Jenkins has been a brilliant addition for Northop Hall
Fresh from their triumph against Division Two leaders Ainsdale, Hall are looking forward to their trip to St Helens Town. Jenkins, who returned to the club ahead of the current campaign, took five wickets in the success against Ainsdale and he now has 57 for the season, at an average of just 11 apiece. It was Jenkins and James Hurlin who shared all the wickets last time out and skipper Ben Slater said: 'They bowled really well together. It was a great partnership between them both. They got the 10 wickets between them. 'Carwyn (Johnson) and Fin Jenkins put on a 60-odd partnership. It just shows the depth in the squad. 'They could have batted on for a lot longer. It's one of those, you've got to take a positive approach and they ran well.' Northop Hall Seconds will have home comforts for their meeting with New Brighton Seconds. There's a return to action for Chirk after they sat out last weekend's matches in the Shropshire League. A win will be the aim for Chirk, who pay a Division One visit to Newport. Liam Walker's side could do with a positive outcome, having lost their last four contests. In Division Seven, Chirk Seconds are at home to Harcourt.

Northop Hall must be wary of seam in another big clash
Hall are within sight of the top-two in Division Two of the Liverpool Competition and victory at home to Norley Hall tomorrow will keep them well in the mix to go up. Skipper Ben Slater is anticipating another tough test and he said: 'They're a good opposition. 'They have probably got the best seam attack in the league. As always, it's take every game as it comes.' It turned out to be a dramatic weekend last time out, with Ainsdale and Caldy - the leading two sides in the division - playing out a draw. This meant Northop Hall's 104-run thrashing of Parkfield Liscard moved them to within just 15 points of those promotion positions. Reflecting firstly on the lofty draw, Slater said: 'They were both obviously ahead of us. It means that gap is now down to 15-20 points. We play one of them in two weeks' time.' Meanwhile, Slater's decision to declare on 197 for nine appears a brave one - but there was a reason for this. 'Obviously, it was a good performance at the weekend,' he added. 'It's one of those. If you go past 55 overs, you lose your bonus points. We had four.' Northop Hall Seconds are away to Bootle Seconds tomorrow. Things remain tough for Chirk in the Shropshire League. Liam Walker's side have suffered three Division One defeats on the bounce and they will be aiming for a more positive outcome from tomorrow's trip to Wellington Seconds. In Division Seven, Chirk Seconds have home advantage against Albrighton Seconds. Chester Boughton Hall will be putting on their Sunday best when Filkins Lane hosts the National County Cricket Association's T20 final this weekend. Shropshire will face Dorset in Sunday's 50-over contest and Cheshire are pleased to play host to what promises to be a thrilling final. The game gets underway at 11am with 50 overs per side and tickets cost £14.

Speed camera signs appear on busy bypass with no speed cameras in place
Speed camera signs have been placed on a stretch of the Formby Bypass where the speed limit has temporarily been halved, although there are no plans to have temporary speed cameras installed. Sefton Council condemned drivers who continue to ignore the speed limit that has been introduced until the end of August, but also confirmed they will not be installing cameras for the duration of the works. The speed limit has been reduced while workers begin to start building houses on a plot of land next to the busy stretch of road, with the closure of the footway and cycle lanes resulting in people having to cross the carriageway. This has led to the speed limit being halved and drivers being warned they will be passing a speed camera, although the council has said it the limit is being monitored using mobile speed camera provision rather than a stationary camera. Speed camera signs with a white background are often used in places where mobile speed cameras are used or where there have been accidents. The signs have appeared in both directions between Formby and Ainsdale, with motorists urged to adhere to the temporary speed limit. A spokesperson for Sefton Council said: 'It is disappointing to see motorists claiming they will ignore speed limits which have been put in place to keep people safe on the Formby Bypass. 'Works are underway on the northbound carriageway which has led to the temporary closure of the footway and cycle lane. This means pedestrians and cyclists need to cross both carriageways to use the southbound footway. 'As a result a temporary 30mph limit has been put in place to both to the north and southbound carriageway to keep pedestrians and cyclists safe while crossing. "This limit is being monitored by mobile speed camera provision and we urge motorists to keep to these temporary limits in order to keep others safe.' In the Shropshire League, Chirk opened their Division One tilt with a five-wicket home defeat at the hands of Wellington Seconds. Northop Hall and Chirk to get cricket campaigns underway
It's the start of the Liverpool Competition for Hall tomorrow with their home clash versus Ainsdale. It has been a busy off-season at the Smithy Lane club, with a number of big acquisitions making the move to strengthen the ranks. Reflecting on the preparations, captain Ben Slater said: 'We have recruited a lot of players again. 'Jac Kennedy is back from Northern. He's decided to come back to Northop Hall. 'We have got Paul Jenkins (pictured) from Colwyn Bay. He has over 1,200 wickets and it's a great addition.' The capture of the pair is a real coup as Northop Hall look to hit the ground running. Kennedy has spent the past three seasons at Northern, where he plundered 2,800 runs at the top of the order. Previous captain Carwyn Johnson and Owen Skillander, from Hawarden Park, are other additions to the squad. 'We will take each game as it comes. We'll enjoy it as much as possible,' stressed Slater. 'We will see how it goes.' Hall won't be taking tomorrow's opponents lightly and Slater added: 'Ainsdale have always been a strong side and they still are. 'We will play the game as it comes to us. We are hoping to get off to a winning start in the league.' Northop Hall Seconds pay a visit to Ainsdale Seconds tomorrow. Liam Walker is the new skipper at the helm as Chirk open their Shropshire League campaign tomorrow. Walker, who has taken over the captaincy from Luke Gardner, will lead the team out for the Division One encounter at home to Wellington Seconds. Last time out, Chirk claimed eight victories as they finished up eighth in Division One and sights will be set higher for the coming months. In Division Seven, Chirk Seconds, still under the captaincy of Dale Randall, will begin their season away to Albrighton Seconds. It's a busy weekend for Chester Boughton Hall. In the Cheshire County League tomorrow, Hall visit Neston, while Jack Williams' side have a cup clash against Eccleshall on Sunday.
