Mavs' Kyrie Irving hints ‘absolutely' to Kobe-inspired sneaker
The post Mavs' Kyrie Irving hints 'absolutely' to Kobe-inspired sneaker appeared first on ClutchPoints. After scoring the number one overall pick in the NBA Draft and taking future franchise cornerstone Cooper Flagg, the Dallas Mavericks are confident about their chances to compete for a title in the next ten years. However, with All-Star Kyrie Irving expected to make a return at the start of 2026, the Mavericks have a chance to win now with a stacked lineup. Advertisement Check our Sneakers news for more upcoming releases and breaking content! Recently, Irving hopped on YouTube stream to answer questions from his viewers as he does from time to time. Irving touched on what makes a great shooting guard, some of his favorite books at the moment, and answered questions regarding his signature sneaker and lifestyle lines with sponsor ANTA. © Gary A. Vasquez-Imagn Images Eventually, a viewer asked Irving if he will ever drop a Kobe Bryant-inspired shoe, to which Irving responded: 'Absolutely I'm going to drop a Kobe-inspired shoe. I obviously have to work within the lines I'm given – shoutout to Vanessa [Bryant] and the girls, I do my best to make sure I show them love, show them support.' Advertisement Irving went on, 'We all miss Kobe. You've seen a lot of art pieces from peers of mine, including myself, paying homage towards him. We miss him dearly, any time I can create something that's Kobe-inspired I'll let you guys know that.' Irving has always been active in keeping Kobe Bryant's memory alive with his sneakers, rocking a number of Mamba-inspired colorways until his split from Nike in late-2022. While we have yet to see a Kobe-inspired colorway from his new sponsors over at ANTA, it's clear as to why designers may have to jump through some hoops to keep everyone at Nike happy as well. Still, knowing Kyrie Irving's creative nature, we're sure he'll come up with an imaginative way to honor Kobe Bryant with an ANTA twist. Irving will continue serving as the brand's Chief Creative Officer while he gears up for a hopeful return to the Mavericks in 2026. Magic Johnson makes '30, 40 years' declaration on new Lakers owner Mark Walter
The post Magic Johnson makes '30, 40 years' declaration on new Lakers owner Mark Walter appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Los Angeles Lakers recently shook things up when they were sold to Mark Walter, who is also the owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The move ends the longtime ownership of the Lakers by the Buss family, although Jeanie Buss will still have considerable influence within the organization. Advertisement Recently, Lakers legend and fellow sports team owner Magic Johnson spoke on his long-term vision for Los Angeles under the new ownership group. 'One thing that Jeanie [Buss] was going to do is put [the franchise] in the right hands. If she was going to sell, it had to be the right person, and Mark Walter is the right person to take over and lead us for the next 30, 40 years,' said Johnson, via Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times (per HoopsHype). 'So, this is the best news that could have happened for all Laker fans across the world. Mark has had his eye on the Lakers for a long time. That's why he bought [Philip] Anschutz's [minority ownership] piece first and then he was sitting there, and Jeanie knew this.' Johnson also spoke on how Buss will still be onboard with the Lakers in some capacity. 'You saw Mark let Jeanie stay on the Board of Governors. That was smart. One thing that is smart about Jeanie is she was never going to say, 'Oh, the Lakers are up for sale! Anybody can own them.' That's not who she is. She wasn't going to put it in anybody's hands,' said Johnson. A big move for the Lakers Matt Blewett-Imagn Images Unlike the MLB, the NBA has a salary cap in place, meaning Walter won't be able to essentially buy championships the way he has with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Advertisement Still, having an ownership group willing to spend certainly has its benefits in the NBA, and the Lakers can now add that to the long list of other advantages that they enjoy over the rest of the NBA landscape. The Lakers will now turn their attention to the NBA Draft, where they have the 45th overall pick on Thursday evening thanks to a recent trade with the Chicago Bulls. Since, the 'Black Cat' colorway has made its way to silhouettes like the Air Jordan 3, but fans have been waiting for another all-black Jordan 4 since their last release back in 2020.
