Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury told to agree certain terms before mega-fight

Joshua and Fury have been told to agree terms for their respective tune-up fights before they face off in a mega all-British heavyweight clash next year Saudi boxing supremo Turki Alalshikh is plotting an all-British showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury next year - but both heavyweights must get through warm-up bouts first. ‌ Joshua hasn't stepped into the ring since Daniel Dubois delivered a devastating knockout blow last September at Wembley, scuppering his bid to become a three-time world champion. Although the pair appeared poised for an instant rematch, 'AJ' required additional recovery time following an injury sustained during their original clash. The 35-year-old has subsequently undergone elbow surgery and is eyeing a comeback before the end of the year. ‌ Meanwhile, Fury hung up his gloves earlier this year after consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk last year. However, he has since performed a drastic U-turn and is seemingly set to fight again. During a recent appearance on 'The Boxing Voice,' Alalshikh is eager to make the dust-up between the British heavyweights. ‌ Speaking on 'The Boxing Voice', Alalshikh expressed his determination to make the clash between the pair. The two stars have exchanged verbal jabs over the years, but are yet to resolve their rivalry inside the ring. While the Saudi boxing chief admits they are trying to host the fight in 2026 - both men would need to get through tune-up fights first. "Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury next year, we are trying to do it and we are thinking about it," he revealed. "Why? Because they are both coming off losses. It's to build it up." Fury has been teasing fans with the prospect of a boxing comeback, regularly posting training updates on his social media platforms. Earlier this month, Alalshikh confirmed the two-time heavyweight champion's return on X, previously known as Twitter. He excitedly announced: "The 'Gypsy King' will be back! ! ! I talked with him, and I have his word to have him in Riyadh Season in 2026... We have a rabbit to hunt!" ‌ Watch Usyk vs Dubois 2 live on DAZN This article contains affiliate links, we will receive a commission on any sales we generate from it. Shortly after, Fury himself declared he would take on Usyk for a third bout, even specifying the date and venue. On Instagram, Fury posted a fight poster featuring himself and Usyk, captioning it: "April 18, 2026 Wembley Stadium. The trilogy! UK. contact @spencerbrownmrgoldstar for tickets." Frank Warren, Fury's promoter, has also spoken about the fighter's future, suggesting a U-turn on retirement plans. Speaking to talkSPORT, Warren mentioned: "He's been talking about it a little bit. Some calls took place and there's an agreement made, that's all I can tell you at the moment." ‌ The 73-year-old added: "He has retired, up until he said he was coming back. Look, Frank Sinatra retired a lot. Like I've said to you before if that's how [Tyson] feels in the moment, that's how he feels. We'll see what happens, but he feels he wants it fight Usyk again." When is Anthony Joshua's next fight? Joshua is expected to make his return to the ring before the end of the year. Eddie Hearn has recently revealed that 'AJ' is now looking to move on with his career after continuously calling for a fight with Fury, but still hopes to one day settle the score with the 'Gypsy King' before calling it a day. In an interview with Sky Sports, when asked about the future of Joshua, Hearn replied: "Yeah, good, he had that operation recently... that elbow surgery, which went very well. You will see him return in October, November or December. We're looking for that opponent in the top ten. Deontay Wilder I think fights next week. "I know he is a name that has been mentioned. For AJ, like I said, 2026 I think could be his last year in the sport and it seemed to get headlined, but what else do you expect? That is three or four fights away. He cannot go on forever! He is motivated. Physically feeling good now to return to camp and ready for one little last roll to this incredible career. "Hopefully that involves a fight with Mr (Tyson) Fury. But after he is done parading his kilt around on Netflix, hopefully he joins us in the ring in 2026. It would be an incredible occasion for British boxing. But first thing is first, AJ will return during that period this year and obviously he must win and that performance will tell us a lot about the future of Anthony Joshua."

Dana White rubbishes claims he is no longer involved in Alvarez-Crawford

UFC head Dana White is once again promoting the upcoming boxing match between Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Terence Crawford. White was originally set to promote the fight when it was slated to be in Las Vegas on 12 September. However, a statement on The Ring 's website two weeks after the initial announcement said that the fight would be promoted instead by Saudi firm Sela and not White's TKO Boxing. Now, White says that he is once again promoting the bout. White said in a press conference following UFC 316 that there was a lot of 'f***ed up things about boxing'. He added: 'I'm promoting the fight.' However, White also confirmed that he had not spoken with Alalshikh in some time but added that things were 'good' between them. He added: 'Listen, we're at work at UFC headquarters. I'm in my own little world, man. I don't pay attention not any of that shit. I know what's going on. I know what we're doing. And I don't really pay attention to that stuff. It doesn't matter to me.' White went on: 'I don't even remember the last time I talked to [ Alalshikh ], but we're good. It's very good. We're very good.' The match between Alvarez and Crawford, thought to be the top two pound-for-pound fighters in boxing, has been dogged with changes since it was first announced. Long moving towards each other, the fight between Alvarez and Crawford moved into full visibility following the former's victory over the Cuban William Scull in May. Originally planned for Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on 12 September, the fight between Alvarez and Crawford has been moved to a day later, causing a conflict with a planned football game at the same venue. In light of this, Turki Alalshikh then said that the promotion was looking at five venues in three different US cities for the bout. Yesterday afternoon, the fight was finally confirmed for 13 September in Las Vegas, although the precise venue has yet to be named.

Canelo Alvarez to fight Terence Crawford in Las Vegas in September

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez will take on Terence Crawford in a Las Vegas super-fight on September 13 – with UFC president Dana White announced as the bout's co-promoter. A September showdown had been pencilled in as the pair faced off following Alvarez's lacklustre points win over William Scull last month to retain his WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO super-middleweight titles. The date has now been firmed up, with former two-weight undisputed world champion Crawford, who has won all 41 professional contests, set to move up two divisions from light-middleweight to take on Alvarez. It has been dubbed the 'fight of the century' by chairman of Saudi Arabia's general entertainment authority Turki Alalshikh, who will promote the clash in collaboration with White. 'Turki wants to make the biggest fights that the fans want to see in boxing and this is right up my alley,' said White of a bout that is expected to land at the 65,000-seater Allegiant Stadium. 'Are you kidding me that the first boxing fight I'm going to get to promote is Canelo vs Crawford? It's literally a once in a lifetime fight.' It was also announced that Alvarez-Crawford will be broadcast globally by Netflix at no additional cost to its 300 million-plus subscribers. 'My perfect record speaks for itself,' Crawford said. 'I am the best fighter in the world and no matter the opponent or weight class, I have always come out on top. 'On September 13, my hand will be raised once again as the world watches greatness.' Alvarez, who has won 63 and drawn two of his 67 bouts in the paid ranks and been undisputed at 168lbs since 2021, said: 'I'm ready to show once again that I am the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.'
