‘Summertide' Is a Human-Scale Beachy Drama

The South African domestic drama 'Summertide,' on AcornTV, rolls in with an 'Everwood' vibe and a beachy setting. Martin (Frank Rautenbach) is a widower and marine biologist who moves back to his hometown in False Bay with his teenage son, Tristan (Jan Combrink), and tween daughter, Lucy (Evangelina Hallock). His family welcomes them with open arms and old resentments. Wouldn't you know it, Martin's childhood sweetheart Rebecca (Monique Rockman), a fancy chef who is also back in town, is glad to see him — though that's complicated somewhat by her romantic relationship with Martin's brother, Gavin (Tyrone Keogh). Martin struggles with guilt over his wife's death (the specifics of which are doled out slowly), and he is determined not to replicate with Tristan the relationship he has with his father (Andre Jacobs). Good luck to him! Tristan gets into some scrapes right away but also strikes up a romance. Lucy becomes obsessed with two local penguins. Gavin resents being perceived as a flaky man child, though he concedes he has earned it. The miracle here is that 'Summertide' is not a murder show or a cop show, at least not in the six episodes made available for review. It is sketched to a human scale, and you can feel the relationships stretch and repair in concert with one another; we see the characters experience different moods, not just different plot points. Everyone here is in a huge moment of transition, either moving or retiring or reassessing or maturing. And each wonders, Why can't you see me as I am, and especially as I am right now? How dare you think you understand me? 'Summertide' has its soapy elements. Longer arcs about the ecological health of the bay, especially as it relates to shady goings-on among local fishermen, unfurl as the season goes on. The show can afford to be relaxed in its pacing because there are 52 episodes in the first season, two of which are already streaming. That is a lot of episodes, and it engenders in the viewer the same feeling the characters share: We're in this together for the long haul.

Is ‘Whitstable Pearl' returning for season 4? Everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on July 18, 2025, 20:00 IST Last updated July 18, 2025, 12:45 IST Fans can't get enough of Whitstable Pearl , the British crime drama that's got everyone hooked on its seaside mysteries and charming characters. Picture this: Whitstable's windswept beaches, cozy pubs, and Pearl Nolan digging into the town's secrets. Season 3 left viewers craving more, but is a fourth season coming? Here's the rundown on everything known so far. Has Whitstable Pearl Season 4 Been Confirmed? Here's the deal: as of July 18, 2025, no official announcement has confirmed Whitstable Pearl Season 4. Acorn TV and Buccaneer Media, the show's producers, haven't dropped any news about a renewal. Online chatter, especially on Reddit, shows fans speculating and hoping, but nothing's set in stone. No premiere date, no production hints—zip. Still, there's reason to stay optimistic. Acorn TV jumped on renewing Season 3 before Season 2 even aired, which shows they're big on the series. The fanbase is vocal, loving the cast and that laid-back coastal charm. Julie Wassmer's books offer plenty of material to mine, so a fourth season feels like it could happen. For now, though, it's a waiting game. Keep an ear out for updates from Acorn TV. What to Expect in Whitstable Pearl Season 4? No confirmation means no solid details, but imagining what a fourth season might look like is half the fun. Based on the show's track record and fan buzz, here are some possibilities. Fresh Coastal Crimes Every season delivers new mysteries, blending quirky locals with proper suspense. Season 3 had cases like a dodgy psychic and a decades-old cold case. A fourth season would likely serve up more of that—think a shady deal at the harbor or a murder tied to a Whitstable festival. Writers like Mike Walden mix book-inspired plots with original stories, so there'd be no shortage of clever twists. Pearl and Mike: Romance or Tease? The slow-burn chemistry between Pearl and Mike keeps fans glued. Season 3 dropped hints of something deeper, but Pearl's with Tom, and Mike's got his own baggage. Would a new season finally spark something romantic, or keep stringing viewers along? The tension's half the fun, but a little progress wouldn't hurt. The Cast That Shines If Season 4 gets the go-ahead, expect the core crew back: Kerry Godliman as Pearl Nolan, the heart of every investigation. Howard Charles as Mike McGuire, all brooding intensity. Frances Barber as Dolly Nolan, tossing out one-liners and stealing scenes. Robert Webb as Tom Grant, the chill boyfriend vibe. Isobelle Molloy and Rohan Nedd as Ruby and Charlie, keeping things lively. Sophia Del Pizzo as DS Nikki Martel, who fans are begging to see more of. New guest stars could pop up for each case, and maybe some familiar faces like Kat (Emily Head) would return. Whitstable's Picture-Perfect Backdrop Whitstable's beaches, harbor, and pubs are practically characters themselves. Filming happens in real Kent spots—think Whitstable Yacht Club or The Old Neptune—plus nearby towns like Margate and Dover. A new season would likely lean into that coastal magic, maybe tossing in a fresh location for variety. Dolly Running the Show Dolly Nolan, played by Frances Barber, is a total standout. Season 3 let her play detective when Pearl was swamped, and fans on social media can't stop raving about her. A fourth season better give Dolly more chances to snoop and sling zingers—she's the secret sauce. Ahmedabad Plane Crash Aman Shukla is a post-graduate in mass communication . Under the Vines Season 4: Release date speculation, cast and plot details – Everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on June 27, 2025, 20:20 IST Last updated June 27, 2025, 20:22 IST If you're anything like me, Under the Vines has you hooked with its mix of laugh-out-loud moments, heart-tugging drama, and those jaw-dropping New Zealand vineyard views. The show, centered on two city folks stumbling through life as vineyard owners, wrapped its third season in September 2024, and fans are already itching for Season 4. So, what's the word on a new season? Let's dig into the release date rumors, who's likely coming back and what might be next for Oakley Wines. Under the Vines Season 4 Potential Release Date As of now, Acorn TV and TVNZ haven't dropped an official word on Under the Vines Season 4. But let's be real—the show's got a solid fanbase, and that Season 3 finale left us all hanging. Season 3 got the green light in October 2023 and landed on August 19, 2024, which gives us a roughly 10-month turnaround from announcement to premiere. If the show follows that vibe, we might hear about Season 4 by summer 2025, with a release sometime between August and December 2025. My guess? Late fall 2025 feels right, given the show's usual rhythm. Keep your eyes peeled on Acorn TV's socials or their website for the big reveal. Fingers crossed! Under the Vines Season 4 Expected Cast While no official cast list has been confirmed for a potential Season 4, the core ensemble from Season 3 is likely to return, given their central roles in the story. The main cast includes: Rebecca Gibney as Daisy Monroe : The former Sydney socialite who's now a dedicated vintner. Her wedding drama in Season 3 left fans wondering about her future. Charles Edwards as Louis Oakley : The reserved London lawyer whose partnership with Daisy is the show's heart. His romantic arc is a key focus. Sarah Peirse as Marissa Silverton : The cunning owner of rival Shimmering Lake vineyard, always stirring up trouble. Trae Te Wiki as Tippy Bidois : The quirky, talented winemaker at Oakley Wines, whose confidence has grown. Simon Mead as Gus : The vineyard's reliable manager, bringing humor and loyalty. Allan Henry as Vic Grimes : The local lawyer who joined in Season 3, navigating legal battles. Carrie Green as Nic Grimes : Vic's wife, whose personal story added emotional depth. Mark Mitchinson as William McVallum: The newcomer claiming half of Oakley Wines, creating major conflict. Supporting characters like Catherine Wilkin as Hilary van der Boor, the eccentric owner of Coven Wines, may also return. New characters could be introduced to add fresh drama, as seen in past seasons. Under the Vines Season 4 Potential Plot Season 3 of Under the Vines ended with big moments, particularly Daisy's wedding and the ongoing fight over Oakley Wines. The finale left fans questioning who Daisy married and whether she and Louis can secure the vineyard from William's claim. Here's what Season 4 might explore: Daisy's Wedding Aftermath : The Season 3 cliffhanger hinted at uncertainty about Daisy's groom. Season 4 could dive into her relationships and their impact on Oakley Wines. The Battle for Oakley Wines : Daisy and Louis will likely keep fighting to reclaim full ownership from William, possibly uncovering more about his past. Vineyard Shenanigans : Expect more funny mishaps and wine-making challenges as the team works to make Oakley Wines a success. Supporting Character Arcs: Tippy's growth as a winemaker, Gus' role at the vineyard, and Nic and Vic's new chapter as parents could drive compelling side stories. The show's mix of humor, heart, and gorgeous New Zealand scenery will likely continue. Writers like Erin White, Kelly Lefever, and Nick Ward are expected to keep the story fresh and engaging.
