Govt wants its men in top varsity posts: Ajsu-P

Ranchi: Ajsu-P chief Sudesh Mahto on Tuesday blamed the state govt for bringing the Jharkhand State University Bill 2025 with the intention to fill up important posts of universities with its persons rather than for promoting higher education. The bill, which has been approved by the cabinet, provides for appointment of vice-chancellors (VC), pro-VC and the financial advisor of universities by the state govt. While addressing the media persons at his party's headquarters on Tuesday, Mahto said, "The step is not a reform. It is aimed at ending the existing system in which governor has the powers to make the appointments. It seems that the state govt intends to place persons of its choice in these posts." He also accused the the govt of not fully implementing the National Education Policy in the state. Rural development minister Deepika Pandey Singh said that the new bill is to streamline the process of higher education and its management in a more transparent manner. "The bill will come up in the upcoming monsoon session of the state assembly where it will be opened up for debate," she said. TNN

Triple test for OBC lacks transparency: Ajsu-P

Ranchi: Ajsu-P leaders on Sunday alleged widespread irregularities in holding triple tests to determine reservation for other backward castes (OBC) in urban local bodies elections in the state. Ajsu-P leader Praveen Prabhakar said that they were receiving complaints from different parts of the state that door-to-door survey was not carried out. "The state govt should provide information regarding the entire process, including the agency engaged, its expertise and modus operandi before publishing the triple test report," he added. According to the Supreme Court (SC) order, the triple test survey is needed for OBC reservation in local body elections. Their population, social and economic conditions and political representation are assessed in the exercise, he added. The post of the OBC commission was vacant for a year. Janki Yadav was appointed to the post earlier this month. Chairman's post of chief election commission, which conducts the polls, is also vacant, he added. Another Ajsu-P leader Sanjay Mehta said the Jharkhand high court had asked the state govt to start the election process within three weeks about one and a half years ago. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Global Indices Are on the Move — Time to Trade! They are raising allegations because their supported candidates would lose in urban local bodies poll.

Ajsu-P to launch statewide drive from Aug 9 seeking jobs for locals

Ranchi: Alleging that the state govt has failed to fulfil its promises related to employment, Ajsu-P on Monday said it would start a 'Sarkar Naukri Do' campaign across the state from August 9. Addressing the media with party chief spokesperson Deosharan Bhagat, Sanjay Mehta said that in the first phase of the agitation, his party would submit memorandums to managing directors and the chief executive officers of private companies seeking information regarding the number of local people they employ. "The outsourcing companies would be asked whether they are following the state govt's 75% reservation policy for the locals or not. There is no compliance with reservation in outsourcing of jobs at present," he said. The party would also submit memorandums to recruitment commissions for the timely completion of competitive examinations. The recruitment processes started by the state govt are getting involved in controversies though it promised that the process would be transparent and timely. There are over 2 lakh vacancies in the govt, he further said. Bhagat said resolutions for celebrating the Hul Diwas, to commemorate the fight of Sidu Kahto against the British in Santhal Paragana on June 30, were passed. The party would observe the martyrdom of its founder member, late Nirmal Mahto, on August 8 and Adivasi Diwas and the August Kranti Diwas on August 9. JMM's central general secretary Vinod Kumar Pandey said, "Ajsu-P is losing its relevance as it continues to mislead public. They must answer people that it was during their tenure as a BJP ally, that OBC reservation was reduced from 24% to 14% in Jharkhand. Ajsu-P should first clarify its stance on OBC reservation."

Ajsu-P planning to fight Bihar polls, says chief

1 2 Ranchi: Ajsu-P supremo Sudesh Mahto on Sunday said his party was planning to fight the upcoming state assembly elections in Bihar but the interest of NDA alliance would be top priority while coming to any decision. Attending the party's foundation day, which was observed as 'Baliddan Diwas', Mahto said, "People are approaching the party to contest elections in Bihar but the interest of NDA will be priority." Raising question marks on the timing of implementation of Maiya Samman Yojna by the state govt before the state assembly elections last year, he said, "Why was the amount distributed among 6.5 lakhs people who were later on declared ineligible. The scheme should have been linked to the basic parameters of people, including education and health." Welcoming the union govt's decision to hold caste survey, he added, "Most of the crimes in the state are related to land. A plot is being registered for half a dozen times. The circle officer and the police station in-charges are admonishing the real owner rather than the fake claimant." The state govt has drafted neither the employment policy nor the displacement policy, he claimed.

Road project plaque vandalised in Bokaro, sparks controversy

Bokaro: A road construction project, the foundation of which was laid under the Chief Minister Gram Sadak Yojana in Dantu village, has stirred a political controversy after its stone plaque was found vandalised 24 hours after Giridih MP of opposition Ajsu-P, Chandraprakash Chaudhary, performed 'Bhoomi Pujan' at the project site. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now According to villagers, the road project, connecting Ravidas Tola to Jara Haluma, was initially inaugurated online by chief minister Hemant Soren on September 13, 2024. However, a 'Bhoomi Pujan' was organised on June 5, led by Chaudhary in the presence of departmental junior engineer Sameer Kumar Das, local mukhiya Chandrashekhar Nayak and several villagers. Drinking water minister Yogendra Prasad's name was also inscribed on the plaque though he did not attend the event. By Friday morning, the plaque was discovered shattered by unknown miscreants. This triggered sharp reactions from Ajsu-P supporters and local residents, who expressed outrage and called it an act of political sabotage. Chaudhary condemned the act, calling it a "clear violation of the law" and branding the perpetrators as "anti-development elements". He urged the district administration to identify and take strict action against those responsible for the vandalism. JMM's Kasmar block president Dilip Hembram denied the party's involvement in the vandalism and claimed that Chaudhary overstepped his authority by performing the Bhoomi Pujan for a state govt scheme.
