VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday unveiled an ambitious plan to transform Amaravati into India's first Quantum Valley, dubbing it the second chapter of his technological revolution. The announcement came at the Amaravati Quantum Valley National Workshop in Vijayawada, attended by global experts, industry leaders, and policymakers. The state government announced the establishment of the Quantum Valley Park in Capital city Amaravati, a pioneering initiative being developed in collaboration with IBM, TCS, and L&T. The Chief Minister also inaugurated a startup exhibition, showcasing innovations in quantum computing and allied technologies. Operational from January 1, 2026, the Amaravati Quantum Valley is envisioned as a complete ecosystem for real-time applications in governance, healthcare, manufacturing, aerospace, and pharma. Naidu also launched the 'Amaravati Quantum Declaration,' outlining India's strategy for advancing quantum and deep-tech technologies. Back in the 90s, we built Hi-Tech City in Hyderabad when my son Lokesh was in Class 7. Now, he's leading the next wave, Quantum,' Naidu said. 'We had to fight to deregulate telecom. Today, mobiles are more essential than food. Quantum is the next frontier, not just for adoption, but for leadership.' He said that technology and knowledge are the new tools of power. 'War is outdated. India must lead with collaboration and brainpower. Amaravati will be our launchpad for a global quantum footprint.' Naidu announced that the IBM 156-qubit Quantum System-2 will be installed in Amaravati in partnership with TCS, L&T, IITs, and Tokyo University.

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday unveiled his ambitious vision to transform Amaravati into a global capital for quantum technologies. Addressing the Amaravati Quantum Valley Workshop here, Naidu said: 'Quantum computing is the need of the hour. By January 1, 2026, the quantum computing centre will be operational in Amaravati. This marks the beginning of the Quantum Valley.' The workshop, jointly organised by the AP government, the Department of Science and Technology (Government of India), TCS and L&T, brought together some of the top minds and institutions in quantum computing. Stressing the need for quantum computing and highlighting the importance of creating a robust ecosystem and identifying relevant use cases, the CM noted that quantum computing would play a crucial role in advancing the state's technological landscape. "Today, we are announcing the Amaravati Declaration. This will take the initiative to its logical conclusion. I assure you, time and again, that if there is any hurdle, I will resolve it. I will sort it out," Naidu said. The Chief Minister underscored the need for integrating quantum computing in sectors like governance, personal medicine, vaccine production, aerospace, drones, and education. Earlier, IT Minister Nara Lokesh said Amaravati will soon host the IBM-2 Quantum Computer with 156 qubits, making it the first of its kind in South Asia. He stressed the need for a quantum-ready workforce, urging premier institutions like IITs to co-develop a curriculum for future quantum engineers. 'Today marks a new chapter. I was in seventh class when CM Naidu started the IT revolution in Hyderabad. Now, I am honoured to lead the quantum movement in Andhra Pradesh,' he said Lokesh further explained: "This is not just about joining the race - we want to leapfrog ahead. Amaravati Quantum Valley will generate over one lakh jobs and many more in research and innovation". Later, Bhaskar Katamaneni, Secretary, IT, Government of Andhra Pradesh, read out the 'Amaravati Quantum Declaration', which aims to shape India's quantum and deep tech future, setting targets for infrastructure, talent development, R&D ecosystems, and industrial collaboration, among other goals. Industry leaders expressed strong support for AP's initiatives in quantum technology. Sandip Patel, Managing Director, IBM India, called it "a defining moment for India's quantum journey," noting that over 200,000 individuals globally have accessed IBM's quantum platforms and IBM has already trained over 900 faculty members in India. Scott Crowder, vice-president of IBM Quantum Adoption, highlighted diverse use cases, from battery design to healthcare and financial risk management. V Rajanna, president, TCS, and MV Satish, Advisor to CMD, L&T, reiterated industry commitment, recognising quantum's transformative and commercial potential.

Photo | Express VIJAYAWADA: In a decisive step toward establishing Andhra Pradesh as a hub for emerging technologies, the State government, in collaboration with the National Quantum Mission, unveiled the Amaravati Quantum Declaration at the close of the Amaravati Quantum Valley (AQV) Workshop. The event in Vijayawada brought together global minds, scientists, industry leaders, innovators, and startup visionaries to chart the future of quantum computing, sensing, secure communication, and ecosystem-building. At the heart of the declaration is the creation of QChipIN, poised to become the country's largest open quantum testbed. Set to launch within the next 12 months at the new Amaravati Quantum Valley Tech Park, QChipIN will serve as a platform for piloting quantum solutions across critical sectors such as healthcare, banking, logistics, space, and defence. The declaration lays out an ambitious timeline. By January 2026, it aims to install IBM's Quantum System Two. Within a year after that, three quantum computers using different qubit technologies are expected to go live, supported by the testing of 100 quantum algorithms. The longer-term vision is striking: AQV intends to reach a capacity of 1,000 effective qubits and conduct more than 1,000 algorithmic tests annually by 2029.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) and its Quantum Valley partners —IBM, TCS and L&T —have issued the Amaravati Quantum Declaration containing six joint commitments, at the Amaravati Quantum Valley Workshop held here on Monday. The six joint commitments in the declaration include living-lab infra, indigenous supply-chain acceleration, capacity building, investment catalyst and global collaboration Among the commitments is the creation of Living-Lab Infrastructure and the establishment of India's largest open quantum testbed – QChipIN - within twelve months. This will integrate quantum computers, Quantum Key Distribution fibre links, and deployable sensor platforms to enable pilots across sectors like health-tech, BFSI, logistics, defence, and space. Indigenous supply-chain acceleration As part of the project, Amaravati Quantum Valley (AQV) will be anchoring domestic production of qubit platforms, cryo-electronics, photonic packages, quantum chips, quantum dots, quantum readout hardware like single photon detector, homodyne detector, and control systems, targeting annual exports of ₹5,000 crore by 2030. Talent and capacity building The AQV will be establishing India's first Integrated Quantum Skilling Ecosystem to offer integrated PhD fellowships, engineer upskilling, and technician certifications, and empowering at least 20 universities in the State and 100 across India to run undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programmes in Quantum Technology by January 1, 2027. Startup and investment catalyst The AQV will be spearheading the creation of a National Startup Forum with Venture Capital-backed milestone-based funding and creation of a dedicated ₹1,000 crore Quantum Fund and providing access to living-lab infrastructure to support at least 20 quantum hardware and security startups in 2026 and 100 by 2030. Global collaboration and standards leadership The AQV will be establishing a Global Quantum Collaboration Council to harmonise international standards, pursue joint R&D, and promote trusted supply networks inpartnership with the National Quantum Mission. Governance and accountability An Amaravati Quantum Valley Mission Board will be constituted for identifying use cases in different sectors, and publishing a transparent dashboard of key performance indicators.

1 2 Vijayawada: With quantum computing set to usher in revolutionary changes in many sectors, the proposed Amaravati Quantum Valley (AQV) is expected to play a key role in India's 'quantum mission'. The AP govt organised a curtain-raiser event with representatives from IBM, TCS, and LTI Mindtree as a precursor to the workshop to be held on June 30 to mark 'National Quantum Mission Day'. Explaining the steps taken by the govt towards the development of Quantum Valley, PS Pradyumna, secretary to the chief minister, said Andhra Pradesh is at the forefront of leading the quantum computing revolution that is set to unfold in the next three-four years. "Quantum computers can perform parallel processing in solving complex problems that conventional computers cannot solve or would take years to solve. For example, if a conventional computer takes one month to crack a password, a quantum computer will crack it within a minute through parallel processing. The state govt is inviting experts and end users to the workshop on June 30, during which the 'Amaravati Quantum Declaration' would be announced setting future goals. ITE&C secretary Bhaskar Katamaneni said an ecosystem is being built to enable industries to bring their challenges and develop algorithms using the quantum computing facility. "This will be the first full-stack quantum infrastructure in India, which can be accessed remotely by users across the country," he said, adding that the state govt expects that around 90,000 to 100,000 high-end jobs will be created once the Quantum Valley is fully operational. Prof Anil Prabhakar from IIT Madras, Amith Singhee, director of IBM Research India, and Vijaya Rao from LTI Mindtree attended the event.
