A woman was left with a bitter taste in her mouth after ordering a luxurious pink cake for her birthday and instead receiving an 'ugly' dessert that looked nothing like what she had paid for. Alexandra Tobie, from Cape Town, shelled out for a personalised pink sparkly cake to mark her special 21st birthday. But when she revealed the very different-looking gateau she had received, people were left reeling and said it looked like 'vomit'. The pudding she asked for was heart-shaped with hot pink piped icing, topped with premium edible glitter. The cake was bordered with black and white photos - tailored and personalised to the person being celebrated. However, Alexandra revealed on TikTok that the cake she received was unrecognisable compared to the promotional photos from the bakery - leaving her lost for words. In a clip posted to the social media platform, Alexandra shared a promotional video of the cake she ordered, which featured the words 'That Girl Since '03' neatly piped onto the top. Then the video promptly switched to what Alexandra actually received - a far cry from what she had ordered. Instead of a chic dessert, Alexandra received a sloppy, amateur-looking cake. While it did contain piping around its edges, it wasn't a neat job and the shape of the cake was circular rather than heart-shaped. The text on the top of the cake did indeed read: 'That Girl Since '03' - but it wasn't quite the neat writing Alexandra had expected. Instead, the text was written in messy capital letters, with bright yellow and bright blue colouring. Another feature missing from the cake Alexandra eventually received was the border of black and white photos around the outside. As a disappointed Alexandra shared a photo of her underwhelming birthday cake on TikTok, hundreds of people took the opportunity to express their bewilderment at what she had received - branding it 'ugly'. She posted the questionable dessert on her TikTok page and captioned it: 'It's so ugly omg.' British woman, Ellie, had ordered the cake from a professional baker but suspected something was wrong when she had to send her the design three times because the baker 'couldn't remember' what she wanted. The final product was was 'so bad' she couldn't even eat it, it looked nothing like her order and was covered in 'candle wax' icing and dead flowers. The young woman shared her nightmare cake to a Facebook group alongside photos of the creation. 'This was a professional baker and I had to send in the inspiration picture three times as they couldn't remember what I had wanted,' she said. She explained she had 'no words' when she got the cake, but has since gotten a full refund. It comes after a savvy mum shared her hack for creating a bakery-quality cake for just £10. UK content creator Lyre took to her TikTok account, @theleggofamily, to showcase how she created the stunning delicacy using just Victoria Sponge Cakes from the supermarket. The mother-of-one who often shares creative money saving hacks on her platform, revealed the cake can be used for any celebration and it's simple to do. For the thrifty creation, which is decorated with gold cake toppers, Lyre explained that she bought three boxes of Taste the Difference Victoria Sponge Cakes for £2 each from the supermarket using Nectar prices. She also bought vanilla cream icing, which cost £3, and gold cake toppers from Temu. The influencer also revealed she previously purchased a cake decorating kit from TikTik shop which helped her with the process, but this wasn't essential. She described her hack as: 'Budget-friendly and perfect for birthdays or any special occasion.' In the clip, which racked up more than 280,000 views, Lyre began by getting a cake stand and removing the cakes from their packaging. She sliced the curved top off each of the cakes so they could neatly be stacked on top of each other. The savvy mother then put a layer of Vanilla Buttercream-style icing in between each cake to keep them in place and to add extra filling. She then spread the icing around all of them, creating one large three-tierd structure. Next, she used an icing scraper to smooth out the icing and a piping tool to decorate the edges. Many were really impressed with the professional looking creation and rushed to the comments. One person wrote: 'Does it stay upright without any support? l can't bake at all so might give this a go!' To which Lyre replied: 'Yes!! Make sure you put it on the fridge after 1st coat of icing for one hour then do 2nd coat of icing then fridge it.' Another asked: 'So how much were the decorations ? And how long did it take you from start to finish including washing up cleaning after you ,also actually going to buy it all too, people don't think about all that.' 'To make it didn't take me long as well prolly 15-20 mins max!' Lyre said. 'But I put it in the fridge for one hour after first icing then did another icing again.' And not only have people said they 'wouldn't have paid' for the cake, but others suggested it looked like it had been made by a child. Posting on social media, Alexandra gave her followers a close-up look at the glamorous cake she had requested, as she wrote: 'What I ordered…' Alexandra had asked for a pink heart-shaped cake, with a bold black font that read 'That Girl Since '03'. The cake she had in mind featured incredibly neat piping around the edges and even had a glitter spray on it. But moments later, Alexandra shared a snap of what she actually got, which unfortunately looked nothing like she had hoped. While the cake was in fact pink, the black text was instead yellow and nowhere near as stylish. Not only this, but the cake itself wasn't the same heart shape Alexandra had asked for. And if that wasn't bad enough, the top of the cake featured a rogue blue heart, as well as a random splodge of blue icing, which appeared to be a mistake. Clearly gutted with her birthday cake, alongside a crying and broken heart emoji, Alexandra sobbed: 'It's so ugly omg.'
