Pedro Pascal: ‘I Was So Appalled by the Way I Look' in ‘Wonder Woman 1984' That ‘I've Never Gone Back' to Being Clean Shaven for an Acting Role

Pedro Pascal faced off against his 'Fantastic Four' co-star Vanessa Kirby during LADbible's 'Agree to Disagree' video series, in which they were asked to debate which is sexier: Mustaches or beards? Pascal has long rocked facial hair throughout his career, but there was one role that required him to go clean shaven. That would be the villainous Maxwell Lord in 'Wonder Woman 1984,' Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot's superhero sequel that released in theaters and HBO Max simultaneously on Christmas Day 2020. 'I grow such shit facial hair, but if I were to shave it all off… I really look very [awful]. Strongly disagree with a clean shaven me,' Pascal said. 'I was so appalled by the way I look in 'Wonder Woman 1984.' I loved the movie, but I was so appalled by the way that I looked that I never have gone back. Unless it were completely necessary. If they asked me to be clean shave for 'Fantastic Four' and insisted then I would've done it. But it was a very collaborative creation for all of our looks in the movie.' Pascal, who is no stranger to franchise fare thanks to 'The Last of Us' and 'The Mandalorian,' previously told Vanity Fair that it was hard to avoid fan complaints when he was cast and he constantly heard: 'He's too old. He's not right. He needs to shave.' 'I'm more aware of disgruntlement around my casting than anything I've ever done,' Pascal said. As for Maxwell Lord, the 'Wonder Woman 1984' role was a one and done stop for Pascal in the previous DC Universe. He's now playing a major role in the MCU and is already confirmed to be returning as Reed in next year's tentpole 'Avengers: Doomsday.' Marvel's 'Fantastic Four' opens in theaters July 25. Pedro Pascal reveals he was ‘appalled' by his looks in blockbuster film

Don't miss out on the headlines from Movies. Followed categories will be added to My News. Pedro Pascal has revealed he was 'appalled' by the way he looked in one of his blockbuster movies. The Hollywood heart-throb, 50, made the confession during LADbible's Agree to Disagree video series, saying he 'strongly disagreed' with his clean-shaven appearance in 2020's Wonder Woman 1984. In the Gal Gadot-led film, Pascal cut a very different figure to his usual shaggy aesthetic, rocking a beard-free face and a blonde wig to portray Maxwell Lord. Pedro Pascal is promoting The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Picture:for Disney Pascal revealed he was 'appalled' by his appearance as Maxwell Lord in ' Wonder Woman 1984'. 'I grow such shit facial hair, but if I were to shave it all off … I really look very [awful]. Strongly disagree with a clean shaven me,' Pascal said amid promotion for Marvel's upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps. 'I was so appalled by the way I look in Wonder Woman 1984. I loved the movie, but I was so appalled by the way that I looked that I never have gone back unless it were completely necessary. 'If they asked me to be clean shave for Fantastic Four and insisted, then I would've done it. But it was a very collaborative creation for all of our looks in the movie.' X SUBSCRIBER ONLY Pascal was, indeed, able to keep his signature moustache to fill the shoes of comic book hero Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic in the latest MCU offering, despite the character being clean-shaven in the comics. The Last Of Us star told Vanity Fair in June he was acutely aware of fan complaints when he was cast in the highly-anticipated role. 'I'm more aware of disgruntlement around my casting than anything I've ever done. 'He's too old. He's not right. He needs to shave',' Pascal said. X SUBSCRIBER ONLY Early reviews, however, have been in his favour, with promising critical reception to his performance and the film in general. The Fantastic Four: First Steps officially hits cinemas in Australia July 24. Meanwhile, Pascal is already set to reprise the role in next year's Avengers: Doomsday, which will see the return of Marvel legend Robert Downey Jr. as a new character, Doctor Doom, after Tony Stark/Iron Man died in 2019's Endgame. Pascal and Downey Jr. are joined by a star-studded cast for the film, which is currently in production, including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier and Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man. Pedro Pascal was 'so appalled' by clean shaven style in Wonder Woman 1984

Pedro Pascal was "so appalled" by how he looks clean shaven. The 50-year-old star's facial hair has become a recognisable part of his style, but he still regrets shaving it all off for the role of Maxwell Lord in 2020's Wonder Woman 1984. During a game of Agree to Disagree with LADbible, he and his Fantastic Four co-star Vanessa Kirby were asked which was sexier, mustaches or beards. He said: "I grow such s*** facial hair, but if I were to shave it all off… I really look very [awful]. Strongly disagree with a clean shaven me. 'I was so appalled by the way I look in Wonder Woman 1984. I loved the movie, but I was so appalled by the way that I looked that I never have gone back unless it were completely necessary. "If they asked me to be clean shave for Fantastic Four and insisted then I would've done it. But it was a very collaborative creation for all of our looks in the movie.' Pedro has been able to keep his trademark moustache for the film, which sparked some backlash from comic book fans who were used to Reed Richards' cleanshaven look. He recently told Vanity Fair: 'I'm more aware of disgruntlement around my casting than anything I've ever done. "'He's too old. He's not right. He needs to shave.'" In a previous chat with the same magazine back in 2022, he laughed off his widespread internet nickname of Daddy or Zaddy, in a reference to his good looks as an older man. He quipped: 'Daddy is a state of mind,' he said. 'I'm your daddy.' However, hie The Last of Us co-star Bella Ramsey has recalled being quick to play it down. She said: 'I felt worried for him. I want to protect him from that whole joke of becoming the internet's daddy. "I was like, 'I don't want everyone to refer to you as that and see you as that. You're so much more.' '

Love Island's Gabby Allen reveals the 'real' way Casey O'Gorman asked her to be his girlfriend - as they insist their co-stars' 'elaborate' proposals weren't their style

Love Island All Stars ' Gabby Allen has revealed the 'real' way Casey O'Gorman asked her to be his girlfriend. The pair won the ITV show earlier this year and have grown from strength to strength as they have spent the last few months traveling the world and attending glitzy events. And now the blonde gym influencer, 33, and her boyfriend, 28, have made things official - but kept it low key unlike many of the elaborate girlfriend proposals from some of their other co-stars like Luca Bish. Gabby said on the Agree to Disagree podcast this week: 'He actually asked me weeks and weeks ago, we'd been out the villa about a month and I just thought I'm not even going to tell anyone. 'It's almost funnier that people are still giving me s**t about it! He literally asked me on a dog walk and a nice country pub and it was so nice there were no frills attached and it was perfect for what we wanted. 'I get why people want the elaborate stuff but this really from Case just really made it feel like it was real.' Casey appeared on his own podcast this week on Sophie Habboo and Melissa Tattam where he spoke about the pressures of asking her. Alluding to Ronnie Vint and Luca's proposals he said: 'It was all Ronnie this and that and Luca's done this I just thought f**k all of them - I'll do it my way. 'We didn't feel the need to make a post about it, that's no dig to anyone else that has done it we just didn't want it.' It comes after the pair shared a cheeky smooch as she celebrated him completing the London marathon on Sunday. Gabby showed up in support of her recently confirmed boyfriend as she waited at the side lines to motivate him with a kiss. Casey looked delighted to spot his girlfriend in the crowds as he ran over over to the barriers and embraced her in a public display of affection. The All Stars winner completed the 42.2km in an impressive three hours 41 minutes as he managed to average a pace of 5.15km/h for the race. Gabby shared their sweet moment to her Instagram stories and confessed she was 'so proud' him. Gabby said: 'He literally asked me on a dog walk and a nice country pub and it was so nice there were no frills attached and it was perfect for what we wanted' Her post comes after she recently clarified her relationship status on her Instagram stories after speculation about her jetting off alone to Dubai. She quipped in a holiday clip: 'Side note: Yes believe it or not, a girl can go on holiday with her family without it meaning her and her fella have ended... he's flying out on Sunday to see me.' The couple bagged the whopping £50,000 prize after they won the Love Island spin-off. Casey finally got his happy ending with blonde bombshell Gabby after appearing on the show three times previously. The couple had flown under the radar in the lead up to the finale, with bookmakers never placing them as favourites to clinch the prize. Nonetheless, they managed to storm to victory during the live final - pipping longtime frontrunners Luca and Grace to the post while Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Curtis Pritchard finished in third. Some even questioned if the result was rigged, with Gabby and Casey having been devoid of public sentiment online - SlotsCalendar's data revealed that only six percent of tweets about the couple since they paired up had been positive. While social media users were baffled at the result, it has resulted in bookmakers paying out thousands, because of a third of the stakes were placed on the underdogs. William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps told MailOnline: 'Gabby and Casey's Love Island All Stars victory last night may have appeared a shock on paper, but the result ended up being a big loser for us.' He continued: 'The couple accounted for over a third (35 percent) of stakes throughout the series. 'While the pair started out as an unlikely 10/1 towards the end of January, our punters appeared to have their heads turned in early February and their price dropped to as low as 4/7 at one point – the shortest odds offered at any stage of the series. 'Gabby and Casey entered last night's finale as 6/4 second favourites but proved to be the real bombshells of the series, stealing the crown from Luca and Grace (1/2).' For weeks, season eight's Luca, 25, and season 11 star Grace, 26, had been the bookies' frontrunners to win the show - garnering a strong online fanbase.
