Man Utd vs Leeds: Ruben Amorim gets clear transfer message as Matheus Cunha makes impression
MAN UTD 0-0 LEEDS: Ruben Amorim's side kicked off their pre-season campaign with a match against their old rivals in Stockholm ahead of their tour of the United States next week Manchester United kicked off their pre-season campaign with a 0-0 draw against Leeds in Stockholm with one eye on next week's tour of the United States. Ruben Amorim handed a debut to the club's marquee summer signing, Matheus Cunha, in a strong first half team and the Brazilian attacker was by far the brightest spark in a relatively dour opening 45 minutes, where he linked neatly with United's other new boy, Diego Leon, on the left-hand side. Neither team could find a breakthrough and both rang the changes at half-time with United fielding a completely new XI for the second period. It was Leeds who came closest to the opener after the break with Tom Heaton making two good saves to keep the Premier League new boys at bay with Amine Ramazani spurning a golden chance to score. United and Leeds traded blows in the second half but, as the game petered out, honours stayed even amid a flurry of late substitutes from both sides. Cunha leads from front Cunha is one of the club's two summer signings to date and he was by far the brightest spark in a dire first half showing from both teams. The former Wolves man was dynamic and was one of the few players threatening to make things happen in the final third. He started proceedings as the left-sided No 10 in Amorim's preferred system and immediately looks right at home. The Amad dilemma Amad was one of the few shining lights in a difficult campaign for Manchester United and he looked bright again in Stockholm. But where does he fit best in United's current shape? He started here as the right wing-back but swapped positions with Toby Collyer to take up the right-sided No 10 spot. The uber-talented star has the attributes to thrive further up the pitch but it will be intriguing to see where he plays with Bryan Mbeumo incoming. Amorim's wing-backs are as good as wingers at time given how high they are up the pitch. Amad has caught the eye in an attacking role in the past, though. Whatever the manager's decision, one thing is for sure: Amad should surely be on of the first names on Amorim's teamsheet this coming season. Leon's first look United's game at the Strawberry Arena gave fans an early glimpse of their new wing-back, just 18. And Leon showed why he is now set to stay and compete for a place in Amorim's team instead of Harry Amass, who is poised to head out on loan. He looked comfortable high up and pitch and crafted one chance for Chido Obi in a lacklustre first half with a neat no-look pass. Leon has obviously been signed with the future in mind, but as far as first impressions go, this was positive. Signings - and sales - needed Yes, this point isn't exactly hot off the press, but Manchester United really need to kick into action in the transfer market. Their first half performance was reminiscent of plenty of United's games last season bar a brief flurry of penalty box action late in the half. If Amorim is to succeed, then he needs to be backed with signings. Cunha and Leon looked bright and Mbeumo was one of the Premier League's top attackers last season. He and Cunha in particular will help United no end, but they need much more if they are to have a successful season. Yes, funds are tight so that means player sales are needed. But United need to get moving on that front if they are to give Amorim the tools he requires to rebuild this team properly. Over to you, then, Ineos. The kids are alright Listen, it's the first game of pre-season: and it's certainly not all doom and gloom for Manchester United. The likes of Amad, Leon, Ayden Heaven, Leny Yoro, Kobbie Mainoo and Bendito Mantito to name just a few are evidence that the future is bright for United, even if things aren't all rosy at the moment. United just need the right signings to help balance things out and push them back among the Premier League's elite. Man Utd star delights fans by wearing £80 Glastonbury shirt to training
Ruben Amorim's Manchester United side have returned to Carrington for pre-season ahead of a massive season as they look to turn their fortunes around and Amad turned heads by wearing a striking T-shirt Manchester United star Amad left fans delighted after turning up to the first day of training wearing a multi-coloured Glastonbury T-shirt. The winger has become a fan-favourite at Old Trafford after lifting the struggling side with some excellent individual performances last season and he appeared in good spirits as he returned to Carrington on Monday for the start of pre-season. Amad was seen entering the training facility wearing the eye-catching football-style T-shirt with neon pink, green, blue, red and yellow zig-zag streaks running through it. At the top of the shirt was three white stripes running across the shoulders, a V-neck white collar, an Adidas logo and a Glastonbury icon at the top left. He was also wearing black sunglasses and holding a black duffel bag and he entered the building wearing denim short and green trainers. His shirt number 16 was also printed on the back of the shirt, which has been inspired by the music festival's pyramid stage and colourful tower alongside it. It's known as the Adidas Originals x Festival shirt and was available to purchase for £80, but the jersey sold out before Glastonbury even started on June 25. Amad's choice of T-shirt went down well on social media as one wrote: "Amad with the Glastonbury T-shirt on, my man!" Another wrote: "Love the Adidas top, it's mint," as a third said: "Welcome back star boy," and added: "Amad's a Glastonbury guy? Give him another new contract." Amad was one of United's first names on the teamsheet last season in as he scored 11 goals and assisted eight in all competitions in his breakthrough year under Ruben Amorim. He suffered a devastating injury that disrupted the end of his season, though he did return for the final seven games as he inspired the team on their journey to the Europa League final, which they lost 1-0 to Tottenham. Amad was one of many familiar faces spotted back at Carrington, along with the likes of Joshua Zirkzee, Mason Mount, Matthjis de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. United, who have added one big signing in Matheus Cunha, are gearing up for a massive season under Amorim as they look to turn their fortunes around following a disastrous season that saw them finish 15th, with 18 defeats.

Manchester United sent strong Amad exit demand after 'transfer agreement'
Amad Diallo was one of the standouts in a desperately dismal 2024-25 season for Manchester United, and amid shock suggestions he could become a makeweight for new signings, Louis Saha has made his feelings clear No matter what happens with Bryan Mbeumo, Manchester United MUST keep Amad at Old Trafford. That's the view of former United striker Louis Saha, who is a big fan of the young Ivorian winger. Mbeumo, 25, is all ready and has agreed to move to United if the Red Devils can seal a deal with his club side, Brentford. So far, United have seen two offers turned down by the London club, while Tottenham - who have just poached Bees boss Thomas Frank - have made a bid in excess of anything offered by United. Nevertheless, despite interest from Spurs, United are expected to land Mbeumo, with his preference to move to Old Trafford. He will join Matheus Cunha, who has already completed his £62.5m move from Wolves, with the pair both earmarked for key roles by Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese is sticking wholeheartedly with his 3-4-3 formation which is yet to bear fruit in Manchester, with the pair both set for starting spots as the twin No.10s, either side of a No.9. That means that Amad, one of few shining lights during a dismal 2024-25 campaign is likely to miss out on his preferred position on the right of the attacking trio. He may well have to drop back and play at wing-back if he wants to keep a starting spot, or else be a substitute. Speculation has risen however that he could in fact be cast aside and sold, as the club look to recoup funds. But Saha has urged United chiefs to do whatever it takes to keep Amad. "Nooo! No! No! If there are one or two players who should not leave, it is him and Bruno Fernandes," Saha told the Daily Express with BetSelect. "He is the kind of player who does not care where he plays. He has said it himself; he will play as a left-back or centre-back - he will just play." And as Saha backed Amad, he let rip at some of his Old Trafford team-mates with some very pointed comments. He continued: "Some other players will say, 'I want to play there' or 'I should be playing [in] this [position]'. Those players should shut up. Why? Because the result that we had last year is ridiculous. "If you have got 20 goals, you can ask those things, maybe. But none of those players have scored more than 15 goals, and they are asking for things. It is crazy."
