Trainer Joe Pride desperate for improving Rosehill track for Winter Stakes top seed Accredited
Trainer Joe Pride is cautiously optimistic Sydney's stormy skies will subside in time for top seed Accredited to lead the stable's assault of Saturday's Listed $200,000 Winter Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens. Pride could have as many as four runners in the feature event but the fate of his leading contender hinges on drying conditions in Sydney later this week. Consistent rain and damaging winds have lashed the NSW coast to start the week with Rosehill Gardens rated a Heavy 10 on Wednesday. 'We won't run Accredited if it does stay heavy but if the rain stops we could get back on a soft,' Pride said. 'I would probably run on a soft. It was an optimistic acceptance to be honest, hoping the track would improve for him. 'The horse is going super. I couldn't be happier with him and it's a shame because he is definitely a horse that is better on top of the ground. 'I am not sure we will get that on Saturday.' Accredited, a $4.80 second elect for the Winter Stakes, is a six-time winner on good tracks but scored his first victory on soft going last start when he bounced back to top form to salute over the Royal Randwick 1200m on a Soft 5. In-form hoop Alysha Collett, fresh from a double last Saturday, has been booked to ride Accredited. Accredited too strong in the last at Randwick! Nash Rawiller goes home a winner and Joe Pride goes back to back to finish the day ðŸ'° @nashhot @PrideRacing — 7HorseRacing ðŸŽ (@7horseracing) June 21, 2025 Stablemates Estadio Mestalla ($41) is already in the Winter Stakes field while Cool Jakey ($21) and Testator Silens ($41) would both need scratchings to get into the race as the third and fourth emergencies respectively. Cool Jakey, a winner of four of his eight starts on heavy ground, relishes heavy conditions with Testator Silens also more than capable on rain affected going. 'Cool Jakey and Testator Silens are both wet trackers and even Estadio Mestalla isn't too bad on it,' Pride said. 'Accredited is the worst of the horses on the ground but we have to see what the track dries out to. 'We've had less out west than in town but probably too much to dry out.' Last year's Group 2 The Ingham winner Robusto ($4.20) has opened favourite with the Bjorn Baker- trained galloper returning home after failing to beat a runner home in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm. Baker also has Thunderlips ($5.50) on the seven-day back-up following his terrific victory at the same venue last weekend.

Shayne O'Cass's Beaumont Newcastle best bets, inside mail for Monday, 30 June, 2025
Form expert Shayne O'Cass provides his best bets and race-by-race analysis for Beaumont Newcastle on Tuesday. • â– â– â– â– â– BEST BET Race 4 No.9 COSMIC EAGLE: Handed in a solid debut at Newcastle on a Heavy 8 track; additional metres suit. NEXT BEST Race 8 No.6 MY MATE KATE: Drawn well for a jockey who won on her two runs ago. Loves the wet. VALUE Race 3 No.10 SIR TUA: Has sent out some positive signs from one run to the next. Improver. BEST EXOTIC Race 3 quinella Nos. 4,10 QUADDIE Race 5: 2,3,6,8 Race 6: 2,3,5,8 Race 7: 1,8 Race 8: 6 JOCKEY TO FOLLOW In-form jockey Alysha Collett has a handy book of rides. â– â– â– â– â– IMPENDING FORTUNE (1) is among the one-percent of horses foaled each year officially registered with the Stud Book as 'black' in colour. The Colt Prosser-trained 4YO was $12 into $9.50 on debut at Port Macquarie on June 15 and ran an honourable fifth of 10 over 1108m. Extra metres will assist. ANOTHER PEACH (3) has placed at three of her four starts and was fourth at the other. Has the pace to lead here. BET: IMPENDING FORTUNE (1) each-way. TONKATSU GODDESS (4) hasn't turned in a bad one in all ten starts; in fact the majority of them were 'good' or 'very good'. This is her right trip and she gets there third-up off a last start second on a Heavy 8 at Newcastle. AGED CARE (2) has a tidy record of two wins, two seconds and a third from seven starts. Deserves credit for her determined win at Port under 60.5kg. DIVINE BENE (3) has a 66.7 per cent win/place strike-rate and 100 per cent win rate at the track. BET: TONKATSU GODDESS (4) to win. SIR TUA (10) looks like he was 'good buying', snapped up for $35,000 at Karaka in 2024. Speaking of New Zealand, Sir Tua's fifth dam is the mother of that nation's immortal, Bonecrusher! There is a bit to suggest that Sir Tua will get over a trip in time so 1350m second-up would seem to suit. Ditto that big time for SWEXAN (4), the son of Sweynesse out of a Jakkalberry mare. Closed off well on debut. Improving type. BET: SIR TUA (10) to win, quinella 4,10, box trifecta 1,4,7,10. COSMIC EAGLE (9) is from the family made famous by winemaker Wolf Blass. This Ryan/Alexiou trained filly was safe in the market when on debut at Newcastle, holding her ground throughout to finish third in a 900m Maiden. Handled the Heavy and the extra metres play to her advantage. HELL ISLAND (8) 's trials are a lot better than they read. Bred to swim. FROM THE PEAK (4) was short on debut and will have lots of admirers again. BET: COSMIC EAGLE (9) to win (best bet), HELL ISLAND (8) to place, exacta 9 to beat 8. MR CONSPIRACY (6) is bred to run two miles. Here's an interesting fact; his seventh dam is by a stallion called Friday Night. Who is he? Phar Lap's lesser known lesser no less! They won't be making movies about Mr Conspiracy but he is hammering on the door to win one of these middle distance races. FAIRHEAD (8), the one in the John Muir colours, is a half-sister to Sizzling but this one looks like she wants to 'stay'. Plenty of other chances; DUE CALZINI (3) among them. BET: MR CONSPIRACY (6) each-way. RED SPECTOR (5) was impressive when he won at Coffs Harbour back in December. Talented type, trialling well. MANAGE THE CYCLE (8) has only won four times in 41 starts but he placed on 10 occasions. He ran third twice last month, once to subsequent Highway winner Calico Miss. CHEAP GAS (3), the very cleverly named son of Santos, is building up to a peak this preparation and was an awesome winner at his only Heavy track run. BET: RED SPECTOR (5) to win, or if scratched, mange The Cycle to place. ITSZARBABY (8) has so far only managed one win and one second from her 13 starts but she has a handful of fourths and one pretty decent fifth as well so she can certainly lay claim to being one that is 'usually thereabouts'. Not that these others are all pushover here, but she probably doesn't have to do anymore than what she did at Nowra last start to win today. PRINCESS MARY (1) has a compelling first-up record and has some quite solid Highway form on the board BET: ITSZARBABY (8) to win, quinella 1,8. MY MATE KATE (6) will be ridden by Andrew Gibbons for the third time in a row. His first ride on the Your Song mare was her easy, on pace, win at Newcastle on a Heavy 8 on June 7. They paired up again at Gosford 12 days later and this time was a 'fading' fourth over the mile. That run alone suggests that she is way better off back in trip on Tuesday. Donna Grisedale has OSTRACISED (1) absolutely flying now. Drawn to advantage and loves the slop. EIGHTY EIGHT STARS (3) and GOLDEN HONOUR (4) both have claims.

Trainer Blake Ryan rapt with ‘honest' mare Lady Extreme ahead of Rosehill Gardens test
Proven performer Lady Extreme has given trainer Blake Ryan every indication she's ready to back up her slashing first-up performance at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday. Lady Extreme is one of the most consistent horses in Ryan's barn and can make it back-to-back victories in the Chandon Benchmark 78 Handicap (1200m). The daughter of Extreme Choice was an excellent first-up winner at Midway grade last month. Ryan gave her a month to get over the run and hopes it can pay significant dividends in the final event on the program. 'She was terrific first-up and is as honest as you can find a horse anywhere,' Ryan said. 'I've been really happy with her the past couple of weeks. I had her in the other week but pulled her out. 'I wasn't convinced she was ready to be back at the races but have been really happy with her this week and I am happy with her as I was first-up.' Lady Extreme swoops on them to take the Midway at Rosehill first up! ðŸ'¨ @blakeryan86 | @AlyshaCollett | @aus_turf_club — SKY Racing (@SkyRacingAU) May 31, 2025 Lady Extreme reaped the benefits of being ridden colder last start before surging late to get up. Despite drying barrier one, Ryan is eager for jockey Alysha Collett to take a similar approach. 'I don't want to be too close,' Ryan said. 'We've had the opinion all the way along to ride her like we did the other day with Alysha on her, let the speed go and have one crack at them. 'Where she had drawn in the past has forced our hand going forward and a lot of people think she is a speed horse, but she's not.' Lady Extreme's record of three wins and six placings from 10 starts has already made her a promising broodmare prospect. A win on Saturday could see Ryan attempt to make her even more valuable. 'If she happened to win on Saturday and it's half pie-in-the-sky stuff but she would be a three-time city winning mare by Extreme Choice so the only thing left to do would be to try and get black type,' he said. 'It's 17 days to the Ramornie (at Grafton) from Saturday and if she won I'd nominate her but she mightn't get enough points to get into that field.'

Lulumon bounces back with a stunning win at Royal Randwick
Lulumon burst back to her best and denied Storm The Ramparts a hat-trick of Royal Randwick 1000m sprints wins on Saturday. Storm The Ramparts, burdened with 61.5kg, led until the final stride when collared by the fast-finishing Lulumon in the Asahi Super Dry Handicap. Trainer Jason Coyle was relieved to see Lulumon rebound after a disappointing run at Rosehill last start. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'We can put a line through that second-up run now as she is heading in the right direction,' Coyle said. 'We will find an 1100m race for her as she will still get that strong tempo so she can hit the line.' Lulumon ($4.40) certainly attacked the line with real gusto to reel in a very game Storm The Ramparts ($7) right on the line to win by a nose with Hi Dubai ($6) a short head away third. Coyle said there were various reasons for Lulumon's Rosehill flop and he anticipated the mare would return to the form that saw her win at the Gosford stand-alone meeting first-up when she also ran down Storm The Ramparts. 'At Rosehill, Lulumon didn't step well, she got her head up in the air and Alysha (Collett, jockey) said the mare hated the (heavy 8) surface,' Coyle said. 'So, we got her home, we reset and gave her three weeks between runs and it has worked out well. She's back on track. 'Mares that can win on Saturday a couple of times, you know there is a nice stakes race on the horizon.' • Brave One's wide run no obstacle in Randwick triumph Collett suggested keeping Lulumon to races up to 1200m suits the talented mare. 'I know she won over further but these short trips are working out good for her because the tempo is strong and she can run over the top of them,' Collett said. Meanwhile, Stradbroke Handicap-winning jockey Tim Clark continued his winning momentum on Rotagilla in QMS Media Handicap (1600m). Hall of Fame trainer Chris Waller switched Rotagilla back in distance from 2000m two weeks ago and the three-year-old enjoyed a more solid race tempo and was powerful to the line. 'With Rotagilla coming back from 2000m I knew he was going to be strong at the back end of his race,' said Clark, who won the Stradbroke last week on War Machine. 'He quickened up well at the top of the straight and he was brave to the line.' Rotagilla ($6.50) safely held his rivals at bay to score by three-quarters of a length from Last Command ($17) with Engine Room ($16) a half length away third. Waller's stable representative Charlie Duckworth said Rotagilla was 'too aggressive' over 2000m last start (when third to Millie De Lune) and will gain confidence from his tough win over the famous Randwick mile course.
