts pregnant wife unlimited credit card

Aaron Kwok and Moka Fang, who tied the knot in 2017, have two daughters aged seven and six. Photo: Aaron Kwok/Instagram Hong Kong superstar Aaron Kwok is going all out to welcome his third child – and this time, it's reportedly a boy. The 59-year-old singer confirmed in June that his wife, model Moka Fang, 37, is expecting again. However, the singer-actor declined to disclose the gender of his third child then. Kwok and Fang, who tied the knot in 2017, have two daughters aged seven and six. According to Dimsum Daily, Fang is about five months pregnant. To celebrate the baby's upcoming arrival, Kwok has reportedly upgraded her credit card to one with no spending limit, giving her the freedom to splurge on whatever she desires. On top of that, the icon is said to have set aside a whopping HK$100mil (RM54.17mil) to celebrate the arrival of their third child. As Kwok seems to be especially thrilled, perhaps there is truth to the report that he found out about the baby's gender as he has long expressed a wish to have a son. When Fang was pregnant with their second child six years ago, he reportedly believed it was a boy and excitedly talked about having a male heir to inherit his collection of luxury cars and watches. More recently, Kwok apparently shared with friends a belief that daughters bring fortune, while sons might bring financial challenges. He reportedly enjoyed a winning streak at the gambling table before the births of his daughters, but experienced losses more recently – possibly a sign that a son was on the way. Despite his packed concert schedule – with upcoming shows in Macau over three consecutive weekends – Kwok reportedly plans to return home after each performance to spend time with his pregnant wife and daughters.

Now that's a push present: Aaron Kwok celebrates baby boy news with no-limit credit card for wife Moka Fang

HONG KONG, July 9 — Aaron Kwok may be known for his slick dance moves and high-octane performances, but it's his latest flex that's got fans talking — and no, it's not another luxury car. The 59-year-old Cantopop legend reportedly upgraded wife Moka Fang's supplementary credit card to a no-limit one after learning that baby number three is on the way — and it might be a boy. According to East Week, the Hong Kong superstar has been overjoyed since finding out the baby's gender and didn't hesitate to share the good news with his mahjong buddies. And if the reports are true, Kwok will be the first among the Four Heavenly Kings to have a son — Jacky Cheung, Andy Lau and Leon Lai are all dads to daughters. Kwok already has two girls, Chantalle and Charlotte, aged seven and five. But he's made no secret of wanting a son — not least to pass on his impressive collection of sports cars, watches, and what we assume is an enviable wardrobe of leather jackets. Still, some fans couldn't help but side-eye the logic. 'Wait, can't girls inherit those too?' one netizen quipped online. Another joked: 'If my husband gave me a no-limit card only because I'm having a boy, we'd be having a different conversation.' Credit card politics aside, Kwok seems committed to being a hands-on dad. He's scheduled to perform in Macau across three weekends this month, but reportedly plans to return home to Hong Kong after each show to be with Fang. Whether baby number three ends up a car-collecting mini-me or not, one thing's clear: Fang's shopping game just hit another level.
