Annual strategic drill of National Defence College commences in Muscat
Muscat: The activities of the annual strategic drill 'Decision Making-12', kicked off on Sunday at the National Defence College (NDC) at the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies. The drill, which lasts till 8 July, is conducted by the participants in the 12th session from the various military, security and civil entities and attended by a number of experts and advisors from the military, security departments, ministries and government units and the staff of the National Defence College. The 'Decision Making 12' drill of the NDC demonstrate the skills and knowledge acquired by the participants in the session and translates the knowledge and theoretical and academic programmes in the field of strategic studies including the modern traning techniques at the national, regional and international levels.. Rear Admiral Ali bin Abdullah Al Shidi, Commandant of the National Defence College and director of the drill reaffirmed the significance of drill and the optimal dealing with the strategic issues and events of the drill along with the implementation of the procedures and strategies the participants in the drill have acquainted with during the 12 session of the National Defence College. He said that the drill translates the academic knowledge and skills the participant in the session have acquired as part of the general syllabus of the 12 national defence course / session. The 12th drill 'Decision Making' aimed to enrich the skills and thoughts of the participants in the field of decision making at the strategic level and to analyse the key strategic issues among other goals.

National Defence College launches 9th parallel programme on ICV promotion mechanisms
Muscat: The 9th parallel programme titled 'Mechanisms for Enhancing Local Content' kicked off on Sunday at the National Defence College (NDC) under the auspices of Rear Admiral Ali bin Abdullah Al Shidi, Commandant of the NDC. Al Shidi delivered a speech in which he said that enhancing local content (in-country value) in government, security and private sectors has become a strategic necessity imposed by global challenges and changes. He added that success in achieving local added value can only be achieved through integrated policies, an integrative approach across various sectors, and continuous support for knowledge innovation, local industries, and the localisation of supply chains. A briefing was presented about the general objectives of the parallel programme, most notably highlighting the importance of enhancing ICV and its role in achieving sustainable development. The programme also highlights key national, regional and international practices and experiences in the field of enhancing local content, as well as reviewing major challenges facing the government-society partnership. The event included recommendations and initiatives that enhance ICV and guide integrated policies and practices between various sectors in line with Oman Vision 2040. The 9th parallel programme, which runs until 22 May 2025, is conducted within the framework of the NDC's national role to enhance the leadership skills and capabilities of government leaders and senior officers of the Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF).
