Tomorrowland fire: Electronic dance music festival main stage burns to ground days before Belgium event

Just two days before one of the world's biggest and most renowned electronic dance music festivals was set to get underway, a fire has destroyed the main stage, with organisers scrambling as visitors from around the world arrive. Tomorrowland, an annual event held in Boom, Belgium, welcomes around 400,000 festival goers from all around the world to party around a larger that life set. The main stage set, often made up of moving parts around stunning visuals, will not feature in the 2025, event due to the serious damage from a devastating fire. 'Due to a serious incident and fire on the Tomorrowland Mainstage, our beloved Mainstage has been severely damaged,' Tomorrowland said in a statement online. 'We can confirm that no one was injured during the incident.' Tomorrowland said that it would still welcome guests to 'DreamVille', the official campsite for the mammoth event from Thursday. Just days out from the main event, Tomorrowland said it was working to find a solution. 'We are focused on finding solutions for the festival weekend (Friday – Saturday – Sunday),' the group said in a statement. 'More updates and detailed information will be communicated as soon as possible.' Video from the furious blaze quickly circulated online, showing the devastating extent of damage caused by the blaze. The footage shows the icy mountain stage design becoming fully engulfed by flames before being reduced to just metal poles. Musicians and fans were quick to support festival producers. 'Sending so much love and happy to hear everybody is safe,' artist Martin Garrix said. 'Glad everyone is safe ❤️,' Afrojack wrote. 'We all know how strong Tomorrowland is when it comes to rising above it all,' Alok wrote on Instagram. 'Tml is more than the MainStage! Sending the best energy!' Event organises have promised to keep festival goers updated as they move rapidly to find a solution within 48 hours of the event getting underway.

S2O Korea returns with splashing beats

From global EDM stars to signature water-soaked experience, the Songkran-inspired festival to hit Seoul A musical downpour is coming to South Korea, both literally and figuratively. S2O Korea is set to take place July 12–13 at Seoul Land in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province. Inspired by Thailand's traditional Songkran water festival, S2O debuted in Korea in 2022. Drawing over 40,000 attendees last year, it has quickly established itself as one of the country's representative summer festivals. This year's S2O Korea lineup is filled with global EDM stars, including Afrojack, KSHMR, Dimension and house hitmaker Meduza. Subtronics, a leading DJ in North America's bass scene and a dubstep powerhouse, will make his Korean debut at the festival. The lineup also includes international and domestic EDM artists such as W&W, Said The Sky, Level Up, Vicetone, Vinai, Retrovision, Alan Shirahama, Soda, AK & Daywalker and Aster & Neo, offering diverse genres from big room and bass to melodic and trap. BEPC, the organizer of S2O Korea, is also the force behind World DJ Festival, another major EDM festival in South Korea. The company recently launched World DJ Festival Japan, signaling its expansion into the global market. 'S2O is a water-themed festival uniquely tailored to the summer season, offering an entirely different kind of joy,' said Kim Eun-sung, CEO of BEPC. 'This year's S2O will be a full sensory experience where music, water and performance come together in harmony— creating a festival that transcends traditional EDM.'

Mawazine Festival 2025 Draws 3.75 Million Music Lovers

Rabat – The 20th edition of the Mawazine Festival drew 3.75 million people, who came to enjoy performances from more than 100 artists from around the world. For nine days, from June 20 to 28, the cities of Rabat and Sale came alive with music. The organizers said that the massive turnout, with packed venues every night, shows once again that Mawazine is one of the biggest music festivals in the world. The main international stage at OLM Souissi hosted global superstars like Kid Cudi, Becky G, aespa, Lil Baby, Wizkid, Afrojack, Lojay, MoBlack, and Lost Frequencies. However, Mawazine says three concerts stood out above the rest: Will Smith, 50 Cent, and ElGrande Toto. At the Nahda stage, which focuses on Arabic music, some of the biggest names in the Arab world took the limelight. Fans enjoyed shows by Nancy Ajram, Myriam Fares, Sherine, Hamaki, Ruby, Aminux, Ragheb Alama, and Boudchart. In Sale, a stage dedicated entirely to Moroccan artists featured popular singers like Abdelaziz Stati, Najat Aatabou, Daoudi, Hajib, Adil Miloudi, Samy Ray, and Mohamed Adly performed alongside younger stars like Lmorphine, Lazaro, Rafiaa, 7-Toun, Zakaria Ghafouli, and Kaoutar Berrani. Meanwhile, at the National Theatre Mohammed V, music lovers enjoyed indoor concerts with artists like Saber Robai, Tamer Achour, Wael Jassar, Carmen Suleiman, Ziad Bourji, Kadhem Saher, and even a hologram show of the legendary Abdelhalim Hafez. The Bouregreg stage was home to world music, with artists from Africa, the Caribbean, and beyond. Salif Keita, Julian Marley, Yemi Alade, Etuk Ubong, Cheikh Lô, Burning Spear, De La Soul, Al Qasar & Guests, and Ans T Crazy offered exciting shows full of rhythm and cultural richness. At the historic Chellah site, a more peaceful atmosphere took over. This stage featured soulful and spiritual music from artists like Soukaina Fahsi, Egyptian Project, Luis Salazar, Banista, The Snake Charmer, and Gulay Hacer Toruk. Despite the turnout and diverse lineup, the festival was not without controversy. Many fans, as well as journalists, voiced complaints about the festival's organization, with issues like lack of crowd control, and ventilation for indoor concerts in the sweltering heat. One of the biggest disappointments came during Sherine's concert, which many had eagerly anticipated. But instead of performing live, Sherine lip-synced to playback, which left fans frustrated and some even asking for their money back. To make matters worse, the artist came on her set around an hour late. In addition, attendees at the Mohammed V Theater raised concerns about the lack of air conditioning, especially during Kadhem Saher's concert, which was packed beyond capacity and uncomfortably hot. From the press perspective, a few news outlets complained about poor management and towards their journalists, with one even complaining about harassment. Additionally, there were stringent rules and limits around access for photojournalists, especially only allocating them ten minutes at the front for large profile concerts, which made thorough coverage challenging.
