New Details on Bond 26: Denis Villeneuve to Direct with Tom Holland, Jacob Elordi Among Frontrunners

After years of speculation, Amazon MGM has officially confirmed that Denis Villeneuve will direct the 26th James Bond film—making this the first 007 installment under a new studio's leadership. The Dune director has stepped into one of cinema's most iconic roles behind the camera. Villeneuve has also promised both reverence for the franchise and a new trajectory for the series. With an estimated 2028 release, the film remains in early development, but the studio is already narrowing down possible leads and writers. Villeneuve's vision and Amazon's new era Denis Villeneuve, whose filmography includes Blade Runner 2049, Arrival, and Sicario, called Bond 'sacred territory' in a statement, acknowledging his lifelong admiration for the spy series. He joins the project as executive producer alongside Tanya Lapointe, but does not hold final cut or a multi-film deal. The upcoming movie signals a major shift in the Bond franchise—formerly tightly controlled by the Broccoli family, who relinquished creative rights to Amazon earlier this year after six decades of stewardship. With Dune: Messiah already in pre-production, Villeneuve's Bond version will not enter full-scale production for at least two years. Still, sources tell Variety that the studio is accelerating development by seeking a screenwriter and finalizing casting preferences. Casting focus: Will there be a younger James Bond? Reportedly, Amazon MGM is targeting actors under 30 for the next James Bond. Early favorites include Jacob Elordi, known for Euphoria and Saltburn; Tom Holland, star of Spider-Man and Uncharted; and Harris Dickinson, who appeared in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and Babygirl. While no official talks have begun, the studio appears intent on rejuvenating Bond with a new generation. Older fan picks like Henry Cavill and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are reportedly out of contention due to age. Jonathan Nolan was considered to write the script, per insiders, but his current commitments to other Amazon projects likely rule him out. A shortlist of other writers is under review as the studio shapes what could be a very different kind of Bond film.

British star Matthew Goode reveals dark reason Bond producers rejected him

Matthew Goode has revealed the dark reason James Bond producers rejected him moments after meeting him. James Bond bosses have been whittling down the long list of actors for years in a desperate bid to find the man who will replace Daniel Craig. Barbara Broccoli, 65, along with her brother Michael G. Wilson, 83, were the producers of the Bond franchise before they were replaced by Amazon MGM Studios for a massive $1 billion dollar deal in February. And before they chose Craig, Dept. Q star Goode revealed on Thursday's episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast that he was personally invited for a sit down chat with the producers who were seemingly interested in potentially having him be the new Bond before the role eventually went to Craig. However, sadly the meeting didn't go as the actor had planned. 'I didn't get to the audition,' remarked the star. 'But it was quite a funny one because — and she's gorgeous and just a lovely, lovely person — she was like, 'So what's your idea for Bond?' And I was like, 'My idea for Bond. We've gotta take it back to the books, you know? Really, we absolutely have to make this guy an alcoholic, a drug addict. He hates himself. He hates women. He hates a lot of people. He's in deep pain. He's brilliant at killing people.'' Goode confessed that his vision for the character didn't end up sitting well with the then producers, who swiftly dismissed him from the meeting. Goode reflected: 'I think by the end of the interview, she was like, 'Mhmm. Next.' I wanted to make it really dark.' 'I should have said was, 'But also incredibly charming.'' laughed the star. 'Ultimately, you know. What they did get was Daniel Craig.' Meanwhile, the rumour mill has been continually whirring as to who will take on the iconic 007 gig. But most recently, it was Aaron Taylor-Johnson who has dropped hints that he'll be stepping into Bond's shoes. The Marvel movie star, 34, recently signed a deal with Omega – the brand of watch the 007 spy wears. Omega has been supplying timepieces to the iconic movie character since the release of 1995's Golden Eye. When asked previously whether he would step into Bond's shoes, the Marvel star said: 'I find it charming and wonderful that people see me in that role. I take it as a great compliment.'

Dave Bautista to Star in Rom-Com "The Romantic" for Paramount

Yara Sameh Paramount Pictures has acquired rights to "The Romantic", a romantic comedy spec from Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont, with Dave Bautista attached to star. "The Romantic" is centered around bestselling romance author Francine London, who has a secret: she's a six-foot-four mountain of a man named Ed Schwenke. When Ed's identity comes under scrutiny, he hires a wildcard of a woman to pose as Francine at a romance fiction convention, while evading a cynical female journalist, who hates romance even more than she hates liars. Maximum Effort will produce under its first-look deal with the studio, alongside Bautista's Dogbone Entertainment. No director is attached at present. Bautista has spoken for years about his desire to star in a rom-com. In a 2023 interview with Page Six , he said, 'I know I'm not your typical rom-com lead. I'm a little rough around the edges. But I always, you know, I look in the mirror and I say, I ask myself, 'Am I that unattractive? Is there something that unappealing about me that excludes me from these parts?''. The Dune and Guardians of the Galaxy star added that while he's 'never had an offer to do a rom-com,' he had 'high hopes' about checking this off his bucket list and would 'keep searching' until he found the right opportunity. Currently weighing an offer for a role in "Road House 2" at Amazon MGM, Bautista will next be seen starring in the Aura Entertainment actioner "Trap House", as well as the Amazon MGM buddy cop action comedy "The Wrecking Crew" opposite Jason Momoa, both of which are produced by his Dogbone Entertainment Banner. Recently seen starring opposite Pamela Anderson in the critically acclaimed drama "The Last Showgirl", he also has the Zellner Brothers' alien invasion comedy "Alpha Gang" coming up. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean

Kim Kardashian Eyed to Star in "Bratz" Movie

Yara Sameh Kim Kardashian is being eyed to play the villain in Amazon MGM's 'Bratz' movie. The tech giant won a bidding war for rights to the live-action film about the popular children's toy in hopes of backing the next 'Barbie.' Additional details about the plot and cast have yet to be revealed. Charlie Polinger and Lucy McKendrick are writing the script, while Erik Feig and Julia Hammer for Picturestart, Kardashian, and Jason Larian and Jasmin Larian for MGA Entertainment are on board to produce. MGA's Isaac Larian will executive produce. Ever since 'Barbie' took the world by storm and became 2023's highest-grossing film with $1.44 billion, Hollywood has been developing all kinds of children's toys for the big screen. Film versions of Hot Wheels, Barney, Polly Pocket and Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots are currently in the works across various studios and production companies. Bratz dolls were founded in 2001 by Carter Bryant, a former Mattel employee, and were launched by MGA Entertainment. Bratz has sold more than 200 million dolls since 2001 and has the highest social media engagement across all platforms of any toy brand, according to Amazon MGM. However, it's unclear if that'll translate into blockbuster ticket sales. Bratz has been the subject of Lionsgate's 2005 live-action movie, which flopped at the box office, as well as several TV series and video games. Kardashian is the star of 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' and businesswoman behind the loungewear company Skims. She's been focusing on the world of scripted entertainment, recently starring in 'American Horror Story' alongside Emma Roberts and voicing characters in two 'PAW Patrol' movies. On the horizon, she'll lead the Netflix comedy 'The Fifth Wheel' from director Eva Longoria and will appear in Ryan Murphy's new drama 'All Is Fair.' read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean
