Rolex-wearing drug dealer dubbed 'Albus Dumbledore' who sold 'tropical, gelato and banana' cannabis is jailed

A Rolex-wearing drug dealer who went by the name Albus Dumbledore has been jailed after he was caught by undercover police collecting cannabis in an Aldi bag. Jacob Flavin, 29, used the Harry Potter-inspired handle to advertise and sell large quantities of the class B drug on encrypted messaging service Signal. He sold varieties of cannabis known as 'Tropical', 'Gelato' and 'Banana' for between £2,800 and £3,100 a kilo, Manchester Crown Court heard. Flavin was also caught advertising a kilo of 'super skunk' for £1,000 and shared a photo of the drug being held by a latex-gloved hand in November 2023. The 29-year-old, who was part of a five-strong gang of drug dealers, was eventually snared by undercover police, Manchester Evening News has reported. He was photographed by officers, who were monitoring the group's activities, collecting an Aldi bag which was believed to be 'full' of cannabis. Flavin was arrested at his flat in Salford, Greater Manchester, where police seized a Rolex watch worth between £6,000 and £8,000. Officers also found 'price lists' for the drugs he was selling on his mobile phone, alongside a list of debtors. Police have estimated that over a seven-week period in late 2023, Flavin and the other gang members were involved in the supply of around 180kg of cannabis. It is also believed the 29-year-old drug dealer was involved in the sale of cocaine, heroin and ketamine. Flavin was jailed nine years at Manchester Crown Court after pleading guilty to four counts of conspiracy to supply cannabis, cocaine, heroin and ketamine. Judge Sarah Johnston said according to Manchester Evening News: 'So much of the suffering we see in these courts has it roots in this [drugs] trade and those who seek to profit from it.'

Send yourself straight to The Principal for tasty pub grub

Who's your favourite principal? Professor Albus Dumbledore? Miss Trunchbull? Seymour SKINNNEEEERRR! Mine might just be The Principal in Midland, a bar and restaurant partly housed in a 1901 brick and metal building that does Mediterranean-leaning pub classics and has a wee wine shop full of Swan Valley drops tucked in its nether regions. The heritage-listed venue gets its name from the fact it was once the home of the headmaster of one of Midland's oldest schools. The heritage part of this Midland pub is attractive — all high ceilings, wooden floors and wooden furniture. The extension is more like a suburban shopping centre cafe. Metal chairs squeal on the hard floor like fingernails on a blackboard. There's a nice alfresco area, although calling the beer garden that might get you clobbered by one of the locals chain-smoking outdoors under one of the large umbrellas. Credit: Supplied In the old part of the building, two long tables of work colleagues enjoyed a feed on the company slate, while couples and mates were sprinkled throughout the rest of the building. One of the two floor staff let us pick our table, the start of what was surprisingly superb and sharp service for a pub where you order at the bar. Our waiter was excellent. He knew when to hold our mains, checked in and indulged in a little banter without it getting awkward. The Principal has around a dozen mostly uninspiring wines by the glass, including piccolos of Yellow Tail. Let the Yanks drink that stuff. There are some bottles and beers from Mandoon Estate in nearby Caversham worth trying. We shared a bottle of Old Vine Grenache that was brilliant value. It's well worth popping into the teeny wine shop to find something. The Principal Bar & Restaurant main dish. Credit: Simon Collins Part of the reason why we sent ourselves to The Principal was because Plating Up WA runs throughout June. The Midland pub is among 45 local venues showcasing local produce, in their case big, juicy Shark Bay scallops in the half shell, baked with lemon-zested chorizo and chimichurri, with a garden salad for $25. As we savoured these delicious morsels fashioned by head chef Ken Enriquez, Aussie singer-songwriter Alex Lloyd's big hit Amazing played over the venue's sound-system. 'Food was amazing,' I hummed as I licked the shell (surely, such behaviour would earn me a dozen tastes of the cane back in Mr Hand's days). Our other starter was the Tennessee wings ($18), four Pluck-a-Duck-sized crispy AF chook wings offering subtle-to-no spice served with a jalapeno mayo. These were greasy finger lickin' good but nothing fancy. One of The Principal's most popular dishes is the pork and prawn salad ($26), a substantial bowl of pork belly and tiger prawns on a salad of baby spinach, cabbage, julienned carrot, sliced radish, mint and coriander, sprinkled in sesame seeds and fried shallots, and drizzled in Thai nam jim dressing. While I can see why this is top of the class, the pork belly lets the dish down — it had no crunch. Make that pork crackle and this is an A-plus lunchtime offering. The Principal Bar & Restaurant Steak Sandwich. Credit: Simon Collins The Principal is not a finalist in this year's coveted WA's Best Steak Sandwich competition, run by the Australian Hotels Association, but they should consider entering in 2026. For a very reasonable $27, the Midland pub plates up a 150g porterhouse steak smothered in tomato and capsicum relish, caramelised onion and melted cheddar cheese in a charred Turkish panini, with well-salted golden flat-cut chips and tomato sauce. There was nothing too funky here. Chef clearly sticks to the curriculum. The sandwich was fangable, that is, easily bitten through without dragging the steak out with half the accompaniments, leaving you with a bread roll. Like most of menu, the price is right and the food is good. Quick note: when we arrived, they did not have our booking. This is the second time that has happened recently, both times with the same Sydney-based mobile app. Please get in touch if you've had a similar experience. This is not a destination dining experience, unless you live in Midland. If that's the case, then being sent to The Principal might just be the best thing that happens to your day. Visit the wine shop bursting with decent Swan Valley drops and avoid the by-the-glass options. If Alex Lloyd starts playing, I'm sorry. 13.5/20

Iconic Hollywood star tipped to play villainous Voldemort in HBO's much-anticipated Harry Potter series - after the actors playing Harry, Hermione and Ron were revealed

One iconic Hollywood actor has been tipped to play Voldemort in the upcoming HBO remake of JK Rowling 's Harry Potter. Film-lovers were sent into a frenzy earlier this week as the trio of child actors set to appear as Harry, Ron and Hermione were at last revealed after months of waiting. Directors of the much-anticipated series trawled through more than 32,000 audition tapes before deciding on the lucky three - Dominic Laughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The announcement came after other members of the cast were revealed months earlier, with Paapa Essiedu in-line to play Severus Snape and John Lithgow as Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore. Now, with the cast edging closer to completion, Potter lovers are waiting patiently to find out who will play the remaining characters - including Voldemort, the franchise's dark wizard. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Ralph Fiennes was cast as the villain in the original eight Potter movies and played the dark lord sublimely. This time around however, a household name in the film industry is the bookies' favourite for the role. Leading early predictions is none other than British actor Tom Hiddleston, according to industry experts at OLBG (Online Betting Guide). The 44-year-old is currently placed at 1/1 in the guide's odds, ahead of Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy (6/4) in second and Paul Bettany (3/1) in third. While former Voldemort Ralph (5/1) sits in fourth just in front of Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch (6/1). However a return for any actor who featured in the original films seems increasingly unlikely given not a single one has yet been announced. While stars such as Robbie Coltrane, Richard Harris, Dame Maggie Smith and Alan Rickman passed away since they starred in Potter, a very public feud between JK Rowling, 59, and the movie's three main stars made certain they would not be returning. Film-lovers' hopes of seeing Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint back at Hogwarts were all but crushed after the trio spoke out against the author over her views on trans rights in 2020. Rowling had stated her belief that women are defined by their biological sex and not their gender identity. The author later insisted she would never forgive the Harry Potter stars, with Rowling again taking aim at them just last month. Replying to a tweet asking: 'What actor/ actress instantly ruins a movie for you?', she wrote: 'Three guesses. Sorry, but that was irresistible.' But while cast members of the films have publicly criticised the books' author, HBO have backed JK saying she has a 'right to express her personal views'. Earlier this week, the multi-millionaire author took to X to express her delight at the casting of her new Harry Potter (Dominic Laughlin), Hermione Granger (Arabella Stanton) and Ron Weasley (Alastair Stout). Responding to a fan on X asking how she felt about the appointments, she penned: 'All three wonderful. I couldn't be happier.' The three new leads are expected to start filming this summer after being chosen from more than 32,000 audition tapes from across the UK and Ireland. The new adaptation will be spread across seven seasons, equal to the number of books - although there were eight films with the final Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows split into two parts. The HBO TV show is said to be costing £75million per episode - and the three child actors taking the lead roles have been tipped to land themselves even bigger fortunes than the original stars. Producers Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod praised the 'wonderful' talent of the three newcomers, when making Tuesday's casting announcement. They said: 'After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. 'The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. 'We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It's been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.'
