Sourav Ganguly In Favour Of IND vs PAK Match In Asia Cup: 'Sport Must Go On...'
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly said while sports should continue, there can be no compromise or tolerance when it comes to terrorism.
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has backed the Asia Cup 2025, set to be held in the UAE in September. On Saturday, Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that the tournament will take place at a neutral venue, with India and Pakistan placed in the same group. The ACC even rolled out the fixtures according to which the arch-rivals will lock horns on September 13.
The announcement soon sparked outrage on social media, with many in India criticising the decision to play against Pakistan in light of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed over 20 civilian lives.
'I am okay [with the Aisa Cup]. The sport must go on. At the same time, Pahalgam should not have happened, but the sport must go on. Terrorism must not happen; it needs to be stopped. India took a strong stance towards terrorism. But the sport needs to be played," the former Indian captain said.
