Three dead and over 70 injured in football stadium disaster

Three football fans have died and more than 70 others were injured after falling from the upper stands of a stadium in Algeria during celebrations for MC Alger's league title win. The incident happened at the 64,200-capacity Stade du 5 Juillet in Algiers on Saturday, shortly after MC Alger drew 0-0 with NC Magra, securing the top-flight championship for the second year in a row. According to local reports, fans surged forward in celebration after the final whistle. A barrier on the upper tier of the stadium collapsed, causing dozens of people to fall onto the lower stands.
