Defence Tech Startup Armory Raises INR 13 Cr to Strengthen Counter Drone Capabilities
The capital will be deployed to accelerate R&D, ramp up manufacturing, and enhance field deployment of its indigenous counter drone technologies. You're reading Entrepreneur India, an international franchise of Entrepreneur Media. Defence tech startup Armory has raised INR 13 crore in a funding round led by growX ventures, with participation from Industrial 47, Antler, AC Ventures, and Dexter Ventures. The capital will be deployed to accelerate R&D, ramp up manufacturing, and enhance field deployment of its indigenous counter drone technologies. Founded in 2024 by Amardeep Singh, an IIT Bombay alumnus and aerospace engineer, Armory develops Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (CUAS) to detect, deny, and destroy rogue drones — an urgent and growing threat in modern warfare. Its flagship solution, SURGE, moved from concept to successful field trials with Army regiments in just six months. "It's increasingly obvious that the future of warfare is autonomous drones and electronic warfare," said Amardeep Singh, Founder and CEO. "The only way to deter them is to build advanced countermeasures. The foundation of India's self-reliant defence is being built right now, and we aim to play a leading role in it." Armory's systems are powered by its proprietary Samaritan OS, an AI first defence operating system that allows real time adaptability and continuous learning — capabilities missing from traditional defence technologies. Manish Gupta, General Partner at growX ventures, said, "India's national security priorities are rapidly evolving, and Armory is one of the few startups addressing these changes at the pace of software. Their AI led, indigenous approach is exactly what India's defence tech ecosystem needs." Rahul Seth, Founder and General Partner at Industrial 47, added, "Weaponised drones are the IEDs of our era. Counter drone systems will soon be as common as CCTV cameras. Armory is building the airspace security infrastructure that will become essential." Armory is also exploring international partnerships to expand its "Make in India, Made for the World" strategy, aligning closely with India's growing role in global defence innovation.

IPG Mediabrands India has announced a leadership transition with Shashi Sinha being elevated to executive chairman. Simultaneously, Amardeep Singh , currently the CEO of Interactive Avenues , will take over as the new CEO of IPG Mediabrands India. Sinha emphasised the long-term vision behind the move, stating, "We wanted a unique succession plan, prioritising the institution's longevity. Rather than focusing on individuals, the institution should endure.' This dual leadership structure, with Sinha and Singh jointly at the helm for the next three years, is a unique move in the Indian advertising sector. Highlighting the strategic rationale, Sinha pointed to the appointment of Singh as the new CEO of IPG Mediabrands India. 'Amar has the digital expertise crucial for the future, especially with our strong data product, Acxiom, gaining significant traction. In fact, Interactive Avenues boasts excellent capabilities across data, content, and influencer marketing, making this a perfect transition," Sinha explained. He further added, "We have worked together for over 18 years and will continue to do so. It's not about demarcated roles but working together– truly two sides of the same coin.' Sinha also noted the collaborative nature of their immediate future. 'We will continue working together and will assess the next steps in the coming months.' In a related development, Shantanu Sriohi, previously a co-partner and COO at Interactive Avenues, will take over from Amardeep Singh as the CEO of the digital agency, ensuring a smooth transition within that division.

Hyderabad firm dupes 184 in Mumbai of Rs 45 cr, MD among 20 booked
Mumbai police have booked 20 people including directors, top functionaries and staff of a Hyderabad-based private company for allegedly duping 184 people of Rs 45 crore through a Ponzi scheme. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) after conducting a preliminary inquiry on Monday registered an FIR in the matter and are further investigating it. Police have booked Capital Protection Force Private Limited, its managing director Amardeep Singh, directors Anita Kumari, Pawan Odela and other executives and staff of the company. They have been booked based on the complaint of Smita Niraj Dubey, 37, a businesswoman from Andheri who got to know about the 'investment scheme' through mouth publicity. As per Dubey's complaint, the accused company and its top management and functionaries floated a scheme called Facon Invoice Discounting and induced people to invest money into it. They promised investors returns by an interest rate ranging from 12-18% and accepted deposits from them, Dubey states in the FIR. The accused company initially gave timely returns to the depositors encouraging them to invest more and also bring in more investors. They also ran a M-L-M (Multi Level Marketing) model business, Dubey said. As per the FIR, the accused company and its operators did not return money and the promised returns to the depositors in stipulated time and later ran away after closing the company. The company defrauded 184 people from Mumbai to the tune of Rs 45.41 crore between July 2024 to January 2025, police said. To lure investors, the accused firm claimed that it is providing invoice discounting services to reputed firms. The website they have created was later turned out to be bogus one, Dubey claimed. The complainant came in contact with other victims of the accused company who have formed a WhatsApp group which has 1,025 members, the FIR stated. The EOW have booked the accused company operators under sections 316(2), 318(4), 61(2) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and 3 and 4 of Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors (MPID) Act. '300 from state lost Rs 100 cr' Dubey told The Indian Express that the accused company had started its operation in January 2020 and ran at least half a dozen fraud schemes offering high returns to the investors. Among those who lost money in the fraud professionals like chartered accountants, doctors, lawyers and businessmen. Nearly 300 people have lost around Rs 100 crore in Maharashtra, suspects Dubey, who lost around Rs 50 lakh that she invested in the scheme. Dubey also claimed that there are many NRIs who lost money to the fraud. Dubey also said that the accused company initially registered as a housekeeping service providing agency. 'The bank authorities were sleeping or they were hand in glove with the accused as they did not raise objection or flag it after seeing daily transactions of around Rs 5 crore in the accused of an housekeeping service providing agency providing maids and security guards,' the complainant said.
