Qatar provides $4.8 billion in foreign aid to LDCs: NPC
QNA New York The National Planning Council (NPC) has revealed that Qatar provided $4.8 billion in foreign aid since 2020, 90 percent of which has been allocated to Least Developed Countries (LDCs). Sixty-four percent of this aid aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in the areas of poverty alleviation, healthcare, and education. In a statement, the NPC revealed that among the pioneering initiatives to which Qatar has contributed is the 'Education Above All' programme, which has impacted and resonated with more than 10 million children in more than 60 countries. Qatar has also hosted prestigious international platforms, including the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries and the International Conference on Resilience of Water and Food Security in the Face of Climate Change 2025. National Planning CouncilSecretary-General HE Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa is heading Qatar's delegation to the 2025 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development, which begins at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Monday and will run until July 23. Al Khalifa will present Qatar's Voluntary National Review (VNR) at the HLPF, which serves as the UN's central platform for reviewing global progress on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, said NPC in a statement today. The HLPF brings together heads of member states, international organizations, and civil society to assess performance and accelerate action toward the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this context, Al Khalifa stated, 'Qatar's participation in the HLPF reflects its commitment to implementing the Sustainable Development Agenda as an integral part of its national development journey, guided by Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy. By showcasing the progress made in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, Qatar's Voluntary National Review highlights the strong alignment between national and global development objectives, broadening avenues for international cooperation and partnership to secure a prosperous and sustainable future for generations to come.' In addition to presenting Qatar's 2025 Voluntary National Review, he will take part in ministerial roundtable sessions, bilateral meetings, and expert panels taking place throughout the forum. Prepared under the leadership of the National Planning Council, Qatar's 2025 VNR comprises a 297-page national report that documents over 900 data points, 251 indicators, and 30 case studies. This marks Qatar's fourth VNR, reflecting broad-based contributions from over 100 stakeholders, including youth, the private sector, ministries, academia, and civil society organisations. This VNR provides a data-driven account of how Qatar is translating its long-term vision into measurable progress. Under Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy (2024-2030), more than 60 national strategies have been aligned with the SDG framework.

Tradition meets movement The exhibition features kinetic installations made of aluminium, designed to react to changes in light and the movement of visitors. Inspired by the traditional Mashrabiya, a hallmark of Gulf architecture, Al Khalifa transforms ornamental latticework into immersive modern compositions that invite reflection. His work blends structure and emotion, bridging history and forward-looking design while offering a sensory journey that speaks to Bahrain's evolving identity. Cultural dialogue Speaking at the opening, Rashid Al Khalifa said the exhibition was an opportunity to connect Bahrain's spirit with global audiences. 'I'm delighted to present my work in a city like Berlin, known for its cultural openness and love of contemporary art. This exhibition presents a unique opportunity to connect the Gulf with international audiences and share an artistic message that reflects Bahrain's spirit, history, and growth,' he said. He added that he hopes the exhibition helps Bahraini art gain more global recognition. Berlin's cultural canvas Set in a multicultural quarter of Berlin, QGallery provides an apt backdrop for the show. The location is surrounded by signs of Middle Eastern life, from markets to traditional food and fabrics, offering an organic context for the exhibition's themes. Art historian and independent curator Cornelia Lauf praised the artist's material sophistication and the way his work fits into real-life, lived culture. 'Sheikh Rashid's work looks great in all kinds of contexts, as it's a material work of the mind,' she noted. With Quintessence, Rashid Al Khalifa not only brings Bahraini aesthetics to a global audience but also repositions the Kingdom's cultural identity in the heart of Europe's art capital.

Bahrain, Qatar Discuss Fast-Tracking 40KM Causeway
His Excellency Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment to strengthening its historic ties and strategic developmental partnership with the State of Qatar. The focus is on enhancing cooperation in land, sea, and air connectivity, as well as logistics services, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar. This came during an official meeting at the Ministry headquarters with H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani, Qatar's Minister of Transport, and his accompanying delegation. The visit aimed to explore avenues for economic and investment collaboration and to exchange technical and operational expertise in areas such as land transport, railways, maritime navigation, and civil aviation. Dr. Al Khalifa emphasized Bahrain's pride in its growing partnership with Qatar under the royal vision and the government's guidance, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The projects are also expected to create new job opportunities and reinforce the socio-economic and cultural bonds between the two nations. The ministers also reviewed practical steps to accelerate the implementation of these connectivity projects, improve related infrastructure and logistics services, and establish joint working teams to ensure progress aligns with global best practices. They expressed hope that these strategic projects would contribute significantly to GCC economic integration, complementing the ongoing GCC railway project expected to be completed by 2030. Dr. Al Khalifa reaffirmed Bahrain's readiness to provide the necessary infrastructure for the success of land and maritime links and to further develop logistics services in alignment with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030. He emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in achieving shared development goals. Qatar's Minister of Transport, H.E. QF gathering sheds light on role of national talent in shaping education
