(AP Photo/Abbie Parr) MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Trevor Larnach homered with three RBIs after Simeon Woods Richardson started with five scoreless innings, and the Minnesota Twins beat the Seattle Mariners 10-1 on Thursday after a rain delay of 4 hours and 22 minutes. Brooks Lee led off an eight-run sixth against reliever Zach Pop with a home run. Then came RBI doubles from Byron Buxton and Willi Castro, a two-run single by Carlos Correa and a two-run homer from Matt Wallner in the highest-scoring inning for the Twins since a nine-run outburst in the first at New York on April 13, 2023. Advertisement Woods Richardson (3-4) produced a superb follow-up to the six scoreless innings Joe Ryan threw in a 2-0 victory on Wednesday, helping the Twins (39-42) win consecutive games for the first time since taking three straight from June 3-5. They lost 15 of 18 after that. Emerson Hancock (3-4) started with four scoreless innings for the Mariners before Larnach's two-run shot in the fifth. Mariners catcher Mitch Garver left in the fifth inning when Wallner fouled a ball off his mask, forcing star Cal Raleigh to finish behind the plate in forfeiture of the designated hitter. Key moment Woods Richardson bent low to snag a screaming line drive leading off the fourth, flashing a big smile back at an impressed Julio Rodriguez. Advertisement Key stat The longest rain delay in Target Field's 16 seasons lasted 4:50 on June 22, 2017, before the Twins lost 9-0 to Chicago. Up next Seattle starts a three-game series at Texas on Friday, the last stop on a 10-game road trip. Mariners RHP Logan Gilbert (2-2, 3.12 ERA pitches against Rangers RHP Nathan Eovaldi (4-3, 1.56). The Twins start a three-game series at MLB-leading Detroit on Friday, considering an opener for RHP David Festa (1-2, 6.39) as they did during his last turn in the rotation. RHP Sawyer Gipson-Long (0-0, 4.58) will pitch for the Tigers. ___ AP MLB:

(AP Photo/Abbie Parr) With U.S. coach Emma Hayes giving many of her Europe-based players a break, there were several new faces on the national team Wednesday for a trio of upcoming matches against Ireland and Canada. Lindsey Heaps, Catarina Macario and Emily Fox were among the players given time off after the European season. One exception was defender Naomi Girma, who is working her way back from a calf injury. Advertisement The United States plays Ireland on June 26 in Commerce City, Colorado, and again on June 29 in Cincinnati. The team plays Canada on July 2 in Washington, D.C. The roster includes four players who have been called up to the national team for the first time: defenders Jordyn Bugg, Lilly Reale and Izzy Rodriguez, and midfielder Sam Meza. Six players on the 25-player roster have not yet appeared in a game for the senior national team. Hayes, who took over as national team coach last year, has been looking at new players as she prepares the team for the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil. She has given 27 players their first national team call-ups. 'We want to continue to improve our understanding of how we want to play and widen the player pool, and those are some of the key goals of this three-game window,' Hayes said in a statement Wednesday. 'On this roster, we have players with a varied amount of experience, and my priority is to deepen the exposures required for international soccer. These are three challenging matches and as always, we want to win, but also to make sure we are ready for the next steps.' Beleaguered RHP Bowden Francis placed on IL, while Erik Swanson DFAed by Blue Jays
embattled starter Bowden Francis, who has looked more minor league than major league, has been placed on the 15-day injured list with what the team described as right shoulder impingement. Abbie Parr/The Associated Press Photo by Abbie Parr / AP The state of the Blue Jays' pitching, already beset with issues, was thrown into upheaval well before Tuesday night's series opener against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. Create Account To begin with, embattled starter Bowden Francis, who has looked more minor league than major league, has been placed on the 15-day injured list with what the team described as right shoulder impingement. Per manager John Schneider, there's no structural damage to the shoulder. No word on what kind of structural damage exists between the ears. Francis has come unhinged for most of his starts this season, culminating with an outing in Philadelphia on the weekend when Francis walked three batters and hit two others in one inning. Equally embattled Erik Swanson was dealt a more severe fate when the right-handed reliever was designated for assignment. Swanson was the key piece the Blue Jays acquired three years ago when Teoscar Hernandez was dealt to Seattle. Your noon-hour look at what's happening in Toronto and beyond. As part of the deal, the Jays also acquired pitching prospect Adam Macko. Swanson has had his moments in Toronto, but his 2025 season has been an unmitigated disaster. The veteran began the season on the injured because of an arm injury. Since his return on June 1, Swanson wasn't able to rediscover his form and became prone to serving up home runs. In six games, Swanson recorded an ERA of 15.19. Swanson has dealt with some personal issues off the field, but he persevered, an attitude that endeared him to his teammates and coaching staff. In the bottom line world of pro sports, results are all that matter and Swanson did not deliver. The Jays, meanwhile, recalled right-hander Paxton Schultz from Triple-A Buffalo, while left-hander Justin Bruihl was selected to the major-league roster. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. One of the team's most effective relievers in high leverage is Yimi Garcia, but he remains on the injured. The team's presumptive fourth starter in Max Scherzer is scheduled to start Wednesday for the Buffalo Bisons with the goal to reach 70 pitches. If all goes well, the veteran's next start will be back in the big leagues. Scherzer's thumb injury, which was sustained in his Blue Jays debut, and Francis' on-going struggles put too much burden on the team's incumbent starters in Jose Berrios, Kevin Gausman and Chris Bassitt. Eric Lauer and Spencer Turnbull have shown flashes when called upon by the Jays. Lauer is scheduled to start Wednesday, while Turnbull looms as the bulk guy Friday. (AP Photo/Abbie Parr) Oklahoma City Thunder center Isaiah Hartenstein warms up prior to Game 4 of the NBA Finals basketball series against the Indiana Pacers, Friday, June 13, 2025, in Indianapolis. (AP Photo/Abbie Parr) INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Oklahoma City went back to the lineup it used throughout the first three rounds of the playoffs on Friday night, returning Isaiah Hartenstein to the starting five for Game 4 of the NBA Finals against Indiana. Hartenstein started alongside MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, Lu Dort and Chet Holmgren. The Hartenstein-Holmgren pairing gives the Thunder a pair of 7-footers in the opening five, and Oklahoma City was 12-4 in the Western Conference playoffs when starting that lineup. Advertisement That fivesome was also 9-4 when starting games together in the regular season. The Thunder had Hartenstein coming off the bench for the first three games of the finals, with Cason Wallace starting in his place. Indiana took two of those three games. 'We have a lot of optionality that we draw on, almost nightly,' Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said earlier in the finals. 'If you followed our team throughout the season, I think you know that flexibility and adaptability is the only constant. We're never staying the same. I know we started the same lineup in the playoffs, but our rotation night to night in these series has been incredibly variant. We think that's a strength of our team.' The change comes after Indiana scored 50 points in the paint in Game 3, after managing only 34 in each of the first two games of the series. ___ AP NBA:
