1000 Mile Travel Group co-founder Ben Ross launches Adamaz
Ben Ross, co-founder of host agency 1000 Mile Travel Group, has left the host to start a new company focused on agency acquisition and succession planning, Adamaz Travel.
Adamaz is targeting small to mid-sized businesses that might not be large enough for a traditional acquisition or might not receive the purchase price they hoped for but are still valuable businesses, Ross said.
"Adamaz was really formed to fill that gap, that void, if you like," he said. "It's sort of like, 'I don't want to sell to one of the big guys,' because they don't want their businesses to get rebranded. They don't want their people to be out of a job."
The company is funding its acquisitions through a venture capitalist.
Ross said acquisition models will vary by agency depending on what works best for the agency owner.
Adamaz is not putting a cap on the number of agencies it will acquire.
"It is more about making sure we are both the right fit for each other," Ross said. "The plan is to retain the brands where [it] makes sense, the people and clients, and consolidate the back of house in finance, marketing, technology and ticketing, and any business we acquire will have full access to these resources."
Adamaz also offers succession planning services for agencies.
The company officially launched in the U.S., Australia and New Zealand this month.
Ross co-founded 100 Mile Travel Group with his wife, Nicola Veltman, who remains at the helm of the host agency. It entered the U.S. market when it was acquired by Corporate Travel Management (CTM) in 2022. CTM's leisure host agency business MTravel was rebranded and integrated into 1000 Mile Travel Group later that year.
