The Minister of Interior paid a visit to the Jaber Border Crossing on Tuesday to inspect operations and review the procedures and services provided to travelers. اضافة اعلان He emphasized that the Ministry of Interior is working under a comprehensive vision to develop all border crossings, noting that the Jaber Border Center is experiencing high levels of activity on multiple fronts. This, he said, requires intensified efforts to ensure a secure and smooth environment for travelers and to guarantee the provision of top-quality services according to the highest standards. During a meeting with the staff at the center, the minister affirmed that the Ministry attaches special importance to border posts and crossings. He highlighted that the Jaber Border Center is currently undergoing major expansion, including the construction of new, fully equipped halls to serve both incoming and outgoing travelers, as part of a broader plan to upgrade infrastructure and raise service quality. He explained that this expansion comes in response to a significant increase in traveler numbers, pointing out that Jaber is now the third busiest border crossing in the country after Queen Alia International Airport and the Al-Omari Border Center. He added that the number of travelers through the center in the first five months of this year has doubled compared to the same period last year. The minister noted that the center now operates around the clock, both for passenger and cargo traffic—an unprecedented step that reflects improved performance and upgraded services. Regarding the return of Syrian refugees, the Interior Minister stated that approximately 80,000 Syrian refugees have voluntarily returned to their homeland via the center in recent months, indicating improved security conditions and increasing coordination between Jordanian and Syrian authorities. Concerning freight movement, the minister pointed out that the center has seen growing activity. On one of the days leading up to Eid al-Adha, around 3,200 trucks crossed in both directions—a record number for a single day at the center. Al-Farayeh acknowledged the existence of some challenges related to customs clearance procedures on the Syrian side, but emphasized the tangible efforts by the Syrian authorities to address them. He also confirmed that coordination continues between both sides through official channels. He further stated that communication with the Syrian Minister of Interior is ongoing, as part of joint efforts to enhance cooperation and overcome obstacles facing the movement of people and goods—ultimately serving the mutual interests of the two brotherly nations. It is worth noting that the Jaber Border Crossing is a strategic transit point linking the Kingdom of Jordan with the Syrian Arab Republic and plays a vital role in regional trade and transit movement.
