Exclusive: Aditya Roy Kapur shares his views on modern-day relationships! Says I don't think there's anything complex about them

Aditya Roy Kapur While he started his career 16 years ago with supporting roles, Aditya Roy Kapur gradually moved on to playing the leading man in intense romantic dramas. Whether he's playing a lovelorn hero in Aashiqui 2 or a brooding guy in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, the actor has often found himself at the centre of stories about complex relationships on screen. In a candid conversation with us, he shares his take on modern-day relationships and more: 'Relationships are all about communicating with each other' Despite the ever-evolving dynamics of dating, Aditya believes relationships aren't as complicated as they're made out to be. The actor, who was recently seen in Metro… In Dino, shares, 'I don't think there's anything really complex about modern day relationships. If both people are completely committed to a relationship, it should be easy. It doesn't change with time. It's all about communicating and spending time with each other. ' 'Your relationship with your friends can easily take a backseat if you don't nurture it' Talking about nurturing relationships amid the hectic lives that we lead, he says, 'It is challenging to nurture relationships in such a fast-paced environment. It becomes difficult to stay in touch as you get older and everyone gets busy. Many people get married, have children and go on to focus on their careers. When you get older you are unable to meet your friends the way you could earlier. So, your relationship with your friends can very easily take a backseat if you don't give it attention, nurture it and make it a point to stay in touch. I think it's important to check on your friends from time to time.' 'I make it a point to stay connected with my close friends' While social media connects us, he questions whether these connections are truly meaningful. He says, 'All of us now are so hyperconnected, sending each other memes, reels and random things all day. So, you think you're connected, but you actually aren't. Having actual conversations and spending time with each other keeps your relationship going. So, we can very easily get seduced into thinking that we all are really talking to each other, but that's not the case. You have to be conscious about keeping up with your friends even when you're constantly on the run. I make it a point to stay connected with my close friends.'

The haunting music and raw chemistry between the leads left a lasting impression on fans of tragic romance. For those yearning for more stories in the same emotional vein, here are six Bollywood movies that feel just like Saiyaara —deeply romantic, heartbreakingly beautiful, and unforgettable. 1. Aashiqui 2 (2013) This timeless musical tragedy is the go-to recommendation for Saiyaara fans. Much like Saiyaara, its soundtrack is iconic, and the narrative leaves a lasting emotional impact. 2. Lootera (2013) Set in the 1950s, Lootera is a visually stunning period romance starring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha. The story unfolds slowly but surely, layering themes of betrayal, healing, and longing. Its poetic tone and tragic ending resonate deeply with fans of bittersweet love stories like Saiyaara. 3. Rockstar (2011) Ranbir Kapoor delivers one of his most powerful performances in Rockstar, a film that explores the pain of love through the eyes of an artist. The music by A.R. Rahman is unforgettable, and the story's emotional arc will hit hard if you connect with Saiyaara 's emotional intensity. 4. Sanam Teri Kasam (2016) This underrated romantic drama starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane is a rollercoaster of emotions. With an old-school love story, dramatic twists, and a tear-jerking conclusion, Sanam Teri Kasam is perfect for fans of passionate and painful love tales. 5. Ek Villain (2014) Ek Villain mixes thriller and tragedy to tell a powerful love story. Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor's chemistry, combined with a tragic turn of events and a memorable soundtrack (especially 'Galliyan'), makes this a must-watch for anyone moved by Saiyaara 's intensity. 6. Shiddhat (2021) A modern-day take on soulmates and fate, Shiddhat explores how far someone can go for love. With layered storytelling, beautiful visuals, and emotional performances by Sunny Kaushal and Radhika Madan, this film feels like a spiritual cousin to Saiyaara. If Saiyaara made you believe in the beauty and pain of love, these six Bollywood films will continue that emotional journey. From tearful finales to sweeping soundtracks, each movie offers something special for those who crave cinematic romance that lingers long after the credits roll.

Aditya Roy Kapur reveals his go-to meal to start the day: ‘Been eating the same breakfast for last 8 years'

Did you know Aditya Roy Kapur has stuck to the same kind of breakfast for almost a decade now? In conversation with Kareena Kapoor Khan on her podcast What Women Want, he once shared his go-to meal to start the day with. 'I've been eating the same breakfast for the last 8 years, I think. It's basically oats, infused with some flavour, and eggs are also infused in that. You don't even come to know there are eggs in it. You don't feel eggy, it feels really nice. And I get a kick of something sweet in the morning, with a little fruit,' he told the host. Is it a healthy meal? Deepalakshmi, a registered dietitian at Shree Balaji Medical Centre in Chennai, told that this meal provides a balanced mix of complex carbohydrates, quality protein, healthy fats, and antioxidants, making it a well-rounded choice for starting the day. 'Oats offer slow-digesting carbohydrates that help maintain energy levels and improve digestion thanks to their fiber content. Eggs contribute high-quality protein necessary for muscle repair and satiety. Berries add antioxidants, which help reduce oxidative stress and support immunity, while nuts offer healthy fats that benefit brain and heart health,' she explained. According to Deepalakshmi, the health benefits of this breakfast extend beyond basic nutrition. 'It helps regulate blood sugar levels, keeps hunger at bay for longer periods, and supports metabolism and muscle recovery — particularly important for individuals who follow an active lifestyle,' she said. Additionally, having a fiber- and protein-rich breakfast like this can enhance focus and energy throughout the morning. The combination of eating before drinking coffee also reflects a mindful approach to avoid common issues like acidity or stomach discomfort. However, there are a few risks and precautions to consider. 'While oats are generally healthy, they contain phytic acid, which may slightly reduce the absorption of minerals, although this is not a concern for most people when consumed as part of a varied diet,' said Deepalakshmi, adding that even though eggs are nutritious, they should be consumed in moderation, especially by individuals with elevated cholesterol levels. Nuts are nutrient-dense but also calorie-dense, so portion control is important, particularly for those managing their weight. Additionally, people with sensitivities may need to watch their berry intake to avoid bloating or discomfort. Overall, she said that this breakfast is safe for daily consumption for most individuals, especially those with active lifestyles. It delivers a good balance of macronutrients and supports long-term health when paired with regular physical activity. However, personal dietary needs should always be considered — someone sedentary may require adjustments in portion sizes, and those with specific health conditions, such as high cholesterol or food allergies, should modify ingredients accordingly. Consulting with a dietitian can help tailor this meal to individual health goals.

Released in 2017, the film was a Hindi remake of Mani Ratnam's film 'OK Kanmani'. Johar revealed that despite his initial doubts, he decided to proceed with the project. He now views the Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer a misstep. In a conversation with podcaster Jay Shetty, the 53-year-old filmmaker reflected on the decisions leading up to the film's production. "At that time, Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor just had a hit, 'Aashiqui 2'. They had already agreed to do the film, and the film came to me as a project. Ready. With a great remake. Shaad Ali–a great director. Wonderful actors. And yet, in my heart, I actually felt, 'Should this film be remade?' Because it is so much in the moment. 'Can the moment be recaptured?,'" he stated. Johar noted that the film's underwhelming reception could be attributed to his decision not to trust his instincts. He commented, "It wasn't anyone's fault. Everyone did their job well. But deep down, I knew it wasn't the right move–and I didn't act on it. Even today, I sometimes don't listen to my instincts. And when I don't, I go wrong. It's a mistake I keep making." The 2017 release of 'OK Jaanu' was met with great anticipation, given its original success. However, it failed to resonate with audiences as expected. Now, the film-maker is gearing up for the release of upcoming production 'Dhadak 2'. Directed by Shazia Iqbal, the film is produced by Johar's Dharma Productions. Starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, the film is slated for release on August 1.
