UAE, US explore ways to enhance cooperation
Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence, Interior, and Foreign Affairs Committee at the Federal National Council (FNC), met today in Abu Dhabi with Martina Strong, US Ambassador to the UAE. The meeting focused on strengthening the strategic partnership and cooperation between the UAE and the US, as well as enhancing parliamentary relations between the two sides. Dr. Al Nuaimi and Strong also exchanged views on key regional and international developments. Dr. Al Nuaimi emphasised the vital role that parliamentary institutions play in fostering dialogue, understanding, and communication on issues of mutual interest. He noted that parliamentary diplomacy has become an influential tool in supporting bilateral relations between nations and international organisations, helping advance cooperation across various fields. The meeting also touched on the visit of US President Donald Trump to the UAE and the broader region, highlighting the positive outcomes that reinforced cooperation, particularly in areas related to security, stability, and sustainable development. Ambassador Martina Strong expressed appreciation for the strength of US-UAE relations, affirming that the partnership continues to grow, reflecting the mutual commitment of both nations to expanding collaboration, especially in political and economic spheres.

UAE, Israel discuss parliamentary cooperation to improve regional security
The national defence and foreign affairs committees of the UAE and Israel on Wednesday held a virtual meeting, emphasising the need to adopt a "responsible political approach" in dealing with regional crises. The meeting was headed by Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Federal National Council's Defence, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee and Yuli Edelstein, Chairman of the Defence and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Israeli Knesset. Dr. Ali Al Nuaimi said security and stability in the region can only be achieved through dialogue, in a way that guarantees the rights and "dignity of all people," national news agency WAM reported. He also highlighted the pivotal role parliaments can play in strengthening communication channels and building trust among peoples, by employing the tools of parliamentary diplomacy to open new horizons for dialogue and understanding. Edelstein also expressed his appreciation for the parliamentary communication between the two sides, stressing the importance of continuing dialogue between legislative institutions in the region to achieve security and stability and confront common challenges with a spirit of responsibility and openness.

Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence, Interior, and Foreign Affairs Committee at the Federal National Council (FNC), received today in Abu Dhabi India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation between the Federal National Council and the Indian Parliament, in line with the strategic partnership between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of India. The discussions aimed to strengthen coordination and exchange of expertise on issues of mutual interest.

FNC discusses ties with Brazil and Belarus parliaments
Dr Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Committee on Defence, Interior, and Foreign Affairs in the Federal National Council (FNC), met Senator Davi Alcolumbre, President of the Senate of the Federative Republic of Brazil, on the sidelines of the 11th BRICS Parliamentary Forum held at the National Congress in Brasília. The meeting was attended by Sara Falaknaz, FNC member, and Saleh Ahmed Al Suwaidi, UAE Ambassador to Brazil. Senator Alcolumbre praised the active participation of the UAE parliamentary delegation in the forum and stressed the importance of strengthening parliamentary ties, which serve as a vital channel for broadening avenues of cooperation. He expressed appreciation for the UAE's role in promoting transparency and advancing economic development at both regional and international levels. Dr Al Nuaimi affirmed the depth of bilateral relations between the UAE and Brazil, noting the UAE considers Brazil a strategic partner across various sectors. He emphasised the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation in development projects that benefit both countries and their peoples. The two sides explored ways to deepen bilateral cooperation, highlighting promising opportunities in key sectors such as advanced technology, energy and economic investment, all contributing to broader and more sustainable strategic partnerships. During the meeting, Al Nuaimi delivered an official letter from Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council, addressed to the President of the Brazilian Senate, extending a formal invitation to visit the UAE. In a separate meeting, Al Nuaimi also held talks with Sergei Rachkov, Chairman of the Standing Commission for Foreign Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. Both parties affirmed the strength of UAE-Belarus relations and stressed the importance of enhancing parliamentary cooperation, maintaining ongoing dialogue and coordination on matters of mutual interest to strengthen shared strategic objectives and mutual interests. During the meeting, attended by FNC member Sara Falkanaz, Al Nuaimi highlighted the rapid growth of UAE-Belarus relations, noting the significant opportunities for further collaboration across sectors, stressing that the current global challenges require the establishment of effective partnerships and the adoption of flexible and innovative models for international cooperation. The UAE Parliamentary Division took part in the 11th BRICS Parliamentary Forum. Parliamentary delegations discussed climate issues, artificial intelligence, peace and security, and institutional parliamentary cooperation. During the discussion on "Parliamentary Cooperation for Responsible and Inclusive Artificial Intelligence," Sara Mohammad Falaknaz, FNC Member, stated that artificial intelligence represents a promising opportunity for achieving development and balanced growth. She emphasised that its optimal investment requires sound governance, beginning with fair and equitable legislation. She stressed that technological advancement should not come at the expense of justice, privacy, and digital sovereignty, and highlighted the importance of considering ethical and human dimensions when developing relevant legal and regulatory frameworks. She pointed out that the UAE was a pioneer in anticipating the technological future through pioneering initiatives-most notably, the appointment of the world's first Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, the launch of the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031 aimed at enhancing government performance and achieving economic excellence through AI technologies, as well as the establishment of the Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence. She concluded her speech by stressing the importance of enacting flexible and ethical legislation that keeps pace with rapid developments, supports innovation ecosystems, ensures the protection of individual and societal rights, and the need to enhance international parliamentary cooperation to exchange expertise and develop unified standards that ensure safe and inclusive digital transformation.
