Al-Jahra signs Albanian defender Hysen Memolla
KUWAIT CITY, July 17: Al-Jahra officially signed Albanian international defender Hysen Memolla as part of the club's preparations for the upcoming 2024–2025 season, set to kick off on September 12 with the Zain Premier League. The club returns to the top division after a successful campaign in the First Division last season, where they clinched the title and earned promotion back to the Premier League. Memolla, 32, is a left-footed center-back and most recently played for Kosovo's FC Suhareka, helping the team capture the domestic league title. Throughout his career, he has played for several European clubs, including Hajduk Split (Croatia), Koper (Slovenia), Egnatia (Albania), and Salernitana (Italy). He has also made six appearances for the Albanian national team. Memolla becomes the third foreign player on Al-Jahra's roster this season, joining Tunisian midfielder Amro Zakri—who recently renewed his contract—and Angolan forward Antonio Silva, signed last month. Al-Jahra is set to begin preseason training next week, followed by an overseas training camp that will include a series of friendly matches to prepare for the league campaign.

Zayed signs extension as Kuwait Club sets sights on new season
KUWAIT CITY, July 14: Kuwait Club has officially renewed the contract of midfielder Faisal Zayed for one more season as part of its ongoing preparations for the 2025–2026 sports season. Zayed, who joined Kuwait Club from Al-Jahra seven seasons ago, has become a key figure in the team's midfield. His renewal adds to a list of other retained talents, including Ahmed Al-Dhafiri, Mohammed Fareeh, Reda Hani, Saud Al-Hoshan, Mohsen Falah, and Mohammed Al-Rashed. The club has also strengthened its squad by re-signing veteran goalkeeper Khaled Al-Rashidi, who previously played for Al-Qadsiya, Al-Arabi, and Al-Salmiya and recently represented the national team. Additionally, head coach Nebojsa Jovovic of Montenegro has renewed his contract for a second consecutive season. Fresh off a dominant season, the 'Whites' are aiming to maintain their winning momentum. Last year, Kuwait Club clinched the Zain Premier League, Crown Prince Cup, and the Super Cup, while also reaching the final of His Highness the Amir Cup, which was postponed from its scheduled date of June 16 due to regional circumstances. Tunisian coach Nabil Maaloul is expected to arrive in Kuwait today to lead Qadsiya in its preparations for the upcoming season. The team is scheduled to hold its first training session tomorrow, with the new Zain Premier League campaign kicking off on September 12. The club's technical and administrative staff is working swiftly to complete their foreign player roster. Contracts with Moroccan Ismail Khafi, Nigerian Daniel Gibola, and Algerian Hussein Dhiri have been terminated, while the status of Libyan Mohamed Soula and Moroccan Mehdi Berrahma remains unresolved. Newly promoted Al-Shabab continues to enhance its squad with local talent. The club has signed former Kuwait Club midfielder Hussein Al-Harbi, in addition to earlier acquisitions including goalkeeper Saud Al-Qanaei and players Ahmed Ghazi, Mohammed Khalil, Yaqoub Al-Tararwah, Shaheen Al-Khamis, and Dhahi Al-Shammari. Relegated side Khaitan has made significant moves in the transfer market by signing five foreign players—two from Tunisia, two from Brazil, and one from Ghana—in preparation for the First Division, which begins on September 14. Training will commence the day after tomorrow at Nasser Al-Osaimi Stadium, under the guidance of Tunisian coach Hatem Al-Mouddeb. The team will then head to Cairo, Egypt, by August 15 for a training camp featuring four friendly matches.

KUWAIT CITY, June 9: Croatian coach Rodion Gasanin, known as "Radan," has officially returned to Kuwait after signing an agreement with Al-Jahra to take charge of the first football team for the upcoming season. Radan, 61, brings with him over 28 years of coaching experience. His career began in Croatia with clubs Opatija and Orient before he transitioned to the Gulf region. His impressive résumé includes stints with prominent clubs such as Kuwait Club, Al-Qadsiya, Al-Nasr (Kuwait and Saudi Arabia), Hajr, Al-Orouba (Saudi Arabia), Erbil (Iraq), Al-Muharraq SC and Al-Riffa (Bahrain), Al-Mesaimeer (Qatar), Al-Merreikh (Sudan), and Al-Ahli Benghazi (Libya). Radan also had a brief tenure with the Kuwait national team in 2008, which ended after a loss to Syria during the 2010 World Cup qualifiers. Throughout his career, Radan has achieved notable success, securing multiple titles across various leagues. He led Al-Qadsiya to victories in the Kuwait Premier League, Amir's Cup, and Super Cup. With Kuwait Club, he captured both the league title and the Crown Prince Cup. His time in Bahrain was also fruitful, winning the league twice, the Crown Prince Cup three times, and the Federation Cup once. Al-Jahra's board of directors has already coordinated with Radan regarding the selection of three foreign players for the new season. This comes following the contract renewal of Tunisian defender Amr Ben Zekri and the signing of Brazilian midfielder Silva, who played for Al-Sulaibikhat last season. Al-Jahra recently earned promotion back to the Zain Premier League after finishing first in the Zain First Division League, and the club now looks to Radan to lead them into a competitive return at the top tier.
