All India Institute of Ayurveda commemorates 11th International Day of Yoga with great enthusiasm
New Delhi [India], June 21 (ANI): The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Delhi, under the aegis of the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, commemorated the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) with great enthusiasm and participation at Kendriya Vidyalaya, NTPC, New Delhi Themed 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health,' the event was titled Yoga Sangam, symbolizing the unifying power of yoga for holistic well-being, a press release said. Hitesh Shankar, current editor-in-chief of Panchjanya was the Chief Guest; Akhileshwar Jha, Principal K V School was the special Guest for the celebrations. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Manjusha Rajagopala. Director I/C AIIA; Prof (Dr) Mahesh Vyas, Dean Ph.D; Prof.(Dr.) Yogesh Badwe, Dean PG; Dr M M Rao, M.S, AIIA; Dr Shiv Kr. Harti, HoD Swasthavritta & Yoga Dept and others. The Departments of Swasthavritta and Yoga formally launched a book titled Management of Non-Communicable Diseases through Yoga and Diet. This significant publication underscores the integrative approach of Yoga and Ayurveda in addressing the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) through therapeutic yoga and diet. The book serves as a valuable resource for healthcare professionals, researchers, scholars, and the general public, aiming to promote evidence-based lifestyle modifications for holistic well-being. AIIA, Delhi, formally inaugurated a Yoga Park on Saturday. This dedicated space has been established to promote the regular practice of yoga & to encourage a holistic approach to health and well-being among scholars, staff, and the wider community. Around 2000 people joined PM Modi through live session from Vishakhapatnam and Common Yoga Protocol at Kendriya Vidhyala NTPC campus. In another event, the All India Institute of Ayurveda along with Supreme Court of India organised a special yoga session at the premises of the Supreme Court today. Chief Justice of India B R Gavai and Judges of the Supreme Court along with the Director (I/C) AIIA Prof. (Dr.) Manjusha Rajagopala and AIIA staff participated the event. The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, commemorated the International Day of Yoga (IDY) with great enthusiasm and participation at the Indoor Stadium, Sports Authority of Goa Complex, Peddem, Mapusa along with hundreds of participants. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr Geeta Suresh Nagvenkar, Executive Director, Sports Authority of Goa. The session was presided over by Prof. Dr Sujata Kadam, Dean, AIIA Goa. As part of the Ministry of Ayush's 10 Signature Events initiative, AIIA has organised a vibrant series of yoga-focused programmes across its Delhi and Goa campuses. (ANI)

All India Institute of Ayurveda to host Iyengar Yoga Workshop under Yoga Samavesh as part of International Yoga Day celebrations
New Delhi [India], June 8 (ANI): As part of the International Day of Yoga 2025 celebrations, the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) is set to organise a special three-day Iyengar Yoga Workshop under the inclusive theme of Yoga Samavesh. The workshop will be held from June 9 to 11, between 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM daily, according to the Ministry of AYUSH. The sessions will be led by renowned Iyengar Yoga teacher Amit Sharma from Lifeyoga Centre, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The workshop will focus on precision in body alignment techniques and enhancing mental wellness, hallmarks of the Iyengar Yoga tradition. Participation is open to scholars and yoga enthusiasts affiliated with AIIA. While highlighting the significance of Yoga Samavesh and the workshop, Prof Manjusha Rajagopala Director, AIIA mentioned that 'Through Yoga Samavesh, AIIA is committed to making yoga accessible to all. This Iyengar Yoga workshop will offer participants the opportunity to experience the therapeutic depth of yoga through structured alignment and mindful discipline.' The initiative underscores AIIA's continuous efforts to promote holistic wellness through authentic and inclusive yoga practices in the run-up to the International Day of Yoga on June 21. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to mark celebrations for the International Yoga Day, scheduled to be celebrated on June 21 in Andhra Pradesh. Earlier, in a post on X, the Prime Minister expressed happiness at witnessing people's enthusiasm ahead of the Yoga Day celebrations and said that 'Yogandhra 2025' was a commendable effort to popularise the ancient practice. 'Gladdening to see enthusiasm building up towards Yoga Day 2025. #Yogandhra2025 is a commendable effort by the people of AP to make Yoga popular. I look forward to marking Yoga Day in AP on the 21st,' PM Modi said. 'I call upon all of you to mark Yoga Day and also make Yoga a regular part of your lives,' he added. The Prime Minister was responding to a post by Union Minister of State (MoS) Health Prataprao Jadhav, who posted on X, 'Over 2,000 yoga enthusiasts gathered at the majestic Puligundu Twin Hills near Chittoor for Yogandhra 2025, a powerful and peaceful kickoff to Andhra Pradesh's month-long lead-up to IDY2025. Surrounded by 1,000-ft rock formations, the energy was as grounded as it was uplifting.' This year's International Yoga Day is set to be a grand celebration, with Visakhapatnam hosting a record-breaking yoga event. On June 21, Prime Minister Modi will participate in the celebrations, which will feature over 2.5 lakh people performing yoga together at a single location -- an attempt to set a new world record. The grand event will take place along the 27-kilometre-long coastal road of Visakhapatnam, which will serve as the venue for this massive yoga session. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is also expected to join PM Modi for the yoga performance. (ANI)

Delhi govt plans to sponsor Ayurveda start-ups, host global summit: CM
New Delhi: Delhi government is planning to host a global Ayurveda summit and provide support to start-ups focused on the age-old Indian medicinal system, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Thursday. Addressing the All India Ayurvedic Congress here, Gupta said the way Ayurveda is getting popular at the global level, other countries look up to India for more information and the availability of Ayurvedic medicines. "I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for setting up the Ayush ministry and providing a bigger platform to Ayurveda and other related medicinal systems by formulating policies," she said. Setting up the All India Institute of Ayurveda in Delhi on the lines of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences is a big milestone, she said. "We should organise a global Ayurveda summit in Delhi that will be supported by the government. We can present the Ayurvedic system before the people from across the world at the summit," she said in his address to experts in the field of Ayurveda. She said the summit would provide an opportunity for experts and academicians associated with the Ayurvedic system to discuss new initiatives and innovations in the traditional medicinal system. She said the Delhi government plans to roll out various initiatives like sponsoring Ayurveda-based start-ups to encourage youngsters to work in this field, while promoting yoga gurus and experts to work on innovations. She also suggested the digitisation of all Ayurveda texts and knowledge. Delhi government runs 197 Ayush Centres across the city where Ayurvedic medicines are provided to people. These include 55 Ayurveda, 25 Unani and 117 homoeopathy dispensaries. Besides, there are three medical colleges and four hospitals that follow the Ayurvedic system, Gupta said. In the budget 2025-26, the Delhi government has allocated Rs 275 crore for developing alternative medicinal systems, including Rs 100 crore for Ayush, she added. Talking to the reporters on the sidelines of the event, the chief minister said Modi has taken several steps to make Ayurveda available to everyone in the country and to popularise it across the world. "We will plan a global summit on Ayurveda," she said. People tired of allopathy are returning to Ayurveda as it provides a holistic cure for diseases. It is the responsibility of the government to make Ayurveda, homoeopathy and other such medicinal systems accessible to people, she added.
