Famous Irish pub in US reopens after SUV crashes into it
The Celtic Crossing Irish Pub & Restaurant marked the occasion with a new 'Irish Detour' cocktail The damage caused to the bar as reported by Action News A popular Irish pub in Memphis is celebrating its reopening having been closed after a SUV crashed into it. The Celtic Crossing Irish Pub & Restaurant marked the occasion with a new 'Irish Detour' cocktail as the pub opened its doors while repairs continue. The bar, located at Cooper Street and Oliver Avenue was badly damaged on June 30 when a SUV crashed through the patio fence and struck a tree at around 9am. The bar's patio broke in half, local media reports, as the car was removed while the driver of the vehicle was transported to the hospital in non-critical condition. The damage caused to the bar as reported by Action News News in 90 Seconds - Thursday, July 3 As the clean-up and rebuilding process continues, a spokesperson for the restaurant said guests are still welcome. A tent will be set up to provide shade while live music will continue as scheduled. "The outpouring of support and kindness we've received from our incredible community and neighbors has been nothing short of overwhelming, a spokesperson for the bar told the news site Commercial Appeal. '"We're eternally grateful to the City of Memphis, our amazing first responders, dedicated contractors, tireless staff, and our supportive family and friends for their unwavering efforts in getting the pub back on its feet." In an earlier statement the bar said: 'Our team is currently dedicating their attention to this incident. We are very thankful there were no injuries among our staff, and we're keeping the driver in our thoughts.' Police say the crash occurred because the driver fell unconscious because of a medical issue. That driver was given a citation for striking a fixed object and financial responsibility.
