During the weekend, the film showed bumper growth amid significant buzz, collecting Rs 35.75 crore on Sunday. On Monday, the film earned Rs 24 crore and went on to show growth on Tuesday, with Rs 25 crore. Taking today's numbers into account, Saiyaara has now added up to Rs 149 crore in 6 days of release. Saiyaara has now surpassed the lifetime collection of Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar, which was at Rs 147.28 crore. It now looks set to beat the lifetime collections of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani at Rs 153.55 crore. Saiyaara chronicles the love story that develops between an aspiring musician Krish Kapoor (Ahaan) and a shy journalist Vaani (Aneet Padda). She supports him to follow his dreams even as an unexpected revelation threatens to break them apart. The film received immense love from Bollywood stars as well as fans. From Alam Khan to Rumi Harish, new book 'The Call of Music' documents stories of eight Hindustani musicians
NEW DELHI: From sarod virtuoso Alam Khan, son of the late legend Ali Akbar Khan, to musician and queer transmasculine activist Rumi Harish, "The Call of Music" explores the journeys of eight distinctive voices in Hindustani music -- ranging from acclaimed performers to unsung torchbearers. Written by Hindustani vocalist Priya Purushothaman, the book explores the personal journeys of dedicated music practitioners, offering readers a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process of music-making while also shedding light on the pervasive influence of social class within the realm of classical music. It is published by Hachette India. "I wondered about all the stories I wouldn't get to hear or read, out of sheer lack of access or documentation. This compelled me to seek these individuals and see if they would give me the privilege of sharing a slice of their lives, coming together as something akin to an ethnographic survey of select Hindustani musicians in the twenty-first century," Purushothaman, who also authored "Living Music: Conversations with Pandit Dinkar Kaikini", said in a statement. From the narrow lanes of Kashipur to the sweeping hills of San Rafael, the artists profiled in the book emerge from vastly different worlds. Yet, each has devoted their life to music with "unflinching conviction and artistic courage".

Father of two shot dead resisting robbery
In a brazen daylight robbery in Gulshan-e-Hadeed on Monday, three motorcycle-borne assailants ambushed 28-year-old Alam Khan and his two companions moments after they withdrew Rs890,000 from a bank. They then shot Khan dead. According to eyewitnesses, the bandits intercepted Khan's vehicle, demanded the cash at gunpoint, and opened fire when he resisted, killing him instantly, while his companions miraculously escaped unharmed. The perpetrators then fled with both the cash and Khan's licensed pistol. The deceased's body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). Rahmat Jan Mahsood, cousin of the deceased, revealed that Khan was a father of two, and was running his own car business. He had recently purchased a car from a Gulshan-e-Hadeed resident whom he was heading to pay when he was ambushed. Expressing concerns about the city's safety, Rahmat said "People are being forced to sacrifice their lives for their own money." He alleged that the bandits likely had inside information about Khan carrying money, possibly from associates near the bank. Khan's relatives demand an investigation into the incident, appealing for the swift arrest of the killers. With this incident, the number of citizens killed resisting robberies in the city this year hit 30. Khan's killing sparked immediate protests, with family members, local residents, and car showroom owners blocking both tracks of the national highway, causing traffic congestion on the Karachi-Thatta road. To alleviate the situation, traffic police diverted traffic from Port Qasim and Link Road to the inner areas. The protest, which lasted for more than five hours, not only brought the traffic system to a standstill but also caused massive traffic jams, putting commuters in a nerve-wracking situation. Several citizens trapped in the severe traffic congestion said that a day earlier, on Sunday evening, a large number of area residents had also staged a demonstration against the rising incidents of street crimes and the poor performance of the police. During that protest as well, both tracks of the National Highway were blocked, causing serious difficulties for the general public. "On one hand, citizens are being robbed at gunpoint, and on the other, they are losing their lives to the robbers' bullets," lamented one protester. The protest over the car showroom owner's killing by robbers was finally called off by the demonstrators at 7:45pm, after which traffic was restored.

Pakistan holds funeral prayers for 12 victims of double suicide bombing near military base in Bannu
PESHAWAR: Schools and shops closed as residents of a northwestern Pakistani city prepared for the funeral ceremonies on Wednesday for 12 people killed in a twin suicide bombing that targeted a military base the day before. A militant group linked with the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the bombing in Bannu on Tuesday evening when two suicide bombers breached the wall surrounding the base. Most of the local residents were breaking their daylong fast during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan or praying at a nearby mosque. After the explosions, other attackers stormed the compound and set off a firefight with the troops. The powerful blasts tore through walls and ripped off roofs and also severely damaged the mosque. Along with the 12 killed, 30 people were also wounded in the attack, some of whom were reported to be in critical condition. The casualty figures did not include troops. It was not immediately known how many security forces were killed or injured in the assault or the subsequent gunfight. On Wednesday, a mechanical digger was clearing away rubble where homes used to stand, and debris-covered prayer mats lay crumpled on the mosque floor. A day of mourning was being observed, said Bannu community elder Alam Khan, and joint funeral prayers were to be held for the victims at a sports complex in the area. Gunshots could still be heard early on Wednesday as security forces combed through the area, looking to clear it of any militants involved in the attack. 'All education institutions are closed,' Khan said. 'Most shops are also shut. Rescue workers have completed their operation by recovering the bodies of three deceased worshippers who were trapped under the collapsed roof of the mosque.' Bannu is located in the northwest province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that borders Afghanistan, and several armed groups are active there. A group affiliated with the Pakistani Taliban, Jaish Al-Fursan, has claimed responsibility for the attack.

A city is in mourning after a devastating twin suicide bombing claimed the lives of 12 people. The attack, which targeted a military base in northwestern Pakistan 's Bannu on Tuesday evening, occurred as residents were breaking their Ramadan fast and attending prayers at a nearby mosque. Two suicide bombers initiated the assault by breaching the base's perimeter wall, followed by a group of attackers who stormed the compound, engaging soldiers in a fierce firefight. The powerful explosions caused widespread destruction, tearing down walls, ripping off roofs, and severely damaging the mosque. Thirty people were also wounded in the attack, some critically. Casualty figures released so far do not include any military personnel, leaving the number of soldiers killed or injured unknown. On Wednesday, the city observed a day of mourning as the community grappled with the aftermath. A mechanical digger worked to clear the rubble of destroyed homes, and debris-covered prayer mats lay scattered on the mosque floor.
