Promoting environmental values As part of its commitment to supporting young people and promoting environmental values among new generations, Al Hamriyah Municipality continues its active participation in the Sharjah Sports Summer 2025 - Our Holiday is Different activities. This workshop is organised in cooperation with the Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club and under the supervision of the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC), within a comprehensive vision that combines education, entertainment, and creativity. The workshop, held on Tuesday amidst an enthusiastic atmosphere and remarkable interaction, offered participants a unique experience in designing and crafting masks inspired by famous cartoon characters using recycled materials, promoting environmental awareness and reuse in their daily lives. The diverse activities contributed to developing the participants' aesthetic sense and artistic imagination in a simple yet purposeful manner. The workshop was led by Sheikha Jamal Al Shamsi and Maryam Humaid Al Shamsi, from the Corporate Communications Department at Al Hamriyah Municipality. They presented a pioneering model of positive interaction with children, presenting the workshop using an educational methodology that blends interactive learning with creative play, a process that was greatly appreciated by the participants and their parents. Prioritising childhood and youth Commenting on the event, His Excellency Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality, emphasised that the municipality's participation in the "Our Holiday is Different" activities falls within the framework of its commitment to supporting the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah to build a cohesive society that prioritises childhood and youth and adopts meaningful programmes during the "Year of Society 2025." Al Shamsi explained that Al Hamriyah Municipality adopts an integrated strategy based on engaging national cadres in the preparation and implementation of initiatives targeting young people and adolescents, working to develop their intellectual, creative, and environmental skills within a safe and stimulating educational environment. He noted that this workshop represents one of the fundamental building blocks in building an educated, aware, and environmentally friendly generation. Balancing entertainment and education Al Shamsi added that the partnership with Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club is a model of effective institutional cooperation, enhancing the societal impact of summer initiatives and creating an ideal balance between entertainment and education. He noted that the municipality will continue to offer a series of awareness-raising and recreational workshops and activities until the end of July, as part of the Sharjah Summer Programme. Al Shamsi emphasised Al Hamriyah Municipality's commitment to its societal role in enhancing quality of life and building the capacities of children and adolescents, noting that summer programmes represent a golden opportunity to instill positive values and invest free time in purposeful activities that build minds and contribute to shaping a bright future for future generations.

Annual Community Participation The annual participation of Al Hamriyah Municipality comes as part of its distinguished contribution to "Sharjah Sports Summer," held under the slogan "Our Holiday is Different," organised by Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club and supervised by the Sharjah Sports Council, running from June 30 to July 31. Interactive Environmental Workshop This year's summer program kicked off with an interactive environmental workshop called "Together We Protect Our Marine Environment." The session aimed to educate children about the importance of preserving marine life and the threats posed by plastic waste to marine creatures and the overall ecosystem. Creative Awareness Activities The workshop was led by a team from the municipality's Public Relations Department, including Asma Al Muhairi, Sheikha Al Shamsi, and Reem Al Muhairi. It included interactive content and engaging activities using recycled materials, such as plastic bottle caps. This approach effectively conveyed environmental messages in a fun and practical manner, while also promoting creativity and awareness among participants. Strengthening Community Engagement His Excellency Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality, emphasised that summer activities have become a vital component of the municipality's community agenda, noting their significant role in enhancing youth awareness and ensuring meaningful and enjoyable use of time during the summer break. He highlighted that teams across all departments collaborated to create and implement comprehensive programs that align with community aspirations, adapt to developmental changes, and instill values of innovation, creativity, and a sense of environmental and social belonging in children. Vision for Future Generations Al Shamsi underscored that the Municipality's program embodies its vision for community and developmental work, focusing on building a conscious generation equipped with the tools and skills necessary for active societal participation. He also commended the productive cooperation with Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club and the Sharjah Sports Council, affirming the municipality's commitment to supporting community and student programs. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships with various entities in Sharjah to fulfill community development goals and maximize the benefits of the summer holiday for the region's youth.

From heritage to creativity The workshop offered children the opportunity to be creative and express their ideas by designing their own Ramadan lanterns. The workshop, which was held, on Sunday, after Tarawih prayers, saw great interaction with children visiting the village. Participants were provided with a variety of specialised tools, such as cardboard, paints, and decorative ribbons, to introduce them to the basics of design, decoration, and handicrafts. It also provided them with the opportunity to experiment with different manual lantern-making techniques, which contributed to stimulating their manual skills and enhancing their skills in innovation and creativity. Sheikha Jamal Al Shamsi, from the Corporate Communications Department at Al Hamriyah Municipality, emphasised that the workshop was not limited to crafts alone; rather, it sought to develop the children's intellectual and creative abilities, in addition to instilling the concept of teamwork among them, which enhances their sense of accomplishment and self-confidence. It also connected them to Ramadan customs in a fun, educational, and simple way. Supporting community initiatives His Excellency Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality, explained that the municipality's participation in the Ramadan Village stems from its commitment to supporting community initiatives aimed at strengthening social cohesion and providing a recreational and educational environment for children. Al Shamsi noted that the workshop provided a unique opportunity for children to develop their handicraft skills and learn about the importance of the lantern as a heritage symbol during the holy month. His Excellency Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi added that the municipality's participation in the Ramadan Village is part of its strategy to enhance community work and institutional cooperation with various entities, most notably the Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club, given the role these partnerships play in achieving sustainable community development. 3rd Al Hamriyah Ramadan Football Tournament Kicks Off

The tournament is organised by Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club, as part of its Ramadan activities programme. Eight participating teams Eight teams representing government departments and entities in Al Hamriyah and the region's residents are participating in the tournament, namely, Al Hamriyah (A) and (B), Al Hamriyah Municipality (A) and (B), Sharjah Asset Management and Al Hamriyah Suburb, in addition to Al Nakhal District and Al Hamriyah Youth. The participating teams were divided into two groups, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the semi-finals. Prizes will be awarded to the champion, runner-up, and third-place winners. Fierce competition Mr. Issa bin Rukn, member of the club's board of directors and head of the Cultural and Community Committee, confirmed that the opening day of the tournament saw intense competition between the participating teams, characterised by high sportsmanship, amidst a large crowd. Mr. Issa bin Rukn pointed out that matches will be held daily until March 20, which will witness the tournament's finale, with the winners being crowned with cash prizes totaling approximately AED 20,000.

An interactive experience for visitors Al Hamriyah Club participated in the event from February 17–20, establishing a dedicated pavilion that enabled visitors to engage in their favourite sports, such as football, basketball, and cycling. The club organised a variety of activities and competitions, providing prizes for the winners. Showcasing the club's history and achievements The club's pavilion displayed a series of photographs that connected its history with the present, highlighting its evolution from inception to its most significant accomplishments. This exhibition drew a significant crowd of attendees. Commitment to heritage and cultural identity Issa bin Rukun, a board member of Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club and chairman of the Cultural and Community Committee, highlighted the club's dedication to engaging in Sharjah Heritage Days. He expressed that this involvement showcases the club's commitment to safeguarding Emirati heritage and enhancing cultural identity for generations to come.
