Morocco's steadfast support for Palestine praised by PLO official in Rabat meeting
Ahmad Said Ahmad Al-Tamimi, head of the Department of Human Rights and Civil Society within the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), praised Morocco's steadfast support for the Palestinian cause on Tuesday in Rabat, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, President of the Al-Quds Committee. Speaking to the press following his meeting with Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, Al-Tamimi expressed his deep appreciation for the historic and enduring ties between Morocco and the Palestinian Authority. He emphasized the continued backing provided by the Kingdom across generations, under the reigns of the late King Mohammed V, the late King Hassan II, and King Mohammed VI. The meeting addressed several pressing issues, including the consequences of the Israeli blockade, the need to release financial support for the Palestinian Authority, and Israeli violations at border crossings. Al-Tamimi also raised concerns about the situation in Al-Quds, condemning Israeli practices targeting Palestinian residents. He praised the vital role of the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by King Mohammed VI, in defending the holy city and bolstering the resilience of the Maqdessis.

Libya & Jordan Discuss Expanding Military Cooperation
Led by Lieutenant General Khairi Al-Tamimi, Secretary-General of the Libyan General Command of the Armed Forces, a high-ranking Libyan military delegation visited the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to strengthen military cooperation. During the visit, Al-Tamimi met with Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Hunaiti, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces, in Amman. The meeting was attended by several officers and officials from both sides. Talks focused on a range of topics of mutual interest, with an emphasis on enhancing military cooperation, particularly in training programs. As part of the visit, Al-Tamimi also toured the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Training City, where he was received by Brigadier General Abdulkarim Al-Subailah, Director of the Training City, along with senior Jordanian military officers. He inspected the city's facilities and educational centers, emphasizing the importance of military training in building capabilities and strengthening professionalism. Al-Tamimi also met with Libyan trainees and officers enrolled in training programs, delivering a motivational speech in which he stressed the importance of discipline, commitment, and making the most of training opportunities to develop skills and competencies, in line with the General Command's vision for building and qualifying military personnel. Libya has been in chaos since a NATO-backed uprising toppled longtime leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. The county has for years been split between rival administrations. Libya's economy, heavily reliant on oil, has suffered due to the ongoing conflict. The instability has led to fluctuations in oil production and prices, impacting the global oil market and Libya's economy. The conflict has led to a significant humanitarian crisis in Libya, with thousands of people killed, and many more displaced. Migrants and refugees using Libya as a transit point to Europe have also faced dire conditions. The planned elections for December 2021 were delayed due to disagreements over election laws and the eligibility of certain candidates. This delay has raised concerns about the feasibility of a peaceful political transition. Despite the ceasefire, security remains a significant concern with sporadic fighting and the presence of mercenaries and foreign fighters. The unification of the military and the removal of foreign forces are crucial challenges. Tags: JordanlibyaLibyan armyLNA

Unprecedented water catastrophe threatens Basra
Shafaq News – Basra The Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights in Basra warned that the province is facing a 'water catastrophe' and worsening humanitarian conditions due to escalating water pollution. Mehdi al-Tamimi, director of the Commission's office in Basra, told Shafaq News Agency that the water crisis—marked by scarcity, salinity, and toxicity—has reached levels "unprecedented in any city in the world,' and demands an 'all-out governmental mobilization.' Al-Tamimi renewed calls for both the Iraqi and local governments to declare a state of emergency in Basra and suspend all development projects except for those related to water, stressing the need for strict enforcement against water quota violations and tighter control of water flow rates under the direct supervision of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. He also urged the urgent import of mobile desalination stations using ultrafiltration (UF) and reverse osmosis (RO) technologies, which can be rapidly deployed in affected areas until the major desalination plant is completed. Similar technologies, he said, have helped other countries avert drought disasters.

Saudi Insurance Authority revokes licences of several insurance companies
The Saudi Insurance Authority (IA) has taken action to revoke the licences of 28 insurance and brokerage companies. This move is part of a broader strategy to stabilise and improve the performance and credibility of the insurance sector in the country. According to a Saudi Gazette report, these decisions are grounded in the Cooperative Insurance Companies Control Law and other relevant regulations. The revocations are the culmination of a series of corrective measures that began on 28 August 2024. They aim to protect the rights of insured individuals and beneficiaries while promoting financial stability within the sector. The companies affected by these licence revocations include Shire Insurance Agency, Al-Bulurat Insurance Brokerage Services, Al-Sabil Asia Insurance and Reinsurance Brokerage, Al-Aman Insurance and Reinsurance Brokerage, and Future Vision Insurance Brokerage. The list of companies whose licences have been terminated extends to Ahed Saudi Insurance Agency, Al-Rabt Saudi Insurance Brokerage, Aman Gate Insurance Agency, Fursan Insurance Agency, Insurance Management for Insurance Agency, Laval Insurance Brokerage, Panorama Elite Insurance Agency, Saudi Agents Insurance Agents, Saudi Shield Insurance Agency and Takaful Amanah Cooperative Insurance Agency. Eng. Naji Al-Tamimi, CEO of the Insurance Authority, previously indicated that the IA is considering the elimination of health insurance pre-approval systems. These systems are designed to confirm medical necessity and mitigate health risks but have faced criticism for causing delays detrimental to beneficiaries. Al-Tamimi also mentioned that the Authority plans to start publishing performance indicators including the complaint rate in relation to the number of individual health and motor insurance policyholders for each insurance company. Earlier this year, insurance brokerage Willis Towers Watson was granted a licence to operate as a reinsurance broker in Saudi Arabia. "Saudi Insurance Authority revokes licences of several insurance companies" was originally created and published by Life Insurance International, a GlobalData owned brand.
