Barcelona star makes transfer stance clear amid summer exit rumors

Barcelona defender Gerard Martin has broken his silence on rumors linking him with a move away from Camp Nou. The 23-year-old, who featured regularly last season, has made it clear he's staying put — and has no plans to pack his bags this summer. Martin played 42 matches in the 2024-25 campaign, including eight in the Champions League. He finished the season with one goal and six assists, showing his ability to support the attack. Still, with Alejandro Balde the usual starter at left-back, talk grew over Martin possibly seeking more game time elsewhere. Several clubs have reportedly shown interest, but Martin isn't listening to the gossip. And fans hoping for a full-back shuffle might want to cool their jets. 📲 Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp What Gerard Martin said on Barcelona future? Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, the Spaniard was clear and calm. 'I don't know if those stories are true. If they were, someone would have told me by now. I'm happy at Barcelona. I don't want to go anywhere. As long as the coach and the club trust me, I can't ask for more.' Martin added that working closely with the coaching staff has boosted his confidence. 'The coach trusts me, and that helps a lot. We've done video analysis together, and in training, he pushes me to give my best. During games, he asks me to be myself and stay focused.' He also gave an update on his recovery after undergoing hand surgery earlier this summer. 'I'm fine now. I was in a cast for three weeks, and at first I was a little worse, but I'm better now, ready to train on Monday and do whatever else I need to do.' With Barcelona heading to Asia for pre-season, Martin is set to join the squad and compete once again for his spot. While Balde may be the top pick, the race for minutes is far from over. Expect Martin to stay in the mix — and possibly shake things up at left-back. Barcelona stars Gavi, Balde & more send messages to departing teammate

Several members of the first-team ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona have taken to social media this week, to send messages of well wishes to now-former teammate Ansu Fati. This, of course, comes after the 22-year-old finally sealed his long-awaited latest departure from the Camp Nou. Advertisement Following another hugely underwhelming campaign all told in 2024/25, wide-man Ansu had for some time now been expected to take his talents elsewhere for the season ahead. In turn, it came as little surprise when, on Tuesday, confirmation of as much was forthcoming online. The Spaniard has made the move to Ligue 1, to line out for AS Monaco on loan for the 2025/26 term. And as alluded to above, a number of leading members of Hansi Flick's squad have since taken to social media, to respond to their teammate's exit. Alejandro Balde, for one, posted to his official Instagram account, wishing Ansu 'good luck' at the Stade Louis II: Ronald Araújo then followed suit with a message of his own, writing: Advertisement 'Let's go all out, man, you're the best.' And adding his name to Ansu's list of well wishers a short time later was close friend Gavi, who wrote on Instagram: 'Love you, brother' Conor Laird – GSFN

Alejandro Balde. Advertisement The name of wide-man Nico has of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya's capital across the day to date. This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the 22-year-old has agreed on the personal terms of a contract with Hansi Flick's Barcelona. It is now up to the Camp Nou brass to activate Nico's Athletic Club release clause. And as alluded to above, one current member of Hansi Flick's squad who appears to be very much happy that his fellow countryman's proposed Blaugrana switch is moving in the right direction is Alejandro Balde. Huge Injury Update Ahead Of Inter Milan Vs Barcelona Showdown: Ex Bayern Munich Superstar Called Up, Spain International Out

Huge Injury Update Ahead Of Inter Milan Vs Barcelona Showdown: Ex Bayern Munich Superstar Called Up, Spain International Out Robert Lewandowski has been called up for the Barcelona squad to face Inter Milan, while Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde are out. The Blaugranas have released their official squad list for the Champions League semifinal second leg. Lewandowski's name is certainly the most notable inclusion, whilst Balde's absence is a blow. Advertisement Barcelona travel to Inter to take on Inter Milan in an all-important Champions League semifinal second leg tomorrow. The first leg last Wednesday was a thrilling 3-3 draw. That has set up a marquee second leg in which both sides will feel they have every chance of reaching the final. Therefore, the fitness of key players will be all-important. In the case of Inter, the news looks to be positive. Reports today indicate that both Lautaro Martinez and Benjamin Pavard will be able to start. For Barcelona, meanwhile, the news looks to be a little more mixed. (Photo by) The big piece of positive news for Barcelona is that 36-year-old former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski is in the squad. Advertisement The Pole will be in a matchday squad for the first time since he picked up a muscle injury during Barcelona's La Liga clash with Celta Vigo last month. Lewandowski had missed the first leg against Inter. It remains to be seen what Lewandowski's exact condition will be. Reports suggest that the Polish international will not be ready to start tomorrow's match. Nevertheless, having the 36-year-old available at all certainly represents a major boost. On the other hand, Barcelona will be without left-back Alejandro Balde. Balde had already missed the first leg on Wednesday. And he had done all he could to get back to fitness for tomorrow's leg. However, the 21-year-old Spanish international has not recovered in time. Therefore, he has not even travelled with the Blaugranas squad.

Barcelona star's brother responds to Spain squad snub

The brother of Barcelona star Alejandro Balde has on Monday taken to social media, to provide his response to the latest Spanish national team squad announcement. This comes after Balde was left out once again by La Roja boss Luis de la Fuente. Spain are primed to return to competitive action early next month, in a highly-anticipated Nations League semi-final meeting with Didier Deschamps' France. Ahead of what is expected to be a challenging outing for the reigning European champions, the aforementioned De la Fuente and his staff therefore unveiled a strong panel of players earlier today. This included no fewer than six Barcelona stars. As alluded to above, though, this Blaugrana contingent did not include first-choice left-back Alejandro Balde. And such news, evidently, has not gone down well with the defender's family… This comes with Balde's brother, Edi, having taken to his official Instagram account on Monday, to unveil a post featuring little more than a photo of his sibling, and a yawning emoji: 📲 | Alejandro Balde's brother Edi Balde on IG:Balde was not called up by Spain 🇪🇸❌ — BarçaTimes (@BarcaTimes) May 26, 2025 Conor Laird – GSFN
