Starbucks' New Menu Item Is 'Summer Vacation In a Cup'

Starbucks has been busy. The coffee chain recently announced the return of its popular raspberry syrup this month, and now, a new menu offering is coming around the block for the impending holiday. Starbucks is launching a new Firework Frappuccino Blended Beverage for the Fourth of July — but it's only available for a limited-time. According to the company's press release, the drink consists of the "delicious berry flavors of Starbucks' Summer-Berry Refresher blended with coconut milk and poured over juicy raspberry-flavored pearls." The Summer-Berry Refresher features a blend of raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry flavors, is shaken with ice, then poured over raspberry-flavored pearls, per Starbucks' website. The Frappuccino will additionally be topped with a "bold red" strawberry purée and vanilla sweet cream cold foam for a "silky finish.""This is a summer vacation in a cup," Amanda Conaway, Product Manager at Starbucks said. "From the popping pearls to the creamy vanilla sweet cream, it's a vibrant, textured beverage inspired by the sights and sounds of summer." The press release further described the taste of the drink as "tangy-sweet." The drink will be available in Starbucks' cafes across the United States from July 1 to July 7, while supplies last. It's unclear how much the drink will cost, but we'd predict anywhere between $6 and $8 based on the current prices for Frappuccino's. RELATED: The Firework Frappuccino had been previously revealed in Starbucks' summer drink lineup, in addition to the Salted Caramel Mocha Strato Frappuccino, Strawberry Matcha Strato Frappuccino, and Brown Sugar Strato Frappuccino. None have been made available on the brand's website yet. Baristas have already taken to TikTok to address concerns that the drink will take a significant amount of time to whip up, with one employee writing, "I feel that it's going to take me at least a minute to complete this Frappuccino." This beverage news comes after Starbucks dropped a major policy change, requiring customers to pay a flat fee of 80 cents for any combinations of syrups and sauces in its drinks (no matter how many pumps you order). It's been confirmed that the classic syrup will continue to be added without an additional New Menu Item Is 'Summer Vacation In a Cup' first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 30, 2025

Starbucks launches sparkling new menu addition for 4th of July… but you have to act fast

Social media users are rushing to Starbucks to get their hands on an all-new Firework Frappuccino. The coffee chain launched its newest beverage this week to celebrate the 4th of July. The Frappuccino is a twist of its fan-favorite Summer-Berry Refresher mixed with vanilla cream cold foam, coconut milk, raspberry-favored pearls, and strawberry puree. 'This is a summer vacation in a cup,' said Amanda Conaway, who helped bring the beverage to Starbucks stores nationwide. 'From the popping pearls to the creamy vanilla sweet cream, it's a vibrant, textured beverage inspired by the sights and sounds of summer.' While this limited-time drink has sparked fans' interest, it will only be available at participating locations until Monday, July 7. Fans have been enjoying the drink since its release, some calling it 'the best thing' Starbucks has ever offered. However, some of them believe the drink is 'too sweet,' including a reviewer from Today, who claimed the beverage was a ' rollercoaster of flavors.' Several Starbucks employees took to social media to say the drinks were not a popular choice among customers. 'We made it this morning and no one ordered it. It's not even being advertised on our signs,' a Reddit user wrote yesterday. 'I didn't sell any during my 5 hour shift but I made samples and folks were like this is too sweet,' an employee responded. 'I worked 6-3 only two were ordered the entire time. I fear we all overestimated this one or it's REALLY gonna catch us off guard later in the week,' another barista replied. Starbucks has made a number of menu and policy changes in recent months as part of its 'Back to Starbucks' plan, aiming to boost profits and increase customer traffic. Implemented by its CEO Brian Niccol, some of the earlier changes included axing a third of its menu, ending its seven-year open-door policy, and doodling messages on to-go cups. But some of these changes have prompted backlash from customers, including decisions to stop offering 25 stars for using personal cups and changing its dress code policy. The chain is also currently working on changing its recipes. It is testing a sugar-free vanilla latte topped with protein banana cold foam after removing sugar from its matcha powder spiked the drink's sales by 40 percent. The chain opened 213 new stores during the second quarter of this year, bringing its location count up to 40,789. It's also planning to hire up to 85,000 workers nationwide. However, it was dethroned as the world's most valuable restaurant brand by McDonald's, which has also experienced significant sales declines. While Starbucks is working to get back to its former glory, its competition has not made it any easier for them. Dunkin' copied Starbucks' rule of not charging customers for more dairy alternatives and China's biggest coffee chain Luckin Coffee initiated its US expansion this week. Despite the setbacks, Niccol is optimistic about the restructuring plan. 'My optimism has turned into confidence that our "Back to Starbucks" plan is the right strategy to turn the business around and to unlock opportunities ahead,' he said. 'We are on track and if anything, I see more opportunity than I imagined.'

The other three drinks – Salted Caramel Mocha Strato Frappuccino, Strawberry Matcha Strato Frappuccino and Brown Sugar Strato Frappuccino – are expected later in the month. These new drink offerings come after Starbucks pulled several Frappuccinos and other drinks from its menu in March. The move to a simpler menu was part of CEO Brian Niccol's "Back to Starbucks" plan to revitalize the Seattle-based coffee chain in the U.S. The coffeehouse chain also as of June 24 said it would begin charging 80 cents for any additional combination of syrup or sauce to an unflavored beverage. However, if you add or substitute sauces or syrups to a preflavored beverage – such as adding vanilla syrup to a mocha – it remains free of charge. Starbucks got a jump on the season, making its summer menu available May 20. New on the menu is the Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso and a Strawberries & Cream Cake Pop. Back for the summer are the Summer-Berry Starbucks Refreshers, which in addition to the Summer-Berry Refresher includes a Summer-Berry Lemonade Refresher and the Summer Skies drink made with coconut milk.
