Foreign Minister participates in 49th GCC Extraordinary Ministerial Council meeting in Doha
Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the 49th Extraordinary Meeting of the GCC Ministerial Council to discuss the Iranian missile attacks that targeted the State of Qatar. A statement was issued by the Ministerial Council expressing its deep regret and strong condemnation of the missile attacks carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran, which targeted a military base in the State of Qatar. The Council considered this a clear, unacceptable, and dangerous violation by Iran of the sovereignty and airspace of the State of Qatar and the principles of good neighbourliness, as well as a blatant breach of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, regardless of any justifications or pretexts. The Council expressed its full solidarity with Qatar and its complete support for any measures it takes to preserve its security and stability. The Ministerial Council commended the capabilities of the Qatari Armed Forces in responding to the attack, affirming that the security and stability of Qatar are an integral part of the security and stability of all GCC states, and that any threat to any member state is a direct threat to all Council states. The Council underscored its categorical rejection of any infringement on the sovereignty of the State of Qatar or any threat to its security and stability. The Ministerial Council welcomed the announcement by His Excellency President Donald Trump of the United States of America, regarding the ceasefire, emphasising the necessity of an immediate halt to all military actions. The Council commended the efforts of Qatar to mediate and achieve the ceasefire, to maintain the security and stability of the region, and called on all parties to make joint efforts to seize the opportunity presented by the ceasefire for de-escalation and to adopt diplomacy as an effective means of resolving disputes. The Ministerial Council commended the success of HE President Trump in achieving a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, and called upon HE President Trump to exert efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. The Ministerial Council commended the role of the Sultanate of Oman in the US-Iranian negotiations regarding the nuclear file, and appreciated the role of Qatar, the United States, and other countries that contributed to the de-escalation, stressing the importance of continuing effective mediation efforts. The Ministerial Council stressed the importance of maintaining the security of airspace, maritime routes, and waterways in the region and countering activities that threaten the security and stability of the region and the world. The delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the meeting included Ambassador Mohammed bin Ali Al Ghatam, Ambassador of Bahrain to Qatar; Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director General of Bilateral Relations; and Ambassador Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Haidan, Head of the Legal Affairs Sector and Acting Head of the GCC Affairs Sector. A Strong and Growing Bond During the meeting, Minister Al Zayani praised the longstanding and brotherly relations between Bahrain and Palestine, noting the steady growth and cooperation in various fields. He commended Ambassador Abdul Qader for his efforts in strengthening bilateral ties and helping elevate them to broader horizons in service of shared interests and aspirations. The Minister extended his best wishes to the Ambassador for continued success in his upcoming diplomatic assignments. Bahrainis in Iran urged to register for safe return
MP Jalal Kadhem urged all Bahraini citizens currently in Iran to register their details with the Foreign Ministry and to follow official instructions to ensure their return home is handled safely and efficiently. He said these measures reflect the government's concern for the safety of its people in light of the current political and security climate in the region. Swift response The lawmaker also praised Foreign Minister, His Excellency Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, for his swift response and hands-on approach in dealing with the matter. Kadhem expressed particular thanks to the Iraqi authorities for facilitating free overland passage for Gulf nationals, allowing them to cross Iraqi territory to return home. He described this as a generous gesture that takes into account the humanitarian situation of those currently in Iran. The MP also extended his gratitude to Bahrain's ambassadors to Iraq and Kuwait, Khalid Al Mansour and Salah Al Maliki, as well as embassy staff and the relevant authorities in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia for their efforts in easing the return of citizens by land. He praised their coordination and swift response, which he said reflected genuine care for Bahraini nationals.

Foreign Minister holds talks with counterparts on regional security

Bahrain promotes ‘peaceful coexistence and dialogue'
The Kingdom of Bahrain is firmly committed to promoting global peace, dialogue, and coexistence. This was reaffirmed by His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee, as the Kingdom joins the word community in marking the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations. Dr. Al Zayani praised the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their continued efforts in positioning Bahrain as a leading model for tolerance and cultural harmony. The Foreign Minister emphasised that Bahrain's foreign policy is deeply rooted in the values of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and dialogue among cultures and civilisations — principles that reflect the Kingdom's human and cultural heritage and are fundamental to achieving peace, justice, and the protection of human rights. He highlighted the Kingdom's active role within the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and its balanced diplomacy, which advocates resolving conflicts through dialogue, rejecting extremism, and supporting initiatives that contribute to international stability, justice, and sustainable development. Dr. Al Zayani also commended key national initiatives aligned with these principles, including the launch of the 'Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration' on Freedom of Religion and Belief, and the work of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, which provides educational and cultural programs to empower youth as ambassadors of peace.
