Sony WH-1000XM6 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones — Review

Active noise cancellation (ANC), comfort, and sound quality are the core pillars of a competent headset, and Sony seems to have mastered the formula with its WH-1000 series of offerings. From its early days to the more recent WH-1000XM4 and XM5, the persistent fan favourite has never failed to stick the landing…until now. Stepping back into the fold after three years, the arrival of the WH-1000XM6 spells excitement for audio enthusiasts and casual listeners. The pair of headphones is immediately familiar right out of the box, sporting the same premium and fresh look that users have come to love, with a welcome bonus in tow: the return of its signature foldable design, making it more suited for travelling. Weighing in at 254 grams, the XM6 is only slightly heavier than its predecessor (259g), leaving no complaints about its compact build. Other notable features include a new 12-mic setup, a Sony QN3 chip that promises a sevenfold increase in noise-cancelling speed, 30mm drivers, and more. While the headset continues to dominate in the field of active noise cancelling (ANC), its tight clamping force proves to be one of its major missteps, alongside a steep price tag of S$649. This flip-flopping is perhaps the best description of the entire experience — for every strength that it brings, there will also be an accompanying downside. Check out our full review in the video above. Summary The Sony WH-1000XM6 remains the king of the hill when it comes to ANC, but the clamping force and overall comfort make it difficult to justify the hefty price tag. Apple's noise-cancelling Beats Fit Pro are simply irresistible at this huge new discount

Are you having a hard time choosing the best wireless earbuds to pair with your iPhone or Android handset this summer? Amazon-owned Woot is here right now to make your decision... even more difficult in the best way possible. That's because the bargain-specialized e-tailer is selling the Beats Fit Pro at a simply unbeatable and irresistible price of $109.95 for a limited time. We're talking four days max at the time of this writing, and if you hurry, you can pick from three different colorways at the exact same monumental $90 discount from a regular price of $199.95. $90 off (45%) True Wireless Earbuds with Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency Mode, Adaptive EQ, Spatial Audio with Dynamic Head Tracking, Apple H1 Chip, IPX4 Water Resistance, Secure-Fit Wingtips for All-Day Comfort and Stability, Up to 6 Hours of Listening Time, 24 Hours of Combined Battery Life, Android and iOS Support, Three Color Options, New, 1-Year Manufacturer Warranty Included Buy at Woot True Wireless Earbuds with Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency Mode, Adaptive EQ, Spatial Audio with Dynamic Head Tracking, Apple H1 Chip, IPX4 Water Resistance, Secure-Fit Wingtips for All-Day Comfort and Stability, Up to 6 Hours of Listening Time, 24 Hours of Combined Battery Life, Android and iOS Support, Two Color Options Buy at Amazon Perhaps not as flashy as the "Transparent" Studio Buds Plus and certainly not as sophisticated as the recently released Powerbeats Pro 2, these bad boys do still offer flawless all-day comfort and stability at the gym, in the classroom, or out in the park thanks to their flexible wingtips, as well as active noise cancellation and personalized spatial audio with dynamic head tracking. Compared to the hugely popular AirPods Pro 2, the slightly less successful Apple-made Beats Fit Pro provide native support for Android devices from any and all brands in addition to your new or old iPhone. Of course, some handy features, like Audio Sharing and Hey Siri, are only available in combination with another Apple product, but for the most part, you should be pretty content with the connectivity and sound performance even if you use the Fit Pro alongside a Samsung Galaxy or Motorola phone . The battery life is yet another key strength, at up to 7 hours of uninterrupted listening time and 30 hours with the bundled charging case factored in, and the IPX4 water resistance is not bad either, especially for 110 bucks. Keep in mind that your $109.95 will buy you a standard 1-year manufacturer warranty right now at Woot, so there's really no logical reason to turn down this amazing money-saving opportunity, especially with the best comparable first-party Amazon deal at the moment listing the Beats Fit Pro at $60 more after a humbler $30 discount from the aforementioned $199.95 regular price.

Tesla's new Model S and X vehicles are now available in the US

Tesla has officially launched new versions of the Model S and the Model X in the US. As Electrek notes, however, the upgrades may not be quite as big or compelling as one could hope when the vehicles now cost $5,000 more. The automaker has posted a list of updates for the vehicles on X, including a new Frost Blue paint color option and a range of up to 410 miles for the Model S Long Range version, which is Tesla's longest range yet. Getting the Frost Blue paint will cost buyers $2,500 more, however, and the new range is only 5 miles longer than the previous versions. The company said the vehicles are now quieter inside, thanks to a more effective Active Noise Cancellation feature, and that their interiors now come with dynamic ambient lighting with unique animations. They can run more smoothly due to their new bushings and suspension design, and their new wheel designs enable the longer range. In addition, the models now have a new front bumper camera for better visibility, as well as adaptive driving beams. Model S Plaid's new exterior styling was apparently optimized for high-speed stability. Meanwhile, Model X now has more space for third row passengers and cargo. Take note that the base vehicles come with 19-inch wheels, but customers can upgrade with 20-to-22-inch wheels for $4,500 more. Tesla only sold approximately 50,000 Model S and X vehicles around the world last year, whereas it delivered over 1.7 million Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. Whether these changes can convince people to buy the Models S and X remains to be seen. The Model S will now cost customers at least $84,990, while the Model Y will set them back at least $89,990. Amazon Slashes AirPods 4 Prices Just Before Prime Day, Now Closer to $0 Than $200

AirPods 4 are dominating Amazon this June and both Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) models and the non-ANC models of the new wireless earbuds are priced lowest ever. The non-ANC AirPods 4 currently cost $99 which is a price reduction from their initial price of $129. Meanwhile, ANC-packed high-end model with transparency mode and adaptive audio costs $148 compared to $179. See AirPods Without ANC at Amazon See AirPods With ANC at Amazon Same But Different The two devices only differ in their feature sets, specifically how they handle noise: The standard AirPods 4 offer spatial audio tailored to the listener, more comfort and all the core features that make Apple's earbuds a success without active noise cancellation. The advanced version includes ANC, adaptive audio and transparency mode which makes it ideal for users who want to block noises. They are both based on the new H2 chip which powers improved sound quality and better call performance. The quick-press controls on the stem allow you to naturally control music playback or take calls and the optical in-ear sensor stops sound from playing should the earbuds not be seated in your ears. Personalized spatial audio feature supported by dynamic head tracking immerses you in a movie-like listening environment. Call and sound quality have significantly been improved by the H2 chip: Voice isolation tech limits background noise while calling and separates and cleans up your voice so that you can enjoy crystal-clear calls even in a packed space. The AirPods 4 also feature hands-free 'Hey Siri' voice commands and with Siri interactions having been upgraded lately, you are now able to answer Siri with a nod or shake of the head. Battery life is also a major plus: One charge provides AirPods 4 with five hours of listening time, and with the charging case, you have a total of 30 hours of listening time. The case has been redesigned to be more than 10 percent smaller than previous cases which makes it even easier to carry. USB-C charging quicker and more convenient than eve, is supported on the case. For the ones who are concerned with how long they can last, the AirPods 4 and their case both have an IP54 rating for dust, sweat, and water resistance, so they'll withstand rain and intense exercise. With Amazon's current sale, there's never been a better time to take advantage of all that the AirPods 4 has to offer. See AirPods Without ANC at Amazon See AirPods With ANC at Amazon

Apple just leveled up AirPods: Here's what's new

Image credit: Getty Images Apple on June 9 unveiled new features for AirPods 4, AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), and AirPods Pro 2, introducing studio-quality audio recording and remote camera controls designed to elevate content creation and communication. The latest updates allow users to capture high-quality vocals on the go, even in noisy environments, thanks to enhanced Voice Isolation and beamforming microphones, an Apple newsroom report said. Read- Creators, including podcasters, interviewers, and musicians, can now record clearer, more natural-sounding audio directly through their AirPods, leveraging Apple's H2 chip and advanced computational audio. The new audio recording features integrate seamlessly across iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and are compatible with the Camera app, Voice Memos, Messages dictation, FaceTime, CallKit-supported apps, and third-party video conferencing platforms like Webex. Hands-free camera control for effortless content creation Additionally, Apple introduced a remote camera control feature. By pressing and holding the AirPods stem, users can start or stop video recordings or snap photos using the Camera app or supported third-party apps. This feature aims to simplify hands-free content creation, especially for users recording themselves singing, dancing, or performing. 'With these updates, AirPods are becoming an even more powerful tool for creators and communicators,' Apple said in a statement. The enhancements are expected to roll out in an upcoming software update later this year. Apple Intelligence expands across devices On the same day, Apple also announced new Apple Intelligence features designed to enhance the user experience across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. Apple Intelligence introduces capabilities such as Live Translation, enhanced visual intelligence, and creative tools like Image Playground and Genmoji, offering users new ways to communicate, understand, and express themselves. Shortcuts now tap directly into Apple Intelligence, and developers can access the on-device large language model powering it — optimized for speed, privacy, and offline use. These features are now available for testing and will roll out broadly this fall on supported devices and languages. Apple also revealed plans to expand Apple Intelligence language support by the end of the year to include Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish, Turkish, Chinese (Traditional), and Vietnamese.
