For every perfect single such as Can't Feel My Face or Wake Me Up, there are also the tedious exercises in post-feminist manosphere romance poetry like Heartless or Timeless. While these plodding tracks did seem to have their fans, no amount of shots of The Weeknd's new Nespresso Samra Origins collaboration brew could stifle the yawns these songs generated. It felt like he was well aware of the moments when the material might need massaging to keep folks engaged and insisted on reminding everyone that the tour was in Vancouver at every imaginable opportunity. It's somewhat possible that opener Playboi Carti not being able to make the show due to apparent border issues threw something of a wrench into the works. A few more moments like that wouldn't have hurt the flow one bit, as it gave the dancers a chance to flex and for The Weeknd to get up close to fans on one of the side runways. As noted, when the dude is hitting it right, he's awesome. The post-apocalyptic backdrop of a collapsed and destroyed cityscape and visuals of the artist trying to punch through a red wall suggested that there is a reincarnation coming from the musician and Tesfaye has repeatedly hinted that he might retire The Weeknd character after this tour finishes. Hopefully, he will find inspiration to craft more of the timeless ear worms he has locked into our heads forever and to dial back the repetitive sounding meandering midtempo duds. 5 Highlights in the After Hours Til Dawn set list When The Weeknd is on, he is like a force of pop perfection that nothing can stop. In his After Hours Til Dawn show, there are some spectacular examples of his pristine tune smithing. Here are the five highlights of the show. 1. Wake Me Up: From the poorly reviewed new album Hurry Up Tomorrow, this collab with French dance crew Justice proved itself as a live number. Its slow symphonic build up to a retro electrofunk vamp really got folks dancing in the bleachers. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. 2. Take My Breath: A slamming upbeat boogie from Dawn FM that has an addictive falsetto chorus hook that would make Earth, Wind & Fire jealous. This may have been the booty-shaker of the night. 3. The Hills: One of the ballads that resonates with genuine testimonial pain that drips with genuine emotion. The crowd belted out the 'I only call you when it's half-past five' lyric like it came from personal experience. Plus, FIRE! 4. Less Than Zero: An upbeat, bouncy tune that does that sounds like it could have been written by Orchestral Manouvers in the Dark in the eighties. Pairs melancholy lyricism with pure pop hooks. 5. Blinding Lights: Well, duh. Arguably the best-known song by someone who has written his share of classics, this driving hit is an absolute banger in concert. It's a timeless toe-tapper that will likely keep sounding as fresh as it does today in another 10 years. sderdeyn@ Read More Love concerts, but can't make it to the venue? Reviews and recommendations are unbiased and products are independently selected. Postmedia may earn an affiliate commission from purchases made through links on this page. The Weeknd brings his After Hours 'til. Dawn tour to Vancouver's B.C. Place for two nights this week. UPDATE: There's been a last-minute change to the concert lineup — and we have the set times. Here's what you need to know about the concerts: The Weeknd plays B.C. play for a two-night stand July 15 and 16. The concert is expected to start at 7 p.m. Doors at B.C. Place open at 5:30 pm. LiveNation shared the planned set times for tonight's concert. According to the company, Mike Dean will perform from 7:20 p.m. to 8:10 p.m. The Weeknd is set to take the stage at 8:40 p.m. — minus any possible delays caused by any backstage sipping of his new Nespresso collaboration brew — through to 11 p.m. UPDATE: The B.C. Place website has a full list of rules and regulations regarding what you can and can't bring into The Weeknd concert. Concert goers are recommended to have their tickets downloaded on their mobile device or Ticketmaster app and ready to scan at the gate for quick entry. Bags are restricted at B.C. Place. The venue has a 'clear bag policy' that sees the size of bag restricted to the below dimensions: Bags no larger than 6.5' x 8.5' Clear plastic bag (including clear plastic freezer bags) no larger than 12' x 12' x 6' Large bags can be checked at the venue for a fee of $10 per piece. This service is offered on a first-come-first-serve basis. Check the venue website for a full list of restricted items and recommendations. Tickets are available for the Vancouver concert via A quick search on the site and app Tuesday morning yielded a short wait in a digital waiting room. Plenty of pairs of tickets showed as available, both via verified resale and direct sale, with prices ranging from around $78.40 to $249.90 (including taxes and fees). American rapper Mike Dean is the opening act for the two Vancouver shows. Playboi Carti, who collaborated with The Weeknd on the song Timeless, is no longer on the B.C. Place bill. The news was released in a statement from the After Hours Til Dawn account on X in the early morning hours on July 15. 'Playboi Carti will NOT be joining The Weeknd on the Vancouver shows of the #AfterHoursTilDawnTour. Ticketmaster changed the name of the Vancouver shows to 'The After Hours Til Dawn Tour with Mike Dean'. As of now all other Canada shows still show Carti as part of the event.' In a statement from B.C. Place, the venue confirmed the change, adding that Carti was dropped from the concerts 'due to border crossing issues.' Dean has co-written a number of popular tracks by The Weeknd, including Double Fantasy, Popular, Jealous Guy and others. His set is averaging 112 songs from across his career. Dean appeared with The Weeknd at his headlining set at Coachella in 2022. Hurry Up Tomorrow was released on Jan. 31, 2025. The album is considered the final instalment in a trilogy that began with 2020's After Hours and 2022's Dawn FM. The Weeknd, Toronto-born Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, has teased that this could be the final tour as his namesake alter ego. Hurry Up Tomorrow is the artist's sixth full-length album and was accompanied by a companion film of the same title. Directed by Trey Edward Shults, the movie starring The Weeknd, Jenny Ortega (Wednesday) and Barry Keoghan (Saltburn) was poorly reviewed, with a 15 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. (Tomatometer ratings of less than 60 per cent are considered 'rotten.') The Weeknd's set list is averaging 35 songs on the After Hours 'til. Dawn tour and features a selection of songs drawn from across his multiplatinum career. How Do I Make You Love Me? from Dawn FM is the most-performed song on the tour so far. The artist is also dropping a number of covers in the show, including Future's Low Life, Rosalía's La Fama and the Kendrick Lamar collaboration Pray for Me. To keep things on equal footing, he is also performing Drake's Crew Love. Whether he is continuing to include Ye's Hurricane and Diddy's Another One of Me will remain to be heard at the B.C. Place shows. The After Hours 'til. Dawn tour has been going since 2022. The Aug. 23, 2022, concert at B.C. Place was well-reviewed in The Vancouver Sun, noting the following: 'It's a big jump from Rogers Arena to B.C. Place and The Weeknd is one of those rare artists to make it. There isn't another Canadian act of the moment touring playing 50,000-plus seat arenas. 'The Toronto singer's mix of futuristic R&B, pure new wave and dance pop has completely captured contemporary music at the moment and last night the artist born Abel Makkonen Tesfaye showed off his Grammy-winning live chops to an adoring audience. 'Naturally, the stage set up for the After Hours 'til. Dawn Tour is a lavish one with no shortage of bells, whistles, explosions and more.' Expect more of the same from this edition of the tour. Expect The Weeknd to sell well for both of the Vancouver concerts, which means around 50,000 people attending each night. Be sure to give yourself ample time to get into the venue, find you seating and so on. Read our guide on what to know about B.C. Place. sderdeyn@ Review: The Weeknd After Hours 'til. The Weeknd at Levi's Stadium: What to know before the Santa Clara concerts
Fresh off a record-breaking seven-night run at Los Angeles County's SoFi Stadium, The Weeknd is set to bring his After Hours Til Dawn tour to Levi's Stadium this week. With more than 200,000 fans attending his Southern California shows alone, the global R&B megasta, born Abel Tesfaye, continues to solidify his place as one of the most dominant live performers of his generation. For Bay Area fans planning to catch the spectacle in Santa Clara on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 8-9, here's what you need to know. How do I get to Levi's Stadium? Levi's Stadium is about 40 miles south of San Francisco and can be reached via Highways 101, 237 and I-880 — though traffic is notoriously bad on event days. Public transportation is highly encouraged. VTA light rail and bus service provide direct connections throughout Santa Clara County. Caltrain riders can transfer to VTA at Mountain View. BART users can switch to VTA at the Milpitas station. Capitol Corridor and ACE trains are options for fans traveling from farther away. Rideshare drop-offs are available near the venue. Bike valet is also offered for cyclists. Where can I park? Who's performing? The Weeknd headlines, supported by opening acts Playboi Carti and Mike Dean. Tickets begin at $73. What's on the setlist? Expect a marathon four-hour performance spanning The Weeknd's career — from breakout hits like 'House of Balloons' and 'The Hills' to newer tracks off his chart-topping 2025 album 'Hurry Up Tomorrow,' including 'São Paulo,' 'Baptized in Fear' and 'Open Hearts.' There may even be a couple of collaborations with Playboi Carti and a nod to Metro Boomin's 'Creepin'.' Can I eat nearby? Dining options near Levi's Stadium are somewhat limited, but the nearby Mercado Shopping Center offers several convenient choices for a quick bite, including In-N-Out Burger, Panda Express, Subway, Pho Hoa and Tomatina. For those seeking a sit-down meal before the show, popular nearby restaurants include Pedro's Restaurant & Cantina at 3935 Freedom Circle, El Torito at 2950 Lakeside Drive, and Birk's Restaurant at 3955 Freedom Circle. Two additional upscale options — Puesto and Il Fornaio — are both located at 2752 Augustine Drive. Inside the stadium, fans will find around two dozen cashless concession stands serving local favorites such as Super Duper Burgers, Slice House Pizza and Starbird. For those carrying cash, reverse ATMs are available to convert it to a prepaid card. What's the bag policy? Only clear bags no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches are permitted. Small clutch bags, no larger than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches, are allowed. There are no lockers, so pack light. What items are prohibited? Skip the signs, banners, glow sticks, selfie sticks and light-up outfits. Power banks and phone charging cases are allowed. Can I tailgate? No. Tailgating and loitering without a ticket are not allowed in stadium lots. What's the weather forecast? Expect mostly clear skies, with highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s. Pack sunscreen for the daytime and a light jacket for the cooler nights, which are expected to dip in the mid-50s. With a sprawling 68,500-seat capacity — and the ability to expand to 75,000 — Levi's Stadium is bracing for a weekend of spectacle, sound and stardom. Just don't be surprised if the lines at In-N-Out stretch longer than the setlist.
