Kazma signs Al-Enezi as part of squad overhaul for new season

KUWAIT CITY, June 30: Kazma Club has officially signed veteran midfielder Sultan Al-Enezi, who will join the team for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. The former Kuwait international returns to club football after parting ways with Omani side Dhofar in January. Al-Enezi, who previously played for Al-Qadsiya and Al-Arabi, brings valuable experience to the midfield as Kazma continues to rebuild ahead of the new Premier League season starting September 12. The 'Orange' team has already made several moves to strengthen the squad. Kazma secured the services of Olympic team standout Bandar Al-Barazi from Al-Nasr Club, and renewed the contract of defender Bader Dhikrallah after his strong comeback season following a two-year academic absence. Striker Mishaal Al-Shammari, a vital part of Kazma's attack, also extended his stay with the club. Meanwhile, club captain Hamad Al-Harbi departed to join Al-Arabi. Kazma is undergoing a managerial transition as well, with Croatian coach Dragan Tadić taking over from Bosnian Rosimir Cefko. The club has also bolstered its foreign contingent by signing Jordanians Ali Al-Azaizeh and Yousef Bujzer, while renewing the contracts of Anas Al-Awadat and Nigerian Samson Enekola after their solid performances last season. As part of the overhaul, the club opted not to renew the contracts of Brazilian Janos Ramalo, Tunisian Montaser Lahtimi, and Nigerian Kinglesi Sokari. In related transfer news, Fahaheel added to its midfield by signing Salman Al-Boos, who recently left Al-Qadsiya. Despite limited appearances last season, Al-Boos has been a regular with the Olympic national team and is expected to play a key role at his new club.

Care for elderly in their homes

KUWAIT CITY, June 9: Director of the Elderly Care Department at the Ministry of Social Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Enezi confirmed that the ministry provides comprehensive care services to around 4,000 elderly people at home through mobile service centers, as part of the State's efforts to improve the quality of life for the elderly and support their families that are taking care of them. In a press statement, Al-Enezi disclosed that the mobile teams of the ministry are currently conducting periodic home visits to the elderly to check their conditions and review the living environment provided by their families. He said these teams help the families identify health changes that may occur in the elderly, educate them about the diseases associated with old age, and teach them how to properly deal with this group. Regarding digital services, Al-Enezi stated that priority cards can be applied for through the 'Sahel' app and delivered electronically through 'Kuwait Mobile ID' app. Meanwhile, parking plates for the elderly are delivered either to the elderly themselves or to their caregiver through the mobile service centers. He said the number of parking plates designated for the elderly has so far reached around 3,000; while around 7,000 priority cards have been issued, reflecting the high demand for this service and the effectiveness of the system launched by the ministry to better serve the elderly

Kuwait urges action on missing persons in armed conflicts

Minister Plenipotentiary and Deputy Permanent Representative of Kuwait at the United Nations Faisal Al-Enezi hold talks with other officials. - KUNA NEW YORK: Kuwait has reaffirmed the urgent need to address the plight of missing persons in armed conflicts by tackling root causes and fostering inclusive dialogue as a foundation for peaceful dispute resolution. The statement came during remarks by Minister Plenipotentiary and Deputy Permanent Representative of Kuwait to the United Nations Faisal Al-Enezi at a side event hosted Thursday at Kuwait's Mission to the UN. The event was organized in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), and The Global Alliance for the Missing. Al-Enezi cited alarming figures from the ICRC indicating that 2024 witnessed the highest annual increase in the number of missing persons in more than two decades. He stressed the pressing need for proactive preventive measures and effective mechanisms to respond to such cases. Highlighting Kuwait's longstanding leadership in this field, Al-Enezi pointed to the country's sponsorship of UN Security Council Resolution 2474 (2019) — the first resolution dedicated to missing persons in armed conflict. The resolution underscores the importance of prevention, identification of the missing, return of remains to families, and accountability as key components of reconciliation and lasting peace. He further called on all parties to conflict to register and report the personal details of detainees and guarantee their ability to communicate with family members. Al-Enezi concluded by reaffirming Kuwait's commitment to promoting collective dialogue and strengthening practical cooperation between states, UN agencies, and civil society to better safeguard the rights of missing persons and prevent future tragedies. — KUNA

Kuwait stresses nuclear disarmament as basic principle of NPT

NEW YORK: State of Kuwait underlined nuclear disarmament as the ultimate goal and basic principle of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), considering it a main pillar of international stability and NPT credibility. The call was made by the Diplomatic Attache' of the Kuwaiti Permanent Delegation at the UN Bandar Al-Enezi before the Third Preparatory Committee of the NPT late Thursday. He said that though the treaty came into force more than 50 years ago, its main goal of nuclear disarmament has not been attained, a worrying thing that requires some urgent international action. He added that policies of nuclear deterrence and continued modernization of nuclear arsenals have fueled the arms race and increased regional and international tensions in a clear-cut breach of relevant international commitments. The Kuwaiti diplomat regarded that the complete and irreversible elimination of nuclear weapons as part of an internationally verifiable framework is deemed the only guarantee to avert their future use. Calling on all countries, especially nuclear ones, to comply with relevant treaties and international resolutions, Al-Enezi echoed his country's support for all initiatives aiming at criminalizing the use of nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction.
