Doctor reveals how you are PEEING wrong with common harmful habit

To pee or not to pee - either way, you may be doing it wrong. Dr. Sara Reardon, a pelvic floor physical therapist, recently revealed what you shouldn't be doing when you pee as she issued a stark warning about how urinating incorrectly can cause poor bladder issues and even UTI s. Dr. Reardon appeared on Girls' actress Allison Williams' new podcast, Landlines, which she hosts with two of her childhood friends, Hope Kremer and Jaymie Oppenheim. On the episode, Dr. Reardon - also known as the Vagina Whisperer - shared why holding it in, or forcing yourself to pee, can lead to health issues. 'Don't push when you pee,' she told the podcast hosts. 'You need to sit and chill and just let it flow, and only go when you have the urge to go,' she explained. 'Your bladder is a muscle that pushes the pee out for you, you can just sit and chill.' 'So try not to 'just in case pee' or anxious pee or pee every time you cross a bathroom,' she continued. 'Because it causes your bladder to shrink and then you'll have to pee all the time.' She added it is normal to urinate every 'two to four hours' during the day, and up to twice a night. She said that you should be able to hold your pee for at least two hours and it should be almost clear. The PT added she's not a big fan of hovering over the toilet, recommending that people sit down when possible to urinate. Dr. Reardon, who has been working in the field for 17 years, said forcing yourself to urinate can damage the bladder and also lead to urinary tract infections. According to the National Associate for Continence, there is a best way to empty your bladder. 'Take a deep belly breath, fully relax, and be present during the process,' the website reads. Sitting in the right position is also vital to bladder health. The NAC recommends sitting up properly on the toilet, no hovering, with your knees above your hips and your palms on your knees. 'This helps to relax the pelvic floor making the process easier,' the site noted. Dr. Reardon (left) appeared on Girls' actress Allison Williams' (right) new podcast, Landlines, which she hosts with two of her childhood friends They added that sitting on a stool can help keep this position, and being relaxed will ensure you fully empty the bladder. 'You can wait on the toilet an extra minute after you've already urinated then relax and try again,' they wrote. 'Or you can get up, walk around for a bit, then sit down and try again. The most important thing is to not strain during the process.' The site also warned that forcing yourself to urinate can cause muscle confusion, as every time you go and don't allow urination to happen naturally, it retrains the muscles. 'They'll think that each time you pee, you should be activating the pelvic floor vs. relaxing it, creating more problems down the road,' the site noted. Other issues outlines were hypertonic pelvic floor issues, which could aggravate the muscles even more and lead to other conditions, like pain or overactive bladder.

Fox promoting Allison Williams to replace Laura Okmin on NFL sidelines after abrupt exit

Fox is promoting college football sideline reporter Allison Williams to Laura Okmin's NFL sideline reporter role, according to Front Office Sports. The news comes nearly one month after Okmin told the outlet that she turned down a contract extension with Fox following 23 years with the network. It's unclear which announce team Williams, who also covers MLB and college basketball for Fox, will work alongside this fall. 5 Fox Sports sideline reporter Allison Williams covering college football. In September 2021, Williams announced in a statement on Twitter that she was opting out of the college football season as a sideline reporter with ESPN because she had not received a vaccine against COVID-19, as she and her husband were trying for a second child at the time. Williams, who had been with ESPN since 2011, said she decided not to receive the COVID-19 vaccine after consulting with her doctor as well as a fertility specialist — adding that she is 'so morally and ethically not aligned with this' in a tearful Instagram video. In 2023, Williams and former producer Beth Faber, sued ESPN in a joint lawsuit, which claimed the network and its parent company Disney violated their religious beliefs for firing them for refusing to comply with the vaccine policy. 5 Allison Williams appears before a House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic hearing 'Because I Said So: Examining the Science and Impact of COVID-19 Vaccine Mandates' in Washington on July 27, 2023. Okmin said she will focus on her company, GALvanize, which trains and mentors young women entering the sports world on and off camera after her departure from Fox. The news of Williams' promotion comes after Fox reportedly locked down veteran NFL sideline reporter Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson, who hosts the 'Fox NFL Kickoff' show, to lucrative contract extensions. 5 Boise State head coach Spencer Danielson discusses the team's victory with Fox Sports reporter Allison Williams after defeating the UNLV Rebels in the Mountain West Championship at Albertsons Stadium on December 6, 2024 in Idaho. Lena Dunham Dishes on Where She Thinks the ‘Girls' Characters Would Be Now

Lena Dunham Dishes on Where She Thinks the 'Girls' Characters Would Be Now originally appeared on Parade. Actress and writer Lena Dunham is making the talk show and podcast rounds to promote her new Netflix series Too Much, loosely based on her own life with husbandLuis Felber. It marks Dunham's first major television project since Girls. The outspoken 39-year-old also gave fans insight into all things Girls—including the possibility of a revival and where she thinks the girls (and the guys) might be today. It's a hilarious take and a delightful glimpse into Dunham's wildly creative an interview with Variety, Dunham dished on where she believes the Girls characters would have landed in life. Of her own character, Hannah Horvath, she said, 'She teaches at Bard and loves raising her son. She probably has a girlfriend who's, like, a chef. And she's less obsessed with being famous. That's where I feel she would land.' Of Marnie Michaels, the character played by Get Out actress Allison Williams, Dunham offered, 'Marnie—third marriage.' She continued, referencing Jemima Kirke's character, 'Jessa is unvaccinated and lives on a boat in Croatia.' 'Shoshanna was married to, then divorced from, the mayor of New York City, and she runs an athleisure startup that's zero-waste,' Dunham quipped referencing Zosia Mamet's character Shosh. As for Hannah's ex-boyfriend Adam—expertly portrayed by Adam Driver—Dunham said, 'He's a cult theatre actor; and he's probably living in Berlin.'For Ray Ploshansky, played by Alex Karpovsky, Dunham guessed the coffee shop owner 'is still on city council and running his coffee shop—and doing better than anyone.' And it wouldn't be a Girls character roundup without Hannah's delightful buddy Elijah, played to perfection by Andrew Rannells. 'Elijah,' Dunham imagined, 'is the fourth lead on a sitcom, making a good amount of money and still looking for love in all the wrong places.' All this Girls talk has fans hoping for a reunion. Until then, Too Much—which stars Hacks funny lady Meg Stalter and The White Lotus breakout Will Sharpe—looks like the next best thing. 🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 Lena Dunham Dishes on Where She Thinks the 'Girls' Characters Would Be Now first appeared on Parade on Jul 10, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jul 10, 2025, where it first appeared.
