Michigan State hockey commit Dryden Allen signs deal with Flint Firebirds

Michigan State hockey received the commitment of Dryden Allen all the way back in August of 2023. The 2007-born defenseman has kept his pledge to the Spartans through the years and is nearing his arrival to East Lasning. Allen, a 6-foot-1, 190 pound left shot defenseman from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, is expected to join the Spartans for the 2026-2027 season. Before that, though, he has found a new home for junior hockey. After playing in the USHL for the Dubuque Fighting Saints last season, and the Niagara Falls Canucks prior to that, he will be heading back to Canadian junior hockey, gaining a roster spot in the Ontario Hockey League. Although playing in a Canadian junior hockey league, Allen will be staying close to his future home, signing a Standard Playing Agreement with the Flint Firebirds. It will be another good year and league for his development prior to being a Spartan after this season. ESPN proposes one last Dolphins offseason move

ESPN proposed one final offseason move for the Miami Dolphins. ESPN NFL analyst Aaron Schatz writes that the Dolphins should sign veteran free agent wide receiver Keenan Allen. The 6-foot-2, 211-pound receiver is a six-time Pro Bowler and has eclipsed the 1,000-yard receiving plateau on six occasions during his 12-year NFL career. Allen was a Pro Bowler as recently as the 2023 season when he caught 108 passes for 1,243 yards with the Los Angeles Chargers. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle give the Dolphins two excellent outside receivers, but there are questions about the slot. Right now, Miami's top slot options are the Washington "not-brothers," two low-round draft picks from a year ago. In 2024, Malik Washington had just 26 catches for 223 yards with no touchdowns, while Tahj Washington missed his entire rookie season with an undisclosed injury. That makes Miami the perfect landing spot for a seasoned veteran slot receiver like Allen. Allen is 33 but still had 70 catches for 744 yards and seven touchdowns in Chicago a season ago. He did poorly in ESPN's receiver tracking metrics last season but still got open, as indicated by his 57 open score. Hill and Waddle would give Allen a ton of room to work with underneath, giving quarterback Tua Tagovailoa a nice security blanket. - Aaron Schatz, ESPN. Another veteran pass-catcher would be a welcome sight for Tagovailoa and Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel. Mixing in Allen alongside Hill, Waddle and perhaps tight end Jonnu Smith is exciting to think about. According to Over The Cap, the Miami Dolphins still have $13.7 million in effective cap space ahead of the 2025 NFL season.

Exploring the afterlife in 'Die-Mentions: The 12 Dimensions of God'

In 'Die-Mentions: The 12 Dimensions of God,' James Allen explores life, death and the dimensions that may lie beyond our physical existence. Using scientific principles, scriptural references and personal experiences, Allen offers a vision of the soul's journey after death. The Law of Conservation of Energy One of the central themes in Allen's work is the idea that energy is neither created nor destroyed but instead transformed. This principle, known as the Law of Conservation of Energy, is a fundamental concept in physics. Allen suggests that human life energy, which is inherently linked to God's divine breath, follows the same law. 'Energy does not cease,' Allen writes. 'It simply changes form.' This foundational concept sets the stage for his exploration of the soul's journey. According to Allen, death is not an end but a transition from one state of existence to another. He draws parallels between the transformation of physical energy and the soul's movement from one dimension to another. Dimensional existence beyond the physical Building upon the concept of energy transformation, Allen discusses the idea of dimensional existence. He draws from string theory and other scientific models to suggest that our physical reality is just one layer of a far more complex universe. According to Allen, there are multiple dimensions that humans cannot perceive but are crucial to understanding the nature of existence. 'Just as a two-dimensional being cannot perceive the third dimension, we too are limited in our understanding of the higher realms,' Allen explains. He refers to various scriptural accounts, such as the Transfiguration of Jesus and the resurrection appearances, to illustrate the possibility of higher-dimensional interactions. The role of faith in perception Faith plays an important role in Allen's exploration of life beyond death. He argues that faith is not merely a belief in something unseen but a way of perceiving dimensions beyond our own. Allen proposes faith allows us to tap into higher truths and connect with the divine reality beyond our limited perception. 'Faith is the bridge between what we can see and what lies beyond our senses,' Allen writes. He suggests that spiritual awareness is a form of perception that transcends the body's physical limitations. Through faith, individuals can access the higher realms and understand the soul's eternal nature. Near-death experiences as evidence A significant portion of Allen's work is dedicated to near-death experiences (NDEs), which he sees as anecdotal evidence of life beyond death. Many people who have undergone NDEs report consistent themes: traveling through a tunnel, encountering beings of light, experiencing a life review and feeling a sense of peace and love. Allen explores these experiences as indications of a reality beyond the physical world. He writes, 'People who have experienced NDEs often describe an overwhelming sense of love and a greater understanding of their life's purpose.' These accounts, Allen argues, provide a window into the afterlife and offer insight into the nature of the soul's journey after death. By examining these experiences through a scientific and spiritual lens, Allen argues that NDEs support the idea of higher-dimensional existence and the continuity of consciousness beyond death. Communication across dimensions Another important aspect of Allen's exploration is the idea of communication across dimensions. He suggests that communication may occur telepathically in higher dimensions, bypassing the need for verbal language. This idea is rooted in scriptural accounts of divine communication, such as the Pentecost experience, where individuals understood each other through thought rather than words. Allen argues that early humans like Adam and Eve may have communicated this way. He explains, 'Telepathic communication may have been the original form of interaction between humans and the divine.' As humanity ascends higher dimensions, Allen believes that communication will increasingly move away from spoken language and into pure thought, aligning with the soul's higher-dimensional nature. The afterlife and transformation Allen's book also explores the concept of the afterlife as a transformation process. He suggests that the soul undergoes a continual evolution before and after death. This transformation is spiritual and dimensional as the soul ascends through higher levels of existence. Allen ties this idea to the biblical concept of the resurrection, suggesting that the soul's ultimate goal is to achieve a higher state of being. 'Resurrection is not just a return to life,' Allen writes. 'It is a transformation into a new form of existence.' In Allen's view, this transformation is the ultimate purpose of the soul's journey. Through this process, the soul becomes more attuned to divine energy, reaching a state of harmony with the higher dimensions. The 'New Earth' and higher realities The 'New Earth' concept is another key aspect of Allen's exploration. He interprets this biblical idea as a reference to a higher-dimensional reality where the soul will reside after death. According to Allen, the New Earth is not a physical place but a transformed state where individuals will exist as beings of light and energy. He explains, 'The New Earth is not a place, but a state of existence — a higher-dimensional reality where the soul will experience eternal life in its most complete and pure form.' This aligns with Allen's broader vision of the afterlife as a continuous spiritual growth and transformation within our final resting place. About the author James Allen is a Bible student and U.S. Air Force Honor Graduate with a B.S. in Business and Land Use Development. He has had a diverse career, including roles as a real estate broker, mortgage lender, and chief operating officer of Western International Inc. Currently, Allen is self-employed as an inventor, misting systems specialist and livestock farmer. The inspiration for 'Die-Mentions: The 12 Dimensions of God' came after the tragic death of Allen's youngest son, which led him to explore near-death experiences and compare them with biblical teachings. Allen has been married for 35 years and has three children. He enjoys racquetball, weightlifting and horseback riding in his free time. Purchase James Allen's book on Amazon.

11-year-old organist to perform at St Peter's Church Padungan opening

KUCHING: At just 11 years old, Sarawakian-Australian Kai Laird is one of the rare few in his age group to master the pipe organ, an instrument typically associated with seasoned musicians. The young organist is set to perform during the opening ceremony of the newly completed St Peter's Church in Padungan, which will be consecrated in a week-long celebration starting today until July 5. The church, poised to become one of Kuching's latest architectural and spiritual landmarks, features a custom-built Allen digital organ imported from the United States. It is on this instrument that Kai will perform several specially selected pieces over two days. He will be playing 'You Raise Me Up' by Josh Groban and 'Prière de Notre Dame' by Léon Boëllmann, today. On Tuesday, his set will include J.S. Bach's 'Toccata and Fugue' in D minor (BWV 565), 'Be Thou My Vision', and a duet performance of the 'Skye Boat Song' with his younger brother Kenzie Laird, 7, on violin. Kai began his musical journey with piano lessons at the age of three, taught by his mother. Today, he plays four instruments: the pipe organ, piano, cello, and drums. Kai Laird – Photo by Chimon Upon His parents — Robert Wallace Laird from Australia and Beverly Chan from Kuching, Sarawak — are both professional pianists and run a music studio in Australia where they also teach. 'My parents asked me if I wanted to try the pipe organ, and I said 'Okay'. When I played it at St Mary's Cathedral (Perth), I thought, 'Oh my gosh, this is so crazy',' Kai said when met by The Borneo Post. He now practises the organ twice a day for about 40 minutes, and the piano for 20 minutes. Both he and Kenzie are home-schooled, giving them the flexibility to focus on music full-time. Kai enjoys the pipe organ for its sound, versatility, and complexity. 'You can mix all the sounds, adjust them, and even play with your feet. Sometimes I get confused with the pedals or the sounds, but I can fix it afterwards. It's fun!' he said enthusiastically. He owns a digital organ built in 1982, which allows him to practise from home. He looks forward to navigating the significantly larger organ at St Peter's, made by the same company, on performance day. 'There is a lot to get used to with each organ. Some pedal boards are curved, some are flat. The number of keyboards also changes. St Peter's has four manuals, which is really cool,' he said. Kai has already performed in Malaysia, Australia, Scotland, and England, and is currently the youngest organ scholar at St Mary's Cathedral in Perth. In October, he is set to compete in his first organ competition in Sydney. In a field where young players are rare, Kai continues to build a name for himself with discipline, focus, and genuine love for the music, and may well inspire more children to explore the organ too. Josh Allen's touchdown dominance overshadows Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts ahead of 2025 season

Josh Allen is set for the 2025 NFL season after his wedding (Image via AP) Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is entering the 2025 NFL season not just with a ring on his finger, but also with a renewed sense of purpose. Fresh off his wedding to actress-singer Hailee Steinfeld, Allen is riding a wave of personal and professional momentum—and the numbers prove it. Josh Allen's dominance forces comparisons with Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks Despite falling short of the Super Bowl last season, Allen's MVP campaign silenced critics and turned heads across the league. With 3,731 passing yards, 28 touchdowns through the air, and an additional 531 rushing yards with 12 rushing TDs, Allen's performance was unmatched. Over the last three seasons, he's totaled a staggering 126 touchdowns—more than any other quarterback in that span. The stat becomes even more impressive when compared to his rivals. He's recorded 21 more total touchdowns than Jalen Hurts and has surpassed both Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow, who are tied behind him. This remarkable feat places Allen in a league of his own—even though Mahomes and Hurts have hoisted the Vince Lombardi Trophy. A new era under Joe Brady and a clear message: start fresh, dominate again Heading into training camp on July 23, the Bills are switching gears under new offensive coordinator Joe Brady. His plan is simple but disciplined: build the offense from the ground up, even with an MVP quarterback at the helm. 'You don't get to pick off where you left off, and we really don't want to,' Brady said. 'Josh embodies that, we're starting over.' The focus is on refining every detail of the playbook, which Brady says can even benefit a veteran like Allen: 'Sometimes you think you know everything... if you really humble yourself to just starting over, there's always little things you can pick up.' The Bills are betting big on Allen—and the MVP is carrying the weight of those expectations. With elite numbers and a fresh start under a new coordinator, Allen is making it clear: this season isn't about catching up to Mahomes and Hurts. It's about surpassing them.
