Jerry Jones would stand firm on his patience regarding a Micah Parsons extension on Monday afternoon ahead of the Dallas Cowboys' first day of training camp. The franchise owner made it clear that he hasn't spoken directly with Micah Parsons' representatives in quite some time. As far as urgency goes, he doesn't have any at the moment. When Parsons addressed reporters following the first day of training camp, he confirmed what Jones already told the football world. "There's really not much movement," the star pass rusher said. Read More: Dallas Cowboys Ownership Gets Critical of Trevon Diggs For the past few months, Parsons has made it clear that he wants to remain with the Cowboys long-term, and would've been willing to get a deal done much sooner to avoid any market resets. The Cowboys' decision to wait this long caused Parsons to see multiple star pass rushers earn major paydays. As a result, the Pro Bowler is discouraged. [Watt] got taken care of, Maxx [Crosby] got taken care of, Myles [Garrett] got taken care of, and he's got two years left on his deal," Parsons continued, via The Athletic. "You see a lot of people in our league getting taken care of, and you wish you had that same type of energy Parsons joined the Cowboys in 2021 as their 12th overall pick out of Penn State. From the start of his NFL career, he's been one of the best edge rushers in the game. Read More: Dallas Cowboys' Jerry Jones Makes Odd Micah Parsons Statement During his rookie season, Parsons totaled 84 tackles, with 20 going for a loss. He forced three fumbles and sacked the quarterback 13 times. Parsons was named the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2021. He was also a Pro Bowler for the first time, which is a trend that has continued throughout his career. Four years in, Parsons has four Pro Bowls and three All-Pros under his belt. Now that he's heading into the fifth and final year of his contract, the superstar defensive end wants to lock in a long-term extension like most players in his position would. So far, Jerry Jones and the Cowboys are playing hardball. Fortunately, Parsons hasn't let his words affect his actions. While he's been verbally expressing his disappointment, the veteran star has been with the team, avoiding going down the holdout path. How long will that last without a deal? Soon, the Cowboys will find out if they don't get moving on negotiations. For more Dallas Cowboys and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports

Buccaneers extend GM Jason Licht and HC Todd Bowles ahead of training camp

On Thursday, the Bucs decided they wanted to get one of the final distractions done before the team heads into training camp next month. The team announced that they had extended both General Manager Jason Licht and Head Coach Todd Bowles. The team has found steady footing under their leadership in recent years, so extensions only make sense for the team as they head into a pivotal 2025 season. Buccaneers Owner and Co-Chairman Joel Glazer released a statement through the team saying, "Jason and Todd's leadership has been critical to our organization's success. The winning culture they have established has us well positioned for the future, the continuity and stability they provide will play a large role in our ability to compete for additional championships." Since joining the team in 2014, Licht has led the team to a Super Bowl win while building several division-winning rosters. He has drafted Pro Bowlers and All-Pros, while also acquiring more talent through free agency and trades during his tenure. Bowles assumed head coaching duties after Bruce Arians retired in 2022 and has since led the Bucs to three straight NFC South division titles. He hopes to have an extended playoff run of his own in 2025, following in the footsteps of his mentor and hosting a Lombardi Trophy of his own. The extension he signed today signals the team believes he is the man to do that.

Eagles' Dallas Goedert Credits Travis Kelce For Career Impact

Eagles' Dallas Goedert Credits Travis Kelce For Career Impact originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Over the last decade, tight ends around the league have tried to connect as a way to bring popularity to the position. Advertisement One of the first players to push for that camaraderie was Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro Travis Kelce. The 2013 draft pick out of Cincinnati has been one of the best players in football with a resume that includes three Super Bowls, seven All-Pros, and a spot on the All-Decade Team for the 2010s. Kelce's impact on the tight end position cannot be overlooked. Many of the league's veterans have seen him as a mentor over the course of their careers. That was the case for Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert. The former second-round pick out of South Dakota State doesn't have the kind of numbers or awards that Kelce has earned, but he's been pretty effective in his own right. And he has quickly credited Kelce for helping him get to this point. Advertisement In an interview with Goedert explained just how vital the All-Pro has been for him. "I would wait for the defense to do something, then decide what to do after that," Goedert said. "Travis always talked about being able to put the defense in a reactionary position. He taught me how to have a purpose for what I'm doing." That mindset change has helped Goedert grow into one of the tougher matchups in the league. According to Pro Football Focus, his 11.8-yard-per-reception average last year was seventh-best in the league. At 30 years old, it's highly unlikely that Goedert will ever be able to match Kelce's impact on the field. He is entering the final year of his contract with the Eagles and has battled injuries over the last few seasons. Advertisement That doesn't mean he's jealous, though. His credit to Kelce is an important reminder of how close the tight end position has gotten around the league. They all look out for each other in more ways than one. In Goedert's case, Kelce helped him by changing his mindset on the field. The Philly veteran can use that assistance from now on as he tries to help the Eagles win another Super Bowl. NFL experts agree on bold Mykel Williams prediction

NFL experts agree on bold Mykel Williams prediction San Francisco 49ers rookie first-round draft pick Mykel Williams enters his first season in the NFL with high expectations. Williams never recorded more than five sacks during one season with the Georgia Bulldogs, but that did not stop the 49ers from drafting Williams with the No. 11 pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Williams has a chance to immediately start for a San Francisco defense that features All-Pros like linebacker Fred Warner and defensive end Nick Bosa. Williams' ability to stop the run gives him a low floor in the NFL as long as he can stay healthy. Williams was limited for a significant portion of his junior season at Georgia because of an ankle injury. He entered the 2024 college football season as a potential No. 1 pick, so the 49ers may have gotten one of the steals of the draft. Quite a few NFL experts love how Williams fits in with San Francisco. NFL experts are predicting Williams to win defensive rookie of the year ESPN's Stephania Bell predicts that Williams will win the defensive rookie of the year award. Several of Bell's colleagues at ESPN agree with her. "(The 49ers) knew they needed to improve their run defense, and their selection of Williams in the first round confirmed that commitment," Bell said. "His ability to set the edge is going to be fun to watch opposite of Nick Bosa. Returning defensive coordinator Robert Saleh has to be excited about molding the talented rookie into a perennial elite defender." Williams may not produce a ton of sacks as a rookie, but he'll certainly have the opportunity to face a single blocker frequently with Nick Bosa lined up on the other side of the formation. Pamela Maldonado, Ben Solak and Lindsey Thiry all agree with Bell and have Williams as their early pick for defensive rookie of the year. Only New York Giants rookie Adbul Carter received more support to be defensive rookie of the year than Williams. Williams is fresh off signing a four-year, $25 million rookie contract and is eager to prove himself at the NFL level.
