Dolphins UDFA profile: WR A.J. Henning
The Miami Dolphins signed four wide receivers as undrafted free agents following the 2025 NFL Draft, including the versatile A.J. Henning. After spending three seasons at Michigan and transferring to Northwestern for two more, Henning showcased his ability to contribute as a receiver, returner, and even as a rusher. At Michigan, Henning was used sparingly on offense but excelled in the return game. As a sophomore in 2021, he fielded 29 punts, averaging 9.4 yards per return, and added seven kickoff returns, including one for a touchdown. In 2022, he returned a punt for a score and averaged 7.2 yards per return. Henning began his stint at Northwestern in 2023, and started eight games. He tallied 45 receptions for 418 yards, added 27 rushing attempts for 110 yards, and scored four receiving touchdowns along with one rushing touchdown. His 2024 senior year with the Wildcats was his most productive. He posted career highs in yards per reception (10.2) and yards per punt return (11.3). Henning also caught a career-best 59 passes for 603 yards and added four more receiving touchdowns. His efforts earned him All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors as a punt returner in 2024. After finding the end zone in four different ways during his college career, Henning's versatility could mean he's in line for a spot on the Dolphins' practice squad. Miami's receiver room is largely set with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Malik Washington, and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine penciled in as the top four. The fifth and potential sixth spots on the depth chart will be highly competitive, with Henning battling three other undrafted wideouts and 2024 seventh-round pick Tahj Washington, among others, for roster spots. Henning has a chance to make waves in training camp with his ability to generate yards after the catch and contribute as a rusher on sweeps and end-arounds. He's the type of player Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel could deploy creatively across multiple phases of the game. Henning's speed and positional versatility may prove vital in his bid for a roster spot, though stiff competition awaits for the final places in Miami's receiving corps.

Washington Women's Basketball star receives Big Ten Medal of Honor
On Thursday afternoon, the Big Ten announced the conference's annual Medal of Honor winners, which is given to a senior male and female athlete at each school to recognize their career achievements both on and off the field. Linebacker Carson Bruener was selected as the male honoree, and women's basketball star Dalayah Daniels was Washington's female recipient of the award. Daniels, a former five-star recruit and McDonald's All-American at Seattle's Garfield High School, transferred home after spending two years with the California Golden Bears and thrived under coach Tina Langley. During her final season of eligibility, Daniels averaged 12.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2 assists per game while converting on 57.5 percent of her field goals, the highest single-season percentage in program history with a minimum of 200 attempts from the field. Those numbers were good enough to earn her an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention and an opportunity in the WNBA. The 6-foot-4 forward was selected in the second round of April's WNBA draft at No. 24 overall by the Minnesota Lynx, making her Washington's first selection since 2017. "Tonight, we celebrate Dalayah Daniels," Langley said in a statement after her selection. "From the day she came home to Washington, she brought a relentless work ethic and commitment to growing as a person, athlete, teammate, and leader. The Minnesota Lynx are getting an exceptional basketball player and an even more remarkable young woman. Dalayah means so much to this program, to the University of Washington, and especially to the Seattle community that raised her. We couldn't be more proud of her and all she's becoming." However, Daniels was waived by the Lynx in early May and has not been picked up by another team.

Dolphins draft Maryland S Dante Trader Jr. in Round 5
The Miami Dolphins added another safety to their impending competition for starting spots. With the No. 155 selection in Round 5 of the 2025 NFL draft, the Dolphins picked Maryland safety Dante Trader Jr. Trader is the second Terrapins defender to land in Miami, joining his teammate Jordan Phillips, who was taken a dozen selections before the safety. Advertisement The 5'11, 196-pound defensive back doesn't have size or athleticism that jumps off the page, but he was a productive and reliable player in the collegiate ranks. Trader had five interceptions as a three-year starter at Maryland, and earned an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention in 2024. After allowing starting safeties Jevón Holland and Jordan Poyer to both reach free agency, the Dolphins signed a pair of relatively low-cost free agents, Ifeatu Melifonwu and Ashtyn Davis. That duo will compete with Trader, 2024 sixth-round pick Patrick McMorris, and special teams ace Elijah Campbell for the starting jobs in Miami.
