Oman: TRA tracks down on individuals sharing internet connection
Muscat: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), has urged not to distribute and sell internet service without obtaining a license. According to TRA, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, in cooperation with relevant authorities, has begun field inspection campaigns to seize wireless networks that illegally distribute internet services. Al Moatasem bin Nasser Al Ghazali, Director of the Frequency Monitoring and Inspection Department at the Communications Regulatory Authority said in an interview :"A family member, in partnership with a licensed telecommunications company, may distribute and sell internet service to relatives, siblings, and neighbors without obtaining a license. This is considered an illegal act. This action causes significant damage to mobile phone service operators and threatens the huge investments pumped into providing an advanced and reliable telecommunications infrastructure due to the radio interference caused by these illegal networks and their impact on data speed. " " Article (53) of the Telecommunications Regulatory Law stipulates that anyone who establishes, assists, or incites the establishment or operation of a telecommunications system without obtaining a license from the Authority shall be punished by imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years, or a fine not exceeding OMR 50,000 , or one of these two penalties, " Al Ghazali added Al Ghazali said that we have devices and systems to track these illegal networks, in cooperation with the operators, through their data centers, where individuals who illegally sell this service to nearby homes and businesses are tracked." © Muscat Media Group Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc. JAKARTA: Indonesian rock icon Ahmad Dhani's eldest son, Al Ghazali Kohler, 27, has married his long-term girlfriend of eight years, Alyssa Daguise. Al Ghazali, whose mother is singer Maia Estianty, exchanged vows with Alyssa in a ceremony held at 10am yesterday in the Indonesian capital. The couple looked elegant in traditional Sundanese attire. As part of the dowry, Al Ghazali presented Alyssa with 16.6g of gold and silver, along with 2,025 Euros (RM9,909.77). Both Al Ghazali's parents and his siblings were present at the ceremony. Al Ghazali, a member of the Indonesian rock band Lucky Laki, began his relationship with Alyssa, who is of French and Indonesian heritage, in 2016. He proposed to her last month at Lake Como, Italy. Ahmad Dhani and Maia have three sons, aged 27, 25, and 24.

23 Apr 2025 00:20 SARA ALZAABI (ABU DHABI)Even in an age of artificial intelligence (AI) — when text can be translated in several languages in a matter of seconds — human skills remain essential, top experts told Aletihad on experts and prominent figures in the academe have gathered for the Fifth International Translation Conference, which kicked off in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. Hosted by the National Library and Archives (NLA), the conference runs until April 23 under the theme 'Translation in New Contexts in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Technical Challenges and Future Aspirations'.Dr. Abdulla Majed Al Ali, Director General of the NLA, said that while AI role in translation has been expanding, human translators remain necessary, especially in capturing context, tone, and cultural conference, he said, explores how technology is reshaping the field and how translators can adapt to the transformations while safeguarding the human Fawzi Al Ghazali, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and Professor of Applied Linguistics at Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities – UAE, also stressed the enduring importance of human translators."Elements such as language collocation, cognition, and cultural implications are still areas where AI struggles. These intricacies of language often require human sensitivity and contextual understanding, which machines are not yet fully capable of replicating,' Prof. Al Ghazali, who also served as one of the moderators at the event, told Aletihad.'While we anticipate future improvements in AI, human involvement remains indispensable for ensuring depth, accuracy, and meaning in translation,' he added.A Major PlatformThis edition of the International Translation Conference comes at a time when clarity and expertise are sought amid the AI-driven transformation of the industry."This conference makes a significant contribution to understanding how AI can enhance and streamline the translation process at both literary and scientific levels. The speakers and discussions offer valuable insights into how AI can reinforce the field of translation, especially at a time when there's increasing speculation that AI might eventually replace human translators,' Prof. Al Ghazali the years, the conference has evolved, said Hamad Al Hamiri, Director of the Research and Knowledge Services Department at the NLA."The conference, having matured over the past four editions, has become a key platform for addressing translation issues and challenges.
