Nike and Levi's is a match made in denim sportswear heaven
In the fictional town Levi's and Nike created to promote their latest collaboration of denim outerwear and Air Max 95s, the paperboy still delivers the morning newspaper by bike (with an arm like a cannon, by the way), and the neighbor out walking her dog just so happens to be the WNBA's Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers. Welcome to Blue Arc County. For their latest joint collection, out in July, the brands are releasing a special edition of the Nike Air Max 95 made from Levi's denim in a neutral matte white; black; indigo denim; and full-on Canadian tuxedo made from the Levi's x Nike Trucker Jacket and matching Baggy Jean. Like its jeans, Levi's sneakers with Nike feature a single Levi's Red Tab under the Nike Swoosh on the right shoe only. The jacket sports a big Nike wordmark and Swoosh logo lockup in white on the back, plus co-branded brown leather patches. The world Levi's and Nike created for the collection is charming but hard to place. In promotional photos and social media shots featuring Bueckers, hip-hop artist Larry June, NFL player Keon Coleman, and designer Daniel Buezo, it's a mix of rural country, Midwest suburb, and deep South. The local barbecue joint is staged like the sort of roadside, hole-in-the-wall treasure that draws in diners far and wide, and the Blue Arc County logo shows an evergreen tree line that evokes Nike's Oregon roots. It's Anywhere, U.S.A., built for promoting two iconic American brands at a time when heartland aesthetic is ascendent. This isn't Nike's first foray into 'jeakers' with Levi's. They teamed up for apparel like a Nike SB x Levi's 511 Skateboarding Collection in 2012 and Nike Air Force 1s by Levi's in 2019. But their 2025 collab uses lighter-wash denim for the jacket and jeans and a lower-profile shoe that feels less like a novelty than some past attempts. It's a simple capsule, but they got the details right. The announcement was timed just before Nike reported its quarterly earnings June 26. The company said earlier this year it expects a sales decline, and its planned NikeSkims launch has been postponed, but a highly anticipated collab with the denim brand is good news. Levi's parent company, Levi Strauss, beat expectations earlier this year, and CEO Michelle Gass said on the company's April earnings call that new products were 'resonating and driving market share gains.' She also referenced a 'robust product pipeline' that she said will fuel growth in the company's denim and nondenim business well into 2026.

The brands have previously cooked up some of the best sneaker collaborations in memory, and now they're back with a line-up that merges the rich denim heritage of Levi's® with Nike's legendary Air Max 95 silhouette. It's the 30th anniversary of the Air Max 95, and the releases aren't slowing down. We've already seen the Big Bubble Bright Mandarin returns alongside the Big Bubble Bright Neon. However, outside of a handful of collaborative pieces with brands like Cortiez and Stash, the silhouette hasn't been given an all-over makeover. Now, that's set to change as Levi's treats the shoe to premium Levi's® denim materials and unique design elements that honour both brands' DNA. OG 'Big Bubble' Air Max units, stealthy and smooth colourways, the Levi's® x Nike Air Max 95 will release in three colourways on July 10th 2025, on the Levi's® App, in select Levi's® flagship stores, and on July 11th on SNKRS. Look out for campaign images below that feature hip-hop artist Larry June, WNBA player Paige Bueckers, NFL player Keon Coleman, and designer Daniel Buezo. Forget 'double denim,' we're rocking triple denim for the rest of the year. Yee-haw! Levi's® x Nike Air Max 95 Black | Image: Supplied / Levi's The Levi's® x Nike Air Max 95 will arrive in three colour-ways: Levi's® x Nike Air Max 95 Denim Levi's® x Nike Air Max 95 Black Levi's® x Nike Air Max 95 White/Ecru Sneakerheads will be happy to hear that the Levi's® x Nike Air Max 95 carries the torch of recent releases, utilising the OG 'Big Bubble' Air Max units that give a nod to the original Nike Air Max 95. Meanwhile, the upper is slightly slimmed down for a more wearable design, which is again, closer to the OG in style. Detail-wise, the Levi's® iconic Red Tab appears under the Nike swoosh on the right shoe only, while the shank displays Levi's® red branding. The sock liner showcases a Levi's® dollar bill print on a red substrate. All three colourways are presented in custom packaging – classic Nike Air Max 95 boxes redesigned in Levi's® red with added batwing details. The latter features selvedge denim and matching mid-to-light wear patterns alongside the signature off-white chain-stitching details. Our favourite element, however, is the co-branded brown leather patches with Nike swoosh logos that replace traditional Levi's® elements. You'll find a similar highlight on the Levi's® x Nike Trucker Jacket, which features the staple Type II structure with selvedge running through the interior placket and a prominent chainstitch Nike logo on the back. 'In collaboration with Nike, we set out to craft an immersive experience that celebrates both brands' shared legacy and forward-thinking spirit,' said Leo Gamboa, VP of Collaborations at Levi's. 'The opportunity to reimagine the iconic Nike Air Max 95 in honour of its 30th anniversary was a true milestone.' 'By integrating our signature denim into one of Nike's most iconic silhouettes, we've created a seamless fusion of sport and lifestyle—honouring the past while pushing the boundaries of design.' Look for the full collection to release on July 10th 2025 on the Levi's® App, in select Levi's® flagship stores, and on July 11th on SNKRS. Nike's Settlement With Shoe Surgeon Defines Boundaries on Sneaker Customization
Nike Inc.'s proposed settlement with Shoe Surgeon has set some boundaries on sneaker customization. The settlement agreement is confidential, including the amount that Shoe Surgeon has agreed to pay Nike. More from WWD Nike's Brand New Sneaker Loafer Gets a Wild, Colorful Update All Eyes Are on Nike Ahead of Q4 Earnings Nike and A Ma Maniére Unveil 'Every Summer Tells a Story' Campaign Featuring Air Force 1 and Air Max 95 Sneakers for 'Act I: The Block' Court documents do include a proposed consent judgment and permanent injunction that needs to be signed off by the Manhattan federal district judge presiding over the case. The document includes Shoe Surgeon's acknowledgment that Nike is the exclusive owner of certain registered trademarks, trademark applications and related common law rights. It also requires the acknowledgment by Shoe Surgeon that the defendant's accused 'customization' includes using materials that Nike did not manufacture or authorize, as well as the agreement that the accused 'customization' was also not authorized by Nike. The permanent injunction bars Shoe Surgeon from any future conduct that could cause confusion with Nike's products and trademarks, including offering 'deconstruction'/'reconstruction' classes or workshops using Nike's trademarks. What is allowed is Shoe Surgeon's ability to provide limited 'one of one' services detailed in the parties' confidential settlement agreement. Those details weren't disclosed in the proposed consent judgment, but it did note that any 'one of one' service must include a 'clear, conspicuous written disclosure' that Shoe Surgeon's services are not in any way authorized by Nike, that the proposed changes may impact the performance of genuine Nike shoes, and that the services are for 'personal and non-commercial purposes.' Shoe Surgeon is also required to remove within 30 days all infringing or counterfeit products from its website. Nike filed its lawsuit against Shoe Surgeon in July 2024, claiming that the shoe customizer was trying to build a 'multifaceted retail empire' using Nike's trademark rights by creating and selling counterfeit Nike shoes, among other claims. The Los Angeles-based Shoe Surgeon in November denied those claims. The company is known for taking a footwear brand's known silhouette and then blending in other materials and identifying marks from other brands. And while Shoe Surgeon in its response said it has never made a Nike shoe from scratch, it did state that it works with an authentic Nike shoe bought from Nike and then customizes them. Last June, Shoe Surgeon was also on the receiving end of a lawsuit filed by French luxury leather goods brand Goyard in a Los Angeles federal district court. That case also involves allegations of trademark infringement. Nike is known for taking a hard stand against trademark infringers. In 2021, it filed a trademark infringement case against MSCHF, the company that created and sold a number of 'Satan Shoes' in collaboration with Lil Nas X. That case was settled later that year. Nike this month raised prices on select products by $2 to $10 on average, but also noted that the Jordan brand and Nike kids apparel and footwear won't see any increases. Higher priced footwear shoes will see price increased between $5 and $10. The athletic apparel and shoe brand is slated to post fourth quarter earnings on Thursday. Many analysts believe that the turnaround strategy at the brand could take a few more quarters to see fruition, mostly due to near-term challenges — including clearing up inventory imbalances — that include the impact from tariff increases. Teenagers camp out overnight and brave '15 hour' queues in the pouring rain to get their hands on brand new Nike trainers
Teenagers desperate to get the newly released Nike trainers were braving 15 hour queues and camping overnight in the pouring rain. Hundreds lined the streets of Liverpool to get their hands on Air Max 95s, also commonly known as 110s. A winding queue leading up to the Liverpool One shopping centre saw several tents and camping equipment as eager shoppers readied themselves this morning when the doors opened at 8am for the new Nike Mandarin trainers. The boys travelled from far and wide for the chance to snag a pair—some as far as three hours away from Cumbria. Tom Clarehugh came from Ainsdale and made it to the front of the ever-growing queue. He started camping out on the night before on Thursday from 4.30pm. The Nike fan said he has about six pairs of 110s but is looking for a 'fresh new pair' after he wore them all out at festivals, he told the Liverpool Echo. While others reported they had 'not slept' while camping out for Nike's latest shoes. The store sold out of the £175 special edition shoes, which were only stocking 118 pairs and shoppers were only allowed to buy one each. Only a handful of people were allowed in the shop at the same time in order to manage the crowds and limited stock. Staff opened the shop an hour early for shoppers to salvage what they could and shortly after they emerged with bags of the sought-after trainers. The in demand trainers have already gone on sale for hundreds more - with some flogging them for up to £800 - almost four times the original price. The new Nike Mandarin trainers were created to celebrate '30 years of the iconic silhouette,' based on the 1987 edition, which saw the birth of the Air Max lineage. Young Liverpudlians famously love Nike's 95s comes from the city's football culture which is often drawn from when it comes to shoe style. Alongside the release today, Nike also surprised fans with the 'Reverse Neon' edition - flipping the classic OG colourway. The limited edition trainers were also sold in shops across London, Manchester and Glasgow.
