Adolis Garcia leads 14-hit attack as Rangers thrash O's
July 2 - Adolis Garcia had three hits and drove in four to back six solid innings from ace Jacob deGrom as the Texas Rangers walloped the Baltimore Orioles 10-2 on Tuesday in the middle game of a three-game series in Arlington, Texas. Alejandro Osuna hit his first career home run, Corey Seager and Jonah Heim added two hits each and Marcus Semien scored three times as the Rangers evened the series and snapped a two-game losing streak. Texas outhit the Orioles 14-7. deGrom (9-2) was not as dominant as he was on June 25 when he carried a no-hitter into the eighth against Baltimore, but he was still very good. deGrom allowed two runs on five hits over six innings while walking one and striking out six to win his fifth straight decision. Jacob Latz pitched the final three innings to earn the first save of his career. Brandon Young (0-3) allowed three runs on six hits and two walks in four innings for the Orioles. He struck out four. Ramon Urias had two hits and Gary Sanchez had a two-run homer to lead Baltimore's offense. The Rangers struck first with three runs in the third. Sam Haggerty and Josh Smith singled to open the frame and Marcus Semien walked with one out to load the bases. Garcia followed with a single to center that scored Haggerty and Smith. One out later, Heim singled home Semien to give deGrom a three-run cushion. Baltimore pared its deficit to 3-2 in the fourth when Sanchez belted a homer that enabled Gunnar Henderson, who singled, to score in front of him. Texas got those runs back in the fifth when the 22-year-old Osuna ripped a two-out, two-run homer to right off Orioles reliever Matt Bowman. Garcia's single in the sixth off Bowman pushed across Seager and Semien to expand the lead to 7-2. Texas added three runs in the eighth after Orioles reliever Gregory Soto hit Seager with a pitch and walked Semien and pinch hitter Michael Helman to load the bases. A wild pitch allowed Seager to trot home, and Justin Foscue followed with a two-run double. --Field Level Media

Mets Blockbuster Trade Idea Brings 2023 World Series Hero to New York
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The New York Mets entered Tuesday having lost 13 of their last 16 games. They have a need in the outfield that they could address this month. Tyrone Taylor has been the team's primary centerfielder. However, he is hitting just .223 with a .606 OPS. Jeff McNeil has seen some time in centerfield as of late, but the Mets need him at second base to solidify the infield. The Mets should have options available to them at the trade deadline. Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter proposed this trade that would bring Adolis García from the Texas Rangers to New York: Mets receive: OF Adolis García Rangers receive: RHP Anthony Nunez HOUSTON, TEXAS - OCTOBER 23: Adolis Garcia #53 of the Texas Rangers celebrates after hitting a solo home run against Jose Urquidy #65 of the Houston Astros during the eighth inning in Game Seven of... HOUSTON, TEXAS - OCTOBER 23: Adolis Garcia #53 of the Texas Rangers celebrates after hitting a solo home run against Jose Urquidy #65 of the Houston Astros during the eighth inning in Game Seven of the American League Championship Series at Minute Maid Park on October 23, 2023 in Houston, Texas. More Carmen Mandato//Getty Images García is an electric player who could play a big role in the Mets making a World Series run. The two-time All-Star is hitting just .225 this year, but has the potential to get hot and potentially carry a team. In 2023, he slashed .323/.382/.726 in the postseason and helped the Rangers win the World Series. He even hit a walk-off home run in Game 1 of the Fall Classic. "The Rangers' motivation for moving him will be offloading what is left of his $9.25 million salary, so the prospect return won't be major, but they should be able to bring back at least one useful piece," wrote Reuter. García would be a low-risk, high-reward type of player. He dominated in the lone postseason he ever played in. Perhaps a change of scenery could get him to start swinging the bat better as well.
