Al-Qurain to face Kuwait Club in Handball Cup quarterfinals
KUWAIT CITY, June 19: The first round of the quarterfinals in the 57th Kuwait Handball Association Cup will take place tomorrow at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex. Reigning champion Kuwait Club, which has held the title for 11 consecutive years, will face Al-Qurain at 5:00 pm. The second match of the day sees Yarmouk square off against Salmiya at 6:30 pm. Al-Qurain secured its spot in the quarterfinals after defeating Al-Sahel 36-31 in the preliminary round. Yarmouk advanced in a hard-fought match, narrowly edging past Al-Tadamon 27-26. Al-Samiya also qualified by beating Al-Nasr with a score of 36-31. In transfer news, Al-Qadsiya is on the verge of signing Tunisian international and Shabab Al-Ahli (UAE) standout Rayan Zariat. He is expected to replace Montenegrin player Vladan, who is reportedly close to joining Kuwait Club. Kuwait Club is expected to rely on their foreign trio: Frankis Marzo, Vladan, and a yet-to-be-confirmed European midfielder. In a separate development, Al-Nasr handball players Jaber Al-Azmi and Sayer Al-Enezi have announced their retirement from the sport following their team's Cup Championship exit. Al-Azmi is expected to take on the role of assistant goalkeeper coach, while Al-Enezi may pursue a coaching position within the club.

Kazma and Kuwait Club reach Federation Cup semifinals
KUWAIT CITY, May 22: Kazma and Kuwait Club advanced to the semi-finals of the Federation Cup following thrilling quarter-final victories over Al-Qurain and Yarmouk. The intense matches took place at the Basketball Federation Hall in Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex. Kazma earned its spot after an 83-78 comeback win against Al-Qurain, while Kuwait Club dominated Yarmouk 148-67. This sets up an exciting semi-final clash between Kazma and Kuwait Club next Monday. The final semi-final place will be decided tonight at 6:00 pm when Al-Qadsiya faces Al-Arabi. Kazma trailed through the first three quarters, with Al-Qurain leading 23-13, 41-34, and 64-53, powered by standout performances from Adel Al-Saeed (19 points) and Americans Love (20 points), and Austin (11 points). However, Kazma mounted an impressive rally in the final quarter under coach Yahya Kulaib's leadership, fueled by key contributions from American Jackson (20 points), Frenchman Berhanemskel (14 points), and Abdullah Rehan (13 points), turning the game around to claim a well-deserved 83-78 victory. In the second quarter-final, defending champions Al-Abyad showcased their dominance with a staggering 148-67 win over Yarmouk. The team maintained control throughout all four quarters, finishing with scores of 42-15, 84-35, 125-54, and 148-67. Top scorers for Al-Abyad included Aziz Ramadan (21 points), Mohammed Adnan (19 points), Fahad Al-Dhafiri (18 points), and Youssef Al-Hamdan and Alexander Al-Ghais, who each added 17 points. The semi-finals promise intense competition as these top teams vie for the championship title.

Al-Qurain clinches Squash Federation Cup, secures historic double
KUWAIT CITY, May 21: Al-Qurain Club continued its dominance in squash by claiming the Men's Federation Cup title after defeating Yarmouk 2-1 in the final, marking a historic achievement as the club secured both the league and cup titles for the first time in its history. In the opening match, Al-Qurain's Khaled Al-Fawzan overcame Yarmouk's Jassim Al-Gharib with a 3-1 victory. This was followed by a strong performance from Saif Heikal, who defeated international player Ammar Al-Tamimi, also by a 3-1 margin, to seal the win for Al-Qurain. Yarmouk settled for second place, while Al-Nasr finished third. The trophy and medals were presented by Squash Federation President Walid Al-Sumaie and Al-Qurain Club President Abdulkarim Al-Shahoumi, alongside Federation Vice President Khaled Al-Habib, Secretary General Hamed Al-Omran, and Board Member Adel Al-Gharib. During the ceremony, Al-Shahoumi also awarded the General Excellence Cup to Al-Qurain's Director of Squash, Mohammed Al-Jamal. Al-Qurain topped the General Excellence standings with 44 points, followed by Khaitan with 30 points and Al-Arabi with 24 points. Other rankings included Yarmouk (9 points), Kuwait Club (8), and Al-Nasr (2). Handball Premier League fixtures moved to Tuesday amid Cup final
KUWAIT CITY, May 18: The Kuwait Handball Association has announced the postponement of the third round matches of the Premier League Second Division, initially scheduled for today, to tomorrow (Tuesday), in consideration of the Crown Prince's Cup final between Kuwait Club and Al-Arabi. The rescheduled matches will take place at Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex as follows: 4:30 pm– Burgan vs. Kazma 6:00 pm – Kuwait Club vs. Al-Arabi 7:30 pm – Salmiya vs. Sulaibikhat Kuwait Club currently leads the standings with a perfect 40 points, followed by Burgan with 33, Kazma with 28, Salmiya with 21, and both Sulaibikhat and Al-Arabi with 18 points each. Meanwhile, the Association has also revised the match schedule for the First Division League. The ninth round kicks off today, with Al-Qurain playing Khaitan at 5:00 pm and Fahaheel facing Al-Sahel at 6:30 pm. Qadsia led the First Division table with 26 points, closely followed by Al-Qurain (24), Al-Nasr (23), Khaitan and Fahaheel (18 each), Yarmouk (6), Al-Tadamon (5), and Al-Sahel (0). In earlier matches, Khaitan defeated Fahaheel 40–29, while Al-Qurain beat Al-Tadamon 32–25.

Al-Qadsiya claims bronze after marathon win over Al-Qurain
KUWAIT CITY, May 3: Al-Qadsiya secured third place in the Kuwaiti Basketball League after an intense showdown, defeating Al-Qurain 100-96 in the second playoff match for third place, clinching the bronze medal. The game extended into five overtimes after both teams were tied at 88 points at the end of regulation time. This marked Al-Qadsiya's second consecutive victory over Al-Qurain, following their 90-76 win last Tuesday, thus sealing the best-of-three series 2-0. Al-Qadsiya shone in the extended clash, with captain Abdulaziz Al-Humaidi scoring 21 points, Cedric Henry adding 20 points, and Mohammed Al-Dakhil delivering in the clutch moments. On the other side, Al-Qurain leaned heavily on its star import Jumaro Brown, who poured in a game-high 35 points, supported by Austin with 21 points and Adel Al-Saeed with 14. Meanwhile, attention now shifts to the league final, where Kuwait Club will face Kazma tonight at 7:30 PM at the Basketball Federation Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex. Kuwait Club already holds an edge in the series after defeating "Kazma" 80-61 in the first match last Wednesday. A second win today would put it one step closer to retaining the league title, as the championship is decided in a best-of-five playoff format.
