Woqod posts QR460 million H1 profit, declares dividend
Tribune News Network Doha Qatar Fuel Company (Woqod), Qatar's sole distributor and marketer of refined petroleum products and gas, announced its financial results for the first half of 2025, posting a net profit of QR460 million. The results, approved by the company's board of directors chaired by Ahmed Saif Al Sulaiti, reflect Woqod's performance for the six-month period ending June 30, 2025. Listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange under the symbol 'QFLS,' Woqod operates under an exclusive concession in Qatar to distribute, sell, transport, and market refined petroleum products and gas, including to key locations such as airports and seaports. The company carries out these operations directly and through its subsidiaries — QJet, Fahes, and Woqod Marine. The net profit of QR460 million (excluding minority interests) represents a decline of QR22 million or 4.5 percent compared to the QR 482 million achieved in the same period of 2024. Correspondingly, the company's earnings per share for the period dropped slightly to QR0.46 from QR 0.48 in the first half of the previous year. The company attributed the dip in profitability primarily to a decrease in sales volume, reflecting market dynamics and seasonal trends. Despite the decline in net earnings, Woqod's board of directors has approved the distribution of interim cash dividends amounting to QR0.40 per share. The decision, in accordance with Article 47 of the Articles of Association and Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) Circular No. 5 of 2024, specifies that shareholders registered as of the close of the trading session on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, will be eligible for the dividend. The distribution process will be managed by Edaa, Qatar's securities depository. Woqod Managing Director and CEO Saad Rashid Al Muhannadi highlighted the company's continued progress in its infrastructure development initiatives. During the first half of the year, Woqod inaugurated a new fuel station, Al Naqian-2, on July 7, 2025. This addition strengthens Woqod's expansive network of service stations across Qatar, in line with its strategic vision to meet growing demand and enhance customer convenience. In support of the national drive toward sustainable mobility and environmental stewardship, Woqod, in collaboration with Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA), completed the installation of 25 electric vehicle (EV) charging points across 19 of its fuel stations. This effort is part of the company's ongoing commitment to adopting green technologies and supporting the country's sustainability objectives as outlined in Qatar National Vision 2030. Al Muhannadi also stated that Woqod continues to implement various initiatives aimed at boosting non-fuel revenue streams. These efforts are designed to diversify the company's income sources and improve overall profitability amid evolving market conditions. In his concluding remarks, Al Muhannadi reaffirmed Woqod Group's dedication to delivering long-term value to shareholders and stakeholders. He emphasized the company's continued alignment with the State's modernization and economic development policies, particularly in strengthening the downstream oil andgas sector. He added that Woqod will continue to prioritize the safety and security of its operations and workforce, ensuring business continuity and operational resilience in a rapidly changing energy landscape. With a strong operational foundation and a clear strategic direction, Woqod remains committed to maintaining its leadership role in Qatar's energy distribution sector while embracing innovation and sustainability.
