The session was chaired by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. The meeting, held at Emirates Towers, was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai. The newly approved initiatives span multiple sectors including higher education, air quality, governance, and legal services. These efforts aim to position Dubai as a global hub for academia, business, and sustainable development. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan stated that youth are central to shaping the future and highlighted Dubai's commitment to equipping them with world-class academic and research opportunities. He emphasized Dubai's ambition to become one of the top 10 global cities for students. The Executive Council revealed that Dubai is currently home to 37 international university branches and aims to increase this number to over 70 by 2033. The higher education sector is projected to contribute AED5.6 billion to Dubai's GDP. Key initiatives announced: The Academic and Career Guidance Policy will provide career support services, strengthen education-to-employment transitions, and boost employment rates among Emirati graduates. The Air Quality Strategy 2030 sets goals to meet clean air standards on 90% of days and reduce PM2.5 to 35 micrograms per cubic metre. The Dubai International Mediation Centre was approved to provide cost-effective dispute resolution services and enhance legal infrastructure. A new Governance Policy for Government Construction Projects was introduced to streamline approval processes and improve transparency in public sector infrastructure. The Air Quality Strategy will be led by the Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority in collaboration with entities including Dubai Municipality, DEWA, RTA, and others. The mediation centre, co-developed with the ADR Centre in Europe, will support Dubai's international competitiveness in legal and business services. The construction governance policy will classify projects based on cost and is expected to support the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to raise government spending from AED512 billion to AED700 billion in the next decade. The initiative was part of its Media Leadership Programme. The programme brought together 25 participants from various Dubai government entities. These participants are part of the inaugural cohort of the Media Leadership Programme. It was launched by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council. The UK visit aimed to deepen participants' global perspectives. It focused on trust, artificial intelligence, and strategic storytelling in media. According to the Dubai Media Council, the programme is designed to enhance media leadership skills aligned with international benchmarks. Throughout the five-day tour, participants attended interactive sessions and visited top media and policy institutions. They engaged with leading organisations, including: Financial Times and Sky News, where executives shared insights on digital media operations Google, where discussions covered the future of information The Thomson Foundation led a session on media transformation and global development. Meanwhile, the GREAT Britain & Northern Ireland Campaign delivered a keynote on nation branding. The group also visited Apolitical, a global public service learning platform. Here, discussions centered on digital trust and the evolving relationship between data, institutions, and credibility. Former senior UK government communication leaders shared expertise on strategic messaging at national and international levels. Nehal Badri, Secretary-General of the Dubai Media Council, revealed that the programme plays a vital role in raising Dubai's media profile. She stated that it helps build future-ready narratives to support the emirate's development. Badri also noted that the UK engagement fostered collaboration with global players who align with Dubai's media vision. Hesham Al Olama, Director of Strategy and Performance Management at the Dubai Media Council, reported that the tour offered participants unique insights into institutional adaptability and professional media standards. He added that the programme equips leaders to navigate global changes with clarity and confidence. Launched in January, the Media Leadership Programme is a flagship initiative. It aims to cultivate leadership talent across Dubai government media entities. Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson of the Dubai Media Council, said the Forum marks a strategic expansion of the Arab Media Summit's agenda, spotlighting sectors that are reshaping the global media landscape. 'It's about creating space for dialogue on innovation, women-led content, AI in storytelling, and emerging business models,' she noted. The Forum will feature major names like Amazon, Netflix, Square Enix, and Olsberg SPI, alongside sessions on gaming careers, women in cinema, drama in the digital age, and the future of Emirati filmmaking. Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan and Arab talents including Ahmed El Sakka and Laila Abdallah are also set to appear.
