Actor Ronit Roy has been juggling between TV, films, and OTT. Recently, Ronit Roy spoke to SCREEN, talking about his latest role. He also spoke about Kyunki Saas Bhi Thi returning to Indian television. Also Read: Ronit Roy says he was forced to start security agency due to 'hunger, poverty': 'My life went into gutter, I started drinking' A post shared by Sony Entertainment Television (@sonytvofficial) Talking about his comeback on TV, Ronit Roy said, 'The reason for such a long gap in television is obviously because I do films and OTT as well, and I was busy with my other work. Nothing was interesting. When this came up, the producer is a friend and an old colleague, and I did a show called Adaalat with the channel for five years. Luckily, this wasn't a role where there were too many challenges; only some physical effort was needed to look like a warrior and be able to wield a heavy sword, so I took training for that.' Ronit also discussed how TV content has been going downhill for a while now. 'TV has been in a downward spiral for a very long time now, obviously when new mediums come in, viewership gets divided, and now people's viewing habits have changed. They want to watch content on the go, so traditional TV has been on the decline. We could do a little uptick in the content itself, a time will come where there will be a finite long long-running series of 50-80 episodes where the storyline is clear. The actors will also have a sense of where they are going; when that time comes, it will be a good one,' he said. Confirming that Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 is indeed returning, Ronit said he has some very fond memories from the show. Talking about his co-star Smriti Irani, Ronit shared, 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is coming back. I wish the makers, cast, and crew of this season all the very best. I have very fond memories attached to this show, Balaji was like home ground for me. It was a game-changer in my career. Smriti is one of my favorite colleagues and is like my little sister. It was a very warm relationship and remains so to date.' On the film front, Ronit will be next seen in Maa alongside Kajol. Talking about the film he said, 'Maa is releasing on 27th of this month, it was an amazing experience to work with Ajay Devgn's production, the icing on the cake was working and spending time with Kajol on the sets. She is a truly amazing human being and an amazing actor, there was lots to learn from her. Her energy levels, her recuperance, and sense of humor are all very lit.' On his latest show, Ronit Roy plays the role of King Someshwar, the show airs on Sony TV every Monday to Friday at 7:30 pm. Ronit Roy credits his roles as Mr. Bajaj and Mihir Virani for shaping both his career and life
Mumbai: Veteran television actor Ronit Roy reflected on the two roles that defined his journey in the entertainment industry. The actor credited his portrayal of Mr. Bajaj in 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay' and Mihir Virani in 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' as the cornerstones of his career, calling them both life- and career-shaping milestones that helped him grow as a performer and as a person. Speaking to IANS, Roy shared how both roles not only brought him widespread recognition but also deeply influenced his personal and professional growth. The 'Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan' actor also credited producer Ekta Kapoor for entrusting him with both transformative roles, calling them 'career-shaping' in his journey. Ronit Roy shared, 'Yes, my role of Mr. Bajaj in Kasautii Zindagii Kay was, and to this date it remains, an iconic role. And I'm just happy and proud to have gotten the role, and I'm grateful for what the role has contributed to my life and to my character. And I thank Ekta Kapoor for having given me that role and also the role of Mihir in Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.' These are my two career-shaping and life-shaping roles.' Ronit Roy is widely known for stepping into the iconic role of Mihir Virani in the hit television drama 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.' He replaced Amar Upadhyay after his exit from the show. Later, Roy earned recognition for portraying the intense and enigmatic character of Rishabh Bajaj in 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay.' Further, when asked about the defining moments that shaped his rise from early struggles to becoming a household name, the 'Adaalat' actor acknowledged that, like many, his journey has been filled with life-shaping experiences and ongoing challenges. Ronit Roy mentioned, 'There were a lot of, you know, life-shaping and life-defining moments. Of course, everybody has them. There are a lot of battles to be fought. Some are won, some are lost, and some are kept for another time. The struggle never really ends at every level. There is a new struggle to break forward and upward. And as we speak, the struggle continues. Now, of course, the struggle is to find good work, get good work, and do it, you know, in a way where it is appreciated by the people who are making the project and by the most important part of filmmaking, the audience.'
