Tyson Fury admits he is 'very bitter' about one result in boxing career

Tyson Fury was beaten twice by Oleksandr Usyk last year before he decided to hang up his gloves at the start of this year Tyson Fury remains 'bitter' about the scoring of his rematch defeat by Oleksandr Usyk. Fury was twice beaten on points by the Ukrainian last year as he suffered the first losses of his professional career. He missed out on the chance to become the undisputed heavyweight world champion and then fell short in the sequel. And according to WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman, Fury is not over the second reversal. ‌ "I call him regularly and he said: 'Oh I'm so happy, retired, I'm here with my wife.' He didn't hint whatsoever that he was planning on coming back," he told Sky Sports. "He told me he was not happy with the decision in the second fight with Usyk. ‌ "He's still very bitter about the judges' scoring and he was very upset but he was retired, that's what he said. Maybe like in The Godfather, the movie, maybe we'll hear him say: 'Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!' We don't know…" Fury has called for a trilogy fight with Usyk who must first overcome Daniel Dubois at Wembley next month. And Sulaiman would be ready to hand Fury an immediate world title shot if he does return. Speaking to Action Network, Sulaiman said:'If Tyson decides to come back to boxing, he always has a door open with the WBC. He will always be number one so absolutely (we will give him a world title shot if he returns) because he is top of the top. "He carried boxing through the dark times of the pandemic and Tyson is the one who elevated the sport and he's the one who got Saudi Arabia to look into boxing." "Spencer Brown is a tremendous influence, a great manager and now he's managing and promoting fighters. It's a great team so it's a win win (for everyone) and my love and my gold heart goes to Tyson Fury and his team." Fury has also been linked with a clash with Anthony Joshua with whom he has shared a decade-long rivalry without ever meeting in the ring. Joshua has not fought since he was knocked out by Dubois last September and is recovering from elbow surgery. He could return towards the end of the year with Deontay Wilder also on his shortlist of opponents. The American fights on Friday night for the first time since he was stopped by Zhilei Zhang last summer.

Tyson Fury to be handed immediate world title shot if he reverses retirement

The Brit shocked the world after retiring in January, but has surprisingly been offered a world title shot should he choose to make a return to the ring Tyson Fury will be offered a guaranteed world title fight should he decide to make a return to boxing. The 'Gypsy King' shocked the world earlier this year after announcing his retirement. His announcement came just a few weeks after losing to Oleksandr Usyk for a second time. Many had hoped that Fury would go head-to-head with long-time rival Anthony Joshua in 2025 following the defeat to the Ukrainian. Joshua has not fought since suffering a knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois last September. 'AJ' is set to make his return to the ring later this year after having elbow surgery. As for Fury, the former two-time heavyweight world champion has hinted at a return to the action over the last few weeks after uploading several videos of him training. The 36-year-old was recently seen training with his coach SugarHill Steward. The Brit, who was sweating slightly after potentially wrapping up a workout said: "Just in the gym, happened to bump into somebody you might know." He then shifted the camera towards the direction of an energetic and happy SugarHill - who replied: "You know what time it is!" The 'Gypsy King' had the last say before ending the story: "You know what's coming," he said. Amid reports of Fury potentially ending his retirement, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman has reassured the Brit that if he does make a comeback, there will be an immediate shot at a world title waiting for him. Speaking to Action Network, Sulaiman said:'If Tyson decides to come back to boxing, he always has a door open with the WBC. He will always be number one so absolutely (we will give him a world title shot if he returns) because he is top of the top. He carried boxing through the dark times of the pandemic and Tyson is the one who elevated the sport and he's the one who got Saudi Arabia to look into boxing." The WBC president further added: 'Spencer Brown is a tremendous influence, a great manager and now he's managing and promoting fighters. It's a great team so it's a win win (for everyone) and my love and my gold heart goes to Tyson Fury and his team.' Boxing legend George Groves has suggested Fury will take on long-time rival Joshua in either October or November - and that the fight could be announced next month. In an interview with Action Network, Groves said: "If it is going to happen, it has to happen this year they don't want to be on the couch for too long. "Anthony Joshua has just had surgery by all accounts so maybe it's all done and dusted and is pre-agreed but there is no point announcing it too early. People will lose patience with it so let Joshua's elbow recover and then it will (be a fight) which is tailored towards the end of the year maybe in Saudi Arabia. Maybe October or November but I won't be surprised if they fight each other. It is a good fight, and people will be excited about it. it will settle the score and there's a lot at stake for both guys. At certain times they were both the man, and it was like hero vs villain. Joshua was the hero, and Tyson was the villain and then it quickly turned, and it was the other way around. "But they have now both been beaten and humbled by Usyk and Joshua has been beaten by Daniel Dubois, Fury didn't look great against Francis Ngannou so there is a lot at stake for both guys because whoever wins that fight or two fights if they have signed for a rematch, can come out and say I was the best British fighter of this era or has ever been. That has a lot of value for a fighter's pride. Tyson calls himself the Gypsy King, and the People's Champion, and I bet he misses saying that. If he beats Joshua, he can go back to saying those sorts of things."

Former NFL nutritionist warns Steelers WR DK Metcalf's candy diet poses injury risk

DK Metcalf's infamous "candy diet" has come under fire from former NFL nutritionist Leslie Bonci. In a recent interview with Action Network, Bonci shared several concerns about Metcalf's eating habits: "You may be increasing the risk of injury because of not necessarily having the protein when needs over the course of the day. … There are some studies that are looking at a lot of sugar, which may — and underlying may — be pro-inflammatory, but again, it's a little bit more speculation at this point than it is science to say that it is the case. But I think it's just the wear and tear that happens. "Over the course of the season, not just the time that one is on the field, it's about having to travel and do all of these other things. The goal of eating is supposed to be supportive and to complement the activity that we do — not to work against it. To me, this is more the foe than the friend." Back in 2022, Metcalf's diet went viral when he shared with NBA star Kevin Garnett that his daily meal plan consisted of drinking one coffee, eating just one meal, and downing three bags of candy. The receiver has since claimed that he's cut back on candy, but the Steelers' nutritionists should still keep an eye on their new star wide receiver. After all, Pittsburgh invested $132 million in keeping Metcalf around long-term. For up-to-date Steelers coverage, follow us on X @TheSteelersWire and give our Facebook page a like.

Report: Nets are potential third team to help Suns trade Kevin Durant

The Brooklyn Nets have a big offseason ahead of them as they have five picks to use in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft along with plenty of cap space. Brooklyn has one week to figure out who they will be drafting, but it seems like they are doing something behind the scenes to improve their current standing. "League sources have said the Nets were brought in as a potential third-team in a deal construct, which would have helped move money and contracts to help both teams reshape their rosters," Action Network's Matt Moore reported on Wednesday. Moore was discussing the Phoenix Suns as they explore trades for Kevin Durant after the 2024-25 season ended in disappointing fashion with the superstar. Advertisement "No idea what they were getting or sending, but I would speculatively bet Nic Claxton to Phoenix was part of those talks," Moore continued. Brooklyn has been navigating this season with the patience of a team rebuilding for the long term, but they are also keeping their options open along the way. Plenty of people around the league have maintained that the Nets would be best served by using the league-leading cap space they have to assist teams in trades with the goal of acquiring draft capital and/or young players. With teams like the Suns and the Boston Celtics that have moves to make, but need some help, Brooklyn could be the team that help others while benefitting at the same time. As of this writing, the teams that Durant is interested in being traded to are the Miami Heat, Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs, but the Heat and Rockets would need a way to open up enough salary to take on Durant's contract. If Moore's report is any indication of what is happening in the background, the Nets are trying to take advantage of other teams looking to make changes this offseason. Looking for the best staycations in Arizona? These 2 cities topped list of US travel spots

If you're craving a summer vacation but don't have the budget to go on a trip, a local "getaway" can be a fun alternative. A recent survey from The Vacationer found that 82% of Americans plan to travel this summer. But with rising costs due to inflation and tariffs, many people are rethinking their travel plans or cutting back on expenses. Luckily for Arizonans, two cities in the state made it into the top 15 U.S. cities for staycations, with a wide range of options for entertainment and relaxation at affordable prices, according to a recent WalletHub study. Staying local also means saving on flights and hotel stays. But if you're craving that resort experience, you can still get it for less. As a bonus, many Arizona hotels offer steep discounts in the summer when fewer tourists visit due to the scorching desert heat. That means you can lounge by the pool or enjoy a spa day at a fraction of high-season prices. "A staycation can save you a lot of money while being just as memorable," said WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo. "Not only do you avoid the cost of overnight accommodations and minimize travel costs, but you can also discover all kinds of fun activities close to home that you might not have tried out otherwise." Here's a look at the best Arizona cities for staycations, WalletHub's national rankings, and some local hotel deals to help you plan the perfect summer escape—without leaving the state. Tucson ranked highest in Arizona, landing at No. 12 nationally. The city mostly stood out for its rich food and entertainment scene. Earlier this year, Tucson was named one of the most entertaining cities in the U.S.— right behind heavy-hitters like New York, Las Vegas and Chicago. According to the Action Network, Tucson shines with live theaters, cultural attractions, museums and outdoor experiences — all backed by social media buzz. This southern Arizona gem offers local highlights like Grammy-winning artist Linda Ronstadt's favorite bakery, Barrio Bread, and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Food lovers can enjoy authentic dishes at El Charro Café, while outdoor enthusiasts can escape the heat with stunning views from Mount Lemmon. Scottsdale followed right behind at No. 13, scoring high for recreation options. With luxurious resorts, relaxing spas, fine dining and plenty of family-friendly fun, Scottsdale makes it easy to feel like a tourist in your own city. And the best part is you don't need a big budget to enjoy it. According to Scottsdale's tourism website, the best time to take advantage to these amenities is during a summer staycation, when "locals can access five-star luxury at three-star prices," the website states. These 15 cities are the best for staycations, according to WalletHub: Cincinnati Orlando Las Vegas Honolulu Chicago St. Louis Tampa, Florida Salt Lake City Atlanta San Diego Portland, Oregon Tucson Scottsdale New Orleans Denver These are the 15 worst cities for staycations, listed from worst to best, according to WalletHub: Yonkers, New York Fremont, California Pearl City, Hawaii Chula Vista, California Hialeah, Hawaii Irving, Texas Oakland, California Santa Ana, California Anaheim, California New Haven, Connecticut Santa Clarita, California Newark, New Jersey Bridgeport, Connecticut Huntington, New York Jersey City, New Jersey Here are some of the best summer 2025 staycation deals in Arizona. Talking Stick Resort's Summer Playcation Package offers starting rates of $139 Sundays through Thursdays and $169 Fridays and Saturdays, plus discounts on treatments at The Spa at Talking Stick and cabana rentals and $25 in free casino play. Arizona residents with valid ID do not have to pay the $25 per night resort fee. The North Phoenix family resort, home to the AquaRidge Waterpark, is offering two deals for summer 2025. The Savings on Summer package offers up to 35% off best available rates plus a $100 daily resort credit, self-parking for one vehicle and a $10 game card to Copper Alley, the resort's arcade bar. The package starts at $334 per night. The Wigwam's Summertime and Sunshine package offers a low starting rate and a $75 daily credit for the resort's restaurants, spa and golf courses. Rates start at $169 per night. Following roller rink and summer camp-inspired summer events in past years, Fairmont Scottsdale Princess has a Wild West theme for Summer at the Princess 2025. Activities include gem panning, campfire stories, horseshoe tossing and a Western-themed miniature golf course. As is tradition, the summer festivities also include a staycation deal − up to 40% off best available rates for a limited time. Rates start around $300 per night with the discount. To find the best places in the U.S. for a staycation, WalletHub looked at 182 cities, including the 150 biggest cities plus at least two major cities from each state. They scored each city based on three main areas: Recreation, like parks, pools, hiking trails and bike lanes. Food and entertainment, including restaurants, coffee shops, theaters and nightlife. Rest and relaxation, such as spas, beaches, and the cost of relaxing services like massages. They used 41 different factors in total, such as how many parks or restaurants a city has per person and how much it costs to see a movie or get a massage. Each factor was scored on a 100-point scale, with higher scores meaning better conditions for a staycation. For population-based metrics, WalletHub adjusted the numbers to compare smaller and larger cities fairly. Finally, they averaged all the scores (based on how much each factor was worth) to give each city a final score and ranking. Data came sources like the U.S. Census, Yelp, TripAdvisor, and others, and was collected in May 2025. Republic reporter Michael Salerno contributed to this article.
